Andy McCarthy understands freedom, Islam, and sharia with a particular clarity rarely exhibited in Western journalism. His reflections on Turkey, and Islam in general, add greatly to a more mature and accurate understanding of Islam. I have highlighted sections I think especially worth noting.
[...] Like all Islamists, Erdogan [Prime Minister of Turkey] has contempt for Europe and the West. The objective of Muslim supremacists is to dominate and Islamize them, not emulate them. . .
In their obsession over not being seen as Islamophobic, in their purblind insistence that aggressive supremacism is not the nature of mainstream Islam, European elites assume that they know Islam better than did such Muslim giants as Atatürk and his contemporary, Hassan al-Banna — the Muslim Brotherhood founder who notoriously wrote that “it is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated” and that Islam sought “to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet.”
It is an unremitting fact that mainstream Middle Eastern Islam is totalitarianism packaged as “religion.” To be sure, critics of Islam can go too far with this point. It is wrong to say, as some do, that Islam is not a religion. The doctrine has a number of spiritual principles — the oneness of Allah, to take a prominent example. There are, moreover, interpretations of Islam that focus only on its spiritual and mystical elements. If such interpretations were dominant, Islam would be of no more moment to us than it would if it were true, as the fiction holds, that Islam is a “religion of peace” that has been “hijacked” by “radicals.”
But the fact is that Islamic supremacism is the preponderant Islam of the Middle East. Yes, it is a religion, but it aspires to be so much more: to control every aspect of life, to impose sharia’s political, social, and economic strictures on civil society. Therefore, the guidelines for religions that pose no threat to free societies cannot be applied to Middle Eastern Islam without putting liberty in grave jeopardy.
In a truly free society, religious liberty is a bedrock. It must be safeguarded from governmental incursions. If, say, the Chinese Communists cared about such things (they don’t), it would make perfect sense to preclude them from integration with Europe until they ceased repressing religion (among other things). And we would have no hesitation about saying so, because Chinese totalitarianism is perceived as a political ideology, not a “religion.” Yet an Islamic society is not free precisely because of its religion — or, to put a finer point on it, because of its dictatorial sharia system, which we inaccurately describe as a mere “religion” due to the spiritual components that adorn its thoroughgoing regulation of non-spiritual life.
I hasten to add that it is no insult to call sharia a “dictatorial” and “totalitarian” system. Devout Muslims believe Allah, omnipotent and omniscient, has ordained sharia as the template for virtuous human life — every detail of that life. In their view, it is profoundly offensive for His creation, to whom He has deigned to give this gift, to disobey. One need not be a believer to understand why sharia-adherent Muslims believe we must all submit. To grasp this, however, is to understand that liberty and sharia cannot share the same space.

