There's no lack of comment on the Episcopal Church's General Convention 2006. R. Andrew Newman reviews The Episcopal Church's cavalier handling of Scripture and wonders if it remains, in any real sense, a Christian Church. Peter Toon describes in an evenhanded way the two religions that reside under the umbrella of the Episcopal Church. After reading his article, one understands why he concluded:
What seems to be clear is that these two different Religions cannot stay permanently together in one jurisdiction, be it a diocese or a province. If ether group concedes any major point to the other side it loses its integrity and its whole position becomes unstable.
I strongly recommend reading Toon's articulation of the two religions. A split is near.
Finally, the Pakistan-born Bishop of Rochester, England, Michael Nazer-Ali also speaks of two quite different views of religion and is well worth reading.
