I've not had time to do the amount of blogging I usually do. Sunday mornings I am leading a discussion at my church on "God and History: Exodus 1-20." We had our first session last Sunday and we have eight more to go. For background preparation I am making my way through two outstanding commentaries: Philip Graham Ryken's Exodus (1200 pages) and Douglas Stuart's Exodus (800 pages). I can't recommend these two books highly enough. Ryken's book offers scholarship and devotional richness intimately wedded together; every page crammed with nourishment for mind and heart. Stuart's book complements Ryken's. Both read so nicely it is a pleasure to pick up and "read some more" in either.