The following will be eye opening to many. A British friend now living in America, Maureen Fuller, describes her experience living in England:
What is it like to live in a socialist state? As a British immigrant to the USA and having just recently lived and worked again in the UK for seven years, here are some views I would like you to ponder.
Health care
The national health care system is 'free'. You can always see a primary care doctor, but if you need a specialist you may be referred and wait many months. If over 65, you may not see a specialist, or even be able to have some operations. End of life care is without proper caring and dignity in a hospital, unlike the caring we expect here. If you are admitted to a hospital, you will be in a ward together with 6 or more patients who may be mixed gender. If you need an X-ray you will have to wait, as doctors do not have X-ray machines or scanners in their offices, so you are sent to a hospital. Hospitals are not clean and have a high infection rate. Because of the lack of specialists you will not likely be referred to one easily. If you do get an appointment, you may see his assistant instead. Doctors will not talk to you in hospitals. Amazing as this may seem, I found you can be standing next to a specialist and his nurse but you have to talk to the nurse, who in turn relays it to the doctor, as if translating for you, but you are all speaking English. You are not expected to ask the doctor about your condition; you are just the patient. It is all very impersonal. Doctors were very surprised when I asked questions. Many doctors are from other countries and lack good training. Very high taxes pay for this inadequate system. There are few malpractice law suits, as you are taking on the government, which would be a huge expense. Remember, all medical personnel are employed by the government.
If you buy expensive private health insurance, you will see a specialist fairly quickly. These are the same specialists you would have seen on the National Health Service (NHS) however, now if needed, they can order tests and medicines not available on the NHS. Diagnostic testing is a low priority on the NHS. Ordering tests is very limited and people are not offered preventative care, such as a yearly check up. Mammograms are offered up to age 65. I would like everyone in this country to have health care but please, not under an invasive system such as Obama care, which is based on the UK system.
Running a business
It is hard to run a small business, as Health and Safety can shut it down anytime. They are a government force that have absolute authority. Our family business closed because of a new ruling that required construction of scaffolding, for anything previously done with a ladder, therefore, costing too much to do business. Why would the government do this and who would take over? Large Government contractors.
Housing
A new home developer has to provide over 25 to 80 percent of their homes as
government (social) housing. The percentage is decided by each town housing
authority, so differs by area. Housing is therefore very expensive.
Social housing is ultimately paid for by the home buyer. I was in new
home sales and can attest to the fact, that much anger is directed to this sad
state of affairs. Google; 'percentage of social housing on new
developments' to read more. I am sure most of us would be happy with the aged,
infirm and disabled being helped in this way. I am talking about the
healthy people who want a government hand out. Local housing authorities
can also take over older houses and apartments. Suppose you are living in a
nice house and the Housing Authority takes over an apartment next door. A young
girl with a baby and her boy friend move in and create noise and mess. Your
house is then burglarized twice by her unsavory boy friend. You have no
recourse. This true story is my own experience and goes on all the time.
Teenaged girls who have a baby, have to be given free housing and support.
They are not required to work. If they deny knowledge of who the father is,
they can claim more benefits. Their boy friends are not supposed to live
with them, but naturally they do.
There is a tax on buying a new or resale home. It is a percentage of the
purchase price. Taking a sale price of 300,000 GBP ( approximately
460,000 USD) the tax would be 13,800 USD (3 per cent). This tax is on a sliding
scale starting at 1 percent for a home over 180,000 USD to 7 percent for over
3,000,000 USD. Paying 300,000 GBP (460,000 USD) is not much for a small 3
bed house in the UK.
Google; 'Stamp duty Land Tax Rates' for more information and to see
what is likely to happen here in due course, especially to pay for our massive
debt.
Secularism - salvation through government
God is rarely mentioned in the media or socially. The state has taken over, so why do you need Him? I believe one of the reasons that a socialist government works at minimizing God, is to make the people look to them as benefactor instead. As things begin to crumble under such an unsustainable system, there is again an interest in God in the UK .
Privacy
Video cameras are everywhere in public. It is estimated that you are photographed 300 times every day, while going about your business. The police don't need to pull you over on the roads, as the cameras pick up your bad driving. Cameras are on most main roads, bridges, traffic lights and many buildings. You get used to it, but I always felt I was being watched, and noticed I had a feeling of freedom when I returned to the USA. The only upside is that it can help, if a crime has been committed.
Concluding comments
Prices of goods and gas are high, due to the taxes needed to support this system. When our president talks about spreading the wealth this is what will happen. Government takes the wealth and distributes it how they see fit. Our freedoms will be compromised and business will be stuck with what is unimaginable to American business and public. Am I for programs to help all people to lead a better life? Of course, but surely we Americans can find a better way, than to let the government micro organize our lives. This is not freedom. A socialist government wants people to think it is a good benefactor, so they give a few gifts here and there. Every winter you receive a small check to help you pay for heating. Ever get that warm fuzzy feeling? At Christmas you get something like 15 USD from the government. Merry Christmas! When you reach 60 years of age you can apply for a free bus pass. People think this is really great. It is like a rite of passage into old age. I wonder how much that free pass really cost the taxpayer?
America
From a foreign perspective, America is looked upon as a nation with Christian principles, despite our President declaring otherwise. People look to Americans for help in troubled times and to help them to be free. America is there for all disasters and gives billions in support, even to our enemies. I am thankful that America helped to save Europe in World War II. Yes, mistakes are made, but we must remain strong for ourselves and others. Consider the alternative. I know which country and system of government I prefer to live in.
Please vote. Many have given their lives to give us this precious freedom.

John Lennox, professor of mathematics and philosopher of science at Oxford University, spoke as a Christian layman to a congregation in Christchurch, New Zealand following the February 2011 destructive earthquake that killed 185 people.
I found his talk extraordinarily instructive and helpful. The audio can be accessed here or see the video below. (Note: See my previous post on Lennox's February, 2012 talk at Harvard University on "Miracles: Is Belief in the Supernatural Irrational?")

