Yesterday I reported on China's forays into Africa. Today there is an important article on China's successful attempt to cozy up to Egypt. China is slowing building up alliances that will one day openly challenge the United States' power and influence in the world. The article's concluding sentence is ominous and not at all fanciful:
The U.S. could soon face an Islamist-led Egyptian government in control of the Suez Canal with China as a primary economic and military backer.
