DAVID WILKERSON, "TEEN CHALLENGE" FOUNDER AND AUTHOR OF "THE CROSS AND THE SWITCHBLADE," PREDICTS IMMINENT CATASTROPHE

- The Drudge Report carries the headline Famed pastor predicts imminent catastrophe; 'Earth-shattering calamity about to happen'...   The linked news story reads:

A respected pastor, best-selling author and founder of a major ministry to teens predicts an imminent "an earth-shattering calamity" centered in New York City that will spread to major urban areas across the country and around the world – part of what he sees as a judgment from God.

David Wilkerson, author of "The Cross and the Switchblade," a book about his ministry to troubled New York street kids that was later made into a movie starring Pat Boone, tells readers of his blog this weekend that he is "compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message" about his prediction.

"An earth-shattering calamity is about to happen," he writes. "It is going to be so frightening, we are all going to tremble – even the godliest among us."

Wilkerson's vision is of fires raging through New York City.

"It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires – such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago," he explains. "There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting – including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath. Me:  What do I think of this prediction?  It doesn't seem implausible at all.   I don't think Wilkerson is always right by any means (I recall his predictions a long time ago about the pope that seemed quite off base), but the title of his 1998 book America's Last Call: On the Brink of a Financial Holocaust is looking pretty timely to say the least.  Whether his latest warning is right or wrong, who can say that laying in a 30 day food supply (as he recommends) is anything but wise and prudential?  And who can deny that the United States and all of its citizens -- including you and me -- are in tremendous need of repentance before a holy God???

Update:  Since writing the above, I received an email which I am posting below.  It is from someone who lived in a friend's home for a period of time. 

I'm sending you all this message because:

When I lived in NYC I went to this church.
1 month before 911 pastor Dave had the same word.
I heard it with my own ears, he said something big
was about to happen in NYC. He did not know what it was but he(God) wanted
to prepare his people for it. Pastor Dave and the other pastors were
repenting from the pulpit as they taught. The curtin would go up and the
100 person worship team would be silent. God's hand was heavy upon
everyone. People were really crying out to God as never before at this
church. 1 month later 911 happened. Time square church was one of the first the respond
on 911. Please pray and see how the Lord leads you on this. I just wanted to share........