If I had the time, I would probably put up a dozen blog post links (out of 3 dozen or more!) that Weasel Zippers puts up throughout the day. If you scan the Weasel Zippers headlines and short squibs you will know a thousand per cent more than you would relying on newspapers or TV (including Fox News). Sample posts in the last few hours:
A glimpse into our “progressive” future should we choose to go down it.
Via Telegraph:
France is set to ban the words “mother” and “father” from all official documents under controversial plans to legalise gay marriage.
The move, which has outraged Catholics, means only the word “parents” would be used in identical marriage ceremonies for all heterosexual and same-sex couples.
The draft law states that “marriage is a union of two people, of different or the same gender”.
It says all references to “mothers and fathers” in the civil code – which enshrines French law – will be swapped for simply “parents”.
The law would also give equal adoption rights to homosexual and heterosexual couples.
Justice Minister Christiane Taubira told France’s Catholic newspaper La Croix: “Who is to say that a heterosexual couple will bring a child up better than a homosexual couple, that they will guarantee the best conditions for the child’s development?”
Note: Legalizing gay marriage and adoption was one of the first laws France’s socialist government passed after they were elected in May.

(Reuters) – The world’s largest Islamic body called on Tuesday for expressions of “Islamophobia” to be curbed by law, just as some countries restrict anti-Semitic speech or Holocaust denial.
Pakistan, speaking on behalf of the 56 countries that form the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), condemned a video made in the United States that defamed Islam and the Prophet Mohammad, igniting Muslim protests around the world this month.
“Incidents like this clearly demonstrate the urgent need on the part of states to introduce adequate protection against acts of hate crimes, hate speech, discrimination, intimidation and coercion resulting from defamation and negative stereotyping of religions, and incitement to religious hatred, as well as denigration of venerated personalities,” Pakistan’s ambassador Zamir Akram said in a speech to the U.N. Human Rights Council.
The Obama administration has condemned the film entitled “Innocence of Muslims” as “disgusting”. But Western countries remain determined to resist restrictions on freedom of speech and have already voiced disquiet about the repressive effect of blasphemy laws in Muslim countries such as Pakistan.
Akram said the crudely made video, as well as the burning of the Koran and the publication of defamatory cartoons, amount to “deliberate attempts to discriminate, defame, denigrate and vilify Muslims and their beliefs”.
Such acts constitute “flagrant incitement to violence” and are not protected by freedom of expression, Akram said. Rather, he said, Islamophobia must be acknowledged as a contemporary form of racism and be dealt with as such.
“Not to do so would be a clear example of double standards. Islamophobia has to be treated in law and practice equal to the treatment given to anti-Semitism, especially in legislations.”

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) on Friday accused President Barack Obama of ushering in a second Ottoman Empire in the Middle East through his foreign policy.
Speaking on the House floor, Gohmert accused the Obama administration of allowing Iran to influence Iraq by pulling U.S. troops out, and suggested the attacks on U.S. diplomatic missions in the Middle East and North Africa are the result of waning American influence from that decision, The Hill reported.
“Thank you President Barack Hussein Obama. This will be quite a legacy for you,” Gohmert said. “I‘m not one of those who says he’s not a Christian. All I know is that’s between him and God. But what I do know is he has helped jump start a new Ottoman Empire and left our friend and ally Israel so vulnerable in this sea of radicalism that he has helped bring to the surface.”
Gohmert said a recent report showed that approval for the U.S. among those in Muslim countries had slipped from 33 percent under President George W. Bush in 2008 to now just 15 percent under Obama, according to The Hill. A Pew Research Center survey released in June noted that the median approval in Muslim nations for Obama’s policies has declined over the last three years from 34 percent to 15 percent.
“This president is trying to buy affection from people who are bullies, who are radical Islamists, who want to destroy us. You’re not going to get love and affection, you get contempt,” Gohmert said.
Gohmert made a similar reference to a “new Ottoman Empire” in another floor speech earlier this month.

From Jim Daly at Focus on the Famly:
Mark Regnerus’ life was turned upside down this past June when he published a study in the journal, Social Science Research, with findings that contradicted popular homosexual activist talking points.
The respected associate professor of sociology at the University of Texas at Austin became fodder in the blogosphere and was accused of committing “scientific misconduct” by several individuals and organizations.
What was so controversial or egregious about Dr. Regnerus’ research?
In short, the professor’s study found that children who are raised by parents who have had a same-sex relationship don’t do as well in life when compared to children of married heterosexual parents.
In Professor Regnerus’ own words:
On 25 of 40 different outcomes evaluated, the children of women who’ve had same-sex relationships fare quite differently than those in stable, biologically-intact mom-and-pop families, displaying numbers more comparable to those from heterosexual stepfamilies and single parents.
Even after including controls for age, race, gender, and things like being bullied as a youth, or the gay-friendliness of the state in which they live, such respondents were more apt to report being unemployed, less healthy, more depressed, more likely to have cheated on a spouse or partner, smoke more pot, had trouble with the law, report more male and female sex partners, more sexual victimization, and were more likely to reflect negatively on their childhood family life, among other things.
One notable theme among the adult children of same-sex parents … is household instability, and plenty of it. The children of fathers who have had same-sex relationships fare a bit better, but they seldom reported living with their father for very long, and never with his partner for more than three years.
The University of Texas took the accusations lodged against their faculty member seriously and launched an inquiry. Basically, the school was trying to find out whether Professor Regnerus had an agenda and was falsifying or playing loose with the data he collected. His computers were seized, as well as other forms of personal correspondence. Interviews were conducted.
In the end, Professor Regnerus was cleared of all charges.
“None of the allegations of scientific misconduct put forth,” a university official wrote in a memo, “were substantiated either by physical data, written materials, or by information provided during the interviews.”
So, he is innocent. But here is the sad irony:
Professor Regnerus wasn’t being attacked because his research lacked academic rigor – in fact, his peer-reviewed study was by far the largest, most statistically valid study on the topic to be done. He was being attacked because his scientific findings didn’t square with the liberal perspective. When it comes to this topic of homosexual parenting, numerous other studies have been published that utilized all kinds of sloppy techniques, all intended to generate a desired outcome – that children do just fine in homosexual households. None of the professors who have conducted those studies have been subjected to similar investigations, even though their bias is obvious and their work deeply flawed.
The indignity that befell Professor Regnerus notwithstanding, the findings of his study should embolden and hearten those who believe in the biblical definition of marriage.
Here’s why:
Reality is not going to contradict God’s law and humans have the best chance to flourish when they follow it.

Breitbart's Headline: "Obama Gave Entertainment Mag Interview on Peak Day of Embassy Protests." Warner Todd Huston reports:
Instead of spending precious time dealing with the developing crisis in the Mid East and with his foreign policy scheme in a total freefall, on Friday morning, September 14, Obama was giving an interview to the entertainment magazine "People en Español" and participating in a photo session with photographer Omar Cruz.
This interview was not on his public schedule and was hidden from the public.
Friday, September 14th was the same day that four flag-draped coffins of those killed at the U.S. Libyan embassy arrived at Andrews Air Force base.
The interview came to public attention when individuals who work for the magazine tweeted about their visit after the event was over.

What's going on?!? (HT: Drudge) Read the article for yourself.
Following controversy over its purchase of around 1.2 billion bullets in the last six months alone, the Department of Homeland Security has put out a new solicitation for over 200 million more rounds of ammunition, some of which are designated to be used by snipers.
A series of new solicitations posted on the FedBizOpps website show that the DHS is looking to purchase 200 million rounds of .223 rifle ammunition over the next four years, as well as 176,000 rounds of .308 caliber 168 grain hollow point boat tail (HPBT) rounds in addition to 25,000 rounds of blank .308 caliber bullets.
As James Smith over at the Prepper Podcast website highlights, “It is the type of ammunition and not necessarily the quantity that is troubling.”
Smith points out that the DHS’ acquisition of .308 rounds is of concern because they are set to be used by well-trained snipers. . . .
The U.S. Army has also been preparing for domestic disorder.
A recently leaked US Army Military Police training manual for “Civil Disturbance Operations” outlines how military assets are to be used domestically to quell riots, confiscate firearms and even kill Americans on U.S. soil during mass civil unrest. [more . . .]

From an email, reminding us of Rick Rescorla's heroism during 9/11 and before:
Who was Rick Rescorla? He moved to the United States from Great Britain. He came here to actually help us fight in Vietnam. And he fought in the famous battle of la Drang, his picture is on the cover of the book “We Were Soldiers Once…and Young.” He came back from Vietnam and in time became head of Security for Morgan Stanley. After the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993, he knew the terrorists would come again. So what did he do? Here’s how the journalist Amanda Ripley describes it:
From then on (since 1993), Rescorla started running the entire company through frequent, surprise fire drills. He trained employees to meet in the hallway between the stairwells and, at his direction, go down the stairs, two by two, to the forty-fourth floor. He noticed they moved slowly, so he started timing them with a stopwatch—and they got faster.
The radicalism of Rescorla’s drills cannot be overstated. Remember, Morgan Stanley was an investment bank. Millionaire, high-performance bankers on the 73rd floor chafed at Rescorla’s evacuation regimen. They did not appreciate interrupting high-net-worth clients in the middle of a meeting. Each drill, which pulled the firm’s brokers off their phones and away from their computers, cost the company money. But Rescorla did it anyway. He didn’t care whether he was popular.
When guests visited Morgan Stanley for training, Rescorla made sure they all knew how to get out too. Even though the chances were slim, Rescorla wanted them ready for an evacuation.
Then came 9/11.
Rescorla grabbed his bullhorn, his walkie-talkie, and his cell phone and began systematically ordering Morgan Stanley employees to get out. They already knew what to do, even the 250 visitors who were taking a stockbroker training class and had already been shown the nearest stairway.
Rescorla had led soldiers through the Vietcong-controlled Central Highlands of Vietnam. He knew the brain responded poorly to extreme fear. Back then, he had calmed his men by singing Cornish songs from his youth. Now, in the crowded stairwell, as his sweat leached through his suit jacket, Rescorla began to sing into the bullhorn. “Men of Cornwall stand ye steady; It cannot be ever said ye for the battle were not ready; Stand and never yield!”He saved thousands of lives that day. Thousands. But not his own. His last recorded words were, “As soon as I make sure everyone else gets out.” He said those words in response to Morgan Stanley Regional Manager John Olson, who was yelling at him: “Rick, you’ve got to get out, too!”
Who was Rick Rescorla? He was an American by choice. He was a hero. Of him, as of so many, it may be said of them as Steven Spender wrote: “The names of those who in their lives fought for life; Who wore at their hearts the fire's center. Born of the sun they traveled a short while towards the sun; And left the vivid air signed with their honor.”
We owe it to our heroes, to our ancestors, and to our progeny to know names like that. And, we owe it to civilization’s adherents to oppose civilization’s abuse. Yes, we have an enemy, and yes it is real. And we can never forget it. Nor can we ever or should we ever forget what our enemy has done to us and what it plans for us still. The beginning of our wisdom here will be the beginning of our remembrance. But we have a lot of relearning and remembering to do. “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.” [Abraham Lincoln quote]

Yesterday I listened to this YouTube video of Oxford mathematician Dr. John Lennox speaking at the Veritas Forum at Harvard this past February. Off hand I can't think of a talk I have enjoyed more, or found more engaging and delightful. I listened to the audio, and am glad I did, as I find the camera angle of the video leaves a lot to be desired.
Lennox's talk is full of meat and crystalline in its clarity. I love his spirit and his humor. I recommend listening straight through to the Q&A. His story of his encounter with a Russian man in a Belgian train is phenomenal.
I am thankful to God for this man! I already have two of Lennox's books, God's Undertaker: Has Science Buried God? and Seven Days that Divide the World: The Beginning According to Genesis and Science. In his talk he mentioned two additional books recently published, which I think I shall have to add to my library as well: God and Stephen Hawking: Whose Design is it Anyway? and Gunning for God: Why the New Atheists are Missing the Target.

From the Family Research Council:
While the media would like to portray conservative politicians as obsessed with abortion, the Democratic Convention last week told a different story. President Obama had over two dozen prime time speakers, including the heads of the largest pro-abortion organizations, praising unrestricted abortions at taxpayer expense.
Abortion giant Planned Parenthood, which gets at least one million dollars a day from taxpayers, is repaying the President's gratitude by launching a $3.2 million television ad buy in Ohio and Virginia on Monday as part of its biggest-ever campaign effort. The newest ad, called "Turn Back the Clock," is set to run on cable television in Northern Virginia for the next five weeks. The ad highlights Mitt Romney's opposition to the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision and his opposition to federal funding for Planned Parenthood. There is a reason that the President's abortion allies are attacking Governor Romney.
Gov. Romney reiterated his desire to overturn the poorly decided decision, known as the Dred Scott decision of the 20th century. He also said he would overturn President Obama's actions that have resulted in taxpayers subsidizing and paying for abortions both internationally and at home.
President Obama has done a fundraising video from the White House for Planned Parenthood's PAC. According to their highly paid leader, who tweeted her excitement, President Obama called them yesterday to thank them for all their support of taxpayer funding of unrestricted abortion. To see the differences between the two party platforms on life and other issues check out our comparison here.

Dinesh D'Souza is wonderfully articulate. Read this interview: (HT: Drudge)
Dinesh D’Souza is the conservative author of the best-seller The Roots Of Obama’s Rage which was the basis for the #2 political documentary of all time 2016 Obama’s America. He is also its co-director. He answers today’s slam on the film by the Obama-Biden campaign, which comes just as the movie is hot in battleground states and its producers are looking for a network to air it before the November election. D’Souza attacks the mainstream media for “refusing” coverage:DEADLINE: What is your reaction to today’s Obama-Biden campaign slam of 2016 Obama’s America??
DINESH D’SOUZA: “I welcome Obama’s critique of the
film. He has probably figured out that he cannot ignore it any longer.
Obama’s response is a characteristic mix of name calling and false
allegations. Some of the claims he makes refer to things that are not
even in the film. Elsewhere Obama just gets it wrong. For example, he
disputes that he funded $2 billion in Brazilian oil exploration. In
reality, Obama has given billions of dollars not only to Brazil but also
to Columbia and Mexico to drill for oil. On March 19, 2011, Obama gave a
speech in Brazil in which he deplored the legacy of colonialism,
promised technology and support for Brazilian energy development, and
concluded “when you are ready to start selling we want to be one of your
best customers”. The facts in the film stand up very well to the
closest scrutiny. I think people should see 2016 and make up their own minds.
DEADLINE: What do you think of the criticism the film has received?
D’SOUZA: The criticism of the film actually bothers me
less than the neglect of the film. If I were Michael Moore and I were to
make a film that was the No. 2 political documentary of all time, I
would be on every network. I would be on Meet The Press, and I would be profiled in The New York Times,
and I would be all over MSNBC. Instead large sectors of the press are
refusing to cover the film. They are just pretending it doesn’t exist.
DEADLINE: What is your response to charges that you are simply an anti-Obama propagandist?
D’SOUZA: I tried very hard with this film to make an
intelligent film with credible sources and new information. I’m a
college president [D’Souza in 2010 was named the president of The
King’s College, a Christian college located in New York City], I’ve
been a fellow at the Hoover Institution and at the American Enterprise
Institute, so what is kind of funny is in a guy like Michael Moore we
have a true propagandist and a true conspiracy theorist. A guy who is
fast and loose with the facts. My film was to some degree inspired by Fahrenheit 9/11.
In the sense that I remember that Michael Moore dropped that film in
the middle of the 2004 campaign and it had a big impact. But
nevertheless, I set out to make very different type of film than Michael
Moore. One that is, first of all, not just preaching to the converted.
And second, one that doesn’t insult the intelligence of the audience.
And I really think that is actually a large part also of the film’s
appeal. That even though the left says it’s propaganda, it’s a risky
attack on the film because when people go to see it, they actually see

** UPDATE: WHITE HOUSE DECLINES NETANYAHU'S REQUEST TO MEET WITH OBAMA
First came the shouting match between Netanyahu and the U.S. ambassador. Then Martin Dempsey told an audience in London that he didn’t want to be “complicit” in an Israeli attack on Iran. The upcoming joint military exercise between the U.S. and Israel was then scaled back, and this murky report about the U.S. contacting Iran to distance itself from an Israeli strike appeared. Then came the floor fiasco at the Democratic convention over the platform’s Jerusalem language. Now this.
Question for foreign-policy wonks: When was the last time relations between the U.S. and Israel were this poor?
(Original post) - From Adam Kredo reports: (HT: Weazel Zippers)
With new evidence that Iran is on the cusp of finalizing a nuclear weapon, a pointed war of words between the U.S. and Israel escalated Tuesday, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the Jewish state will not wait for the Obama administration to sign off on a possible strike against Iran.
“The world tells Israel ‘wait, there’s still time.’ And I say, ‘Wait for what? Wait until when?’ Those in the international community who refuse to put red lines before Iran don’t have a moral right to place a red light before Israel,” Netanyahu declared at a press conference in what is being viewed as a direct rebuke to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Clinton stoked Israeli fears earlier this week when stated that the U.S. is “not setting deadlines” regarding Iran’s nuclear program. “Good-faith” talks with the genocidal regime, she added, are the best solution to the nuclear impasse. [more...]

Nadarkhani being reunited with his family.
What remendous news!!! Here's what we have learned so far: (From Fox News)
Iranian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, who was originally sentenced to death in his native country for his Christian faith, was acquitted of apostasy charges and released from custody.Nadarkhani, 32, was imprisoned for three years and waiting execution for refusing to renounce his Christian faith. His charges were lowered to evangelizing to Muslims, which carried a three-year sentence. He was released with time served, according to the American Center for Law and Justice, a Washington-based watchdog group that had been campaigning for the pastor's release.
"Today our sources in Iran reported that Pastor Youcef was acquitted of apostasy and released from prison. After languishing in prison for almost three years, he has been reunited with his family," Jordan Sekulow, executive director of ACLJ said in a statement to FoxNews.com.
"While we are working on confirming the exact details of his release, some sources report that the court alternatively convicted Pastor Youcef of evangelizing to Muslims, sentencing him to three years and granting him time served. Pastor Youcef’s story is an example of how the world can join together to ensure that justice is served and freedom preserved."

A massive new DNA research project called ENCODE has dramatically increased understanding of the human genome and may revolutionize human biology. Scientists have discovered that 80 percent of DNA that had been dismissed as "junk" plays a crucial role in how the body works. Their voluminous research, amassed in 40 papers by 32 labs and hundreds of scientists, is considered a medical and scientific breakthrough because of its implications for human health.
Millions of gene controlling switches that reside in DNA classified as junk are responsible for determining what becomes of a cell. These switches act as a genetic operating system that will help researchers understand how diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, asthma, and hundreds of others develop.
According to Fuz, this breakthrough:

I share Stanley Kurtz's concerns. The only way to cut through the media filter that continually masks Obama's hard left vision for America is for Romney to stress the ideological battle underlying this election. He can't assume the American people see it clearly. I've highlighted sentences that I think need emphasizing in Kurtz's piece.
Overall, the Democrats put on an effective show. With the possible exception of the McGovern convention, this was the most left-leaning Democratic gathering in memory. Some of that may have been counterproductive, particularly on social issues. To the extent that Republicans dismiss this convention as either a failure or relatively meaningless, however, I think we’re fooling ourselves.
This election could go either way. If Obama squeaks by, he will have done so with the help of a Democratic party that has taken a large, open, and disturbingly leftist turn. I think we’re missing the significance of that. It is completely accurate to say that the Democrats are pushing a bogus reformulation of the American way of life — slapping a bunch of flags on their Julia ad and turning classic conceptions of civic and religious community into covers for a cradle-to-grave welfare state. Unfortunately, this way of thinking is becoming the new normal in this country, and Obama and his convention have only helped to cement the change.
Conservatives can puncture these arguments all we like, but we can’t cut through the media filter. More than that, the conservative case can’t break through the left-controlled education system that has profoundly shaped the Millennials. True, youth unemployment is giving many second thoughts about Obama, yet it’s been more a matter of sapping Millennial enthusiasm than of changing attitudes and ideas.
Do demographics doom the expansive liberal welfare state, regardless? In some sense, they do. Yet if Obama is in the driver’s seat as our fiscal woes mount, he will use the crisis to further his restructuring. California is our advance guard — our Greece — yet their budget crisis is two months away from prompting one of the boldest redistributionist transformations this country has seen in years (even if barely anyone knows it yet).
Only the Romney campaign can cut through
the cultural, educational, and media filters and force a debate over
the Obama Democrats’ bogus redefinition of the American dream. The media
can ignore what conservatives say, but they still have to cover the
candidate. With the exception of his welfare ads, however, the Romney
campaign has avoided an assault on Obama’s ideology. Romney’s entirely
plausible strategy is to downplay the ideological battle (Ryan
nomination notwithstanding). [A terrible mistake to my way of thinking. I agree with Kurtz]
As the Romney campaign sees it, the tiny sliver of remaining undecided voters consists of mildly disillusioned former Obama supporters, or at least voters who personally like Obama. Coaxing these folks to “break up” with their erstwhile beau means not making them feel like they were fools to buy into Obama’s vision to begin with. That cuts against any effort to unmask the president’s overweening leftist ambitions. Let’s just say that the president’s a nice guy who’s in over his head instead.
Okay, but Michelle Obama did a very effective job of pressing undecideds to give her nice-guy another try. And the convention as a whole did a better job of redefining government as nice-guyism writ large than Republicans would like to admit. Charles Krauthammer says that the counter to all this is exposing Obama as “a deeply committed social democrat” using his presidential power to enact the same “ambitious left-wing agenda” he “developed in his youth.” Well, yes. So far as I can tell, however, this sort of argument is the last thing the Romney campaign wants to make right now. Don’t want to drive away that tiny sliver of Obama’s wavering admirers.
I can’t say for certain that Romney’s strategy is wrong. But I do think it’s far riskier than we realize. Treating Obama as a nice guy in over his head, rather than a smart leftist who knows exactly what he’s doing, leaves the Democrats’ bogus narrative about government unanswered. America is changing, and Republicans are naive to rely on the public to simply recognize the problems in the Democrats’ claims without significant help from our nominee.
Republicans won big in 2010 by defining Obama as an overweening ideologue. Yet that was the Tea Party’s doing, not the Republican establishment. In those days, Romney even jumped on the tea-party bandwagon with some surprisingly cutting observations about Obama’s leftism. Obama may not have pivoted after the 2010 election, but Republicans did. They toned down their attacks on the president’s ideology, and to some extent helped to build up the very wall of “likeability” they now fear to scale, even as the president rejected the Clintonian way and stayed to the left. Were Republicans smart to hold their fire? Romney did try out the argument that Obama is moving us toward European-style social democracy during the primaries, but he’s dropped that now in favor of the kinder and gentler “break up” approach.
Republican reticence on these issues has been going on for a while. Beginning with John McCain in 2008, the party establishment has done a weak job of challenging the core Democratic narrative of the causes of the financial crisis. Clinton laid the foundations of the subprime meltdown, and Obama himself was in on the ground floor of the fiasco. If the public is willing to cut Obama some slack for the economic problems he inherited, that is partly because we’ve allowed him to define the problem to begin with.
I don’t have access to the Romney campaign’s focus-group and survey data. Maybe they’re right to try to pry away those erstwhile Obama supporters in only the gentlest of ways. Yet I worry that the Romneyites are fooling themselves. Technocrats and fixers from a state where liberals dominate, they are neither inclined or prepared to show how the Obama Democrats are slowly redefining American exceptionalism into the European social democratic dream. Romney may squeak by on bad unemployment numbers and gentle coaxing of undecideds, but patriotic veneer the Democrats have managed to slap on their leftism is worrisome. If Obama wins, it will be because we allowed him to get away with it.

Religious Liberty Prayer Bulletin
-- Interpol and Swedish authorities aid Saudi Embassy to hunt convert.
By Elizabeth Kendal
Since late July Saudi media have been buzzing with reports that a 28-year-old Saudi woman
has embraced Christianity and fled the country, staying initially in a
church in Lebanon before moving on to Sweden. According to the Saudi
Gazette, the woman, Maryam, appeared on an Arabic TV channel saying
she was tired of performing prayers and fasting during Ramadan --
rituals that never brought her any benefit. She also criticised Saudi
Arabia's Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. She claimed to have been converted through a dream
and said that though she was raised to hate Judaism and Christianity
she has come to love those religions since finding peace in
Christianity.
The woman's father said his daughter was working in an insurance company
in Al-Khobar (in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province) when her boss, a
Lebanese Christian man named Henna Sarkees (50), influenced her and
ultimately encouraged her to leave Islam. According to Saudi
investigators, a second man, a Saudi national, helped the woman obtain
false documents and leave the country. The woman's family have pressed
charges against the two men because apostasy (leaving Islam) is an
Islamic capital offence and a Saudi woman is not allowed to get a
passport without the permission of her male guardian. The men will face court on Saturday 15 September.

Guess what it was. You're right. A rally of Christians. Michael Brown reports: (HT: Bob)
There was a lot of talk about the Islamic prayer meeting last Friday in Charlotte. It was sanctioned by the DNC and was expected to draw 20,000. It drew perhaps 200. There was a lot of talk about the Occupy protests that were expected to add a disruptive presence to the city, but less than 1,000 protesters showed up, despite months of hype and build up. There was, however, a rally that drew multiplied thousands of attendees on Sunday and was officially shunned by the DNC. Oh, you didn’t hear about it?
I’m speaking about the Charlotte 714 rally (based on the biblical text found in 2 Chronicles 7:14) where Christians from more than 100 different churches in the region attended a 7-hour, non-political rally at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. (According to the figures released by the amphitheater, there were 9,000 total attendees over the course of the day.) Keep reading...

That's the title of an article in the Wall Street Journal, one of many papers (UK Guardian, N.Y. Times) covering the news that what was before considered "junk DNA" has now been discovered to play a critical role in controlling how cells, organs and other tissues behave. What's especially noteworthy is that "junk DNA" has been hailed as a support for evolution, whereas this latest discovery vindicates Intelligent Design proponents who predicted there would be discovered value in "junk DNA." In fact, last year, one of the Intelligent Design scientists, Jonathan Wells, published the Myth of Junk DNA, anticipating the latest findings. Part of the Amazon book description reads:
Recent books by Richard Dawkins, Francis Collins and others have used this “junk DNA” as evidence for Darwinian evolution and evidence against intelligent design (since an intelligent designer would presumably not have filled our genome with so much garbage). But recent genome evidence shows that much of our non-protein-coding DNA performs essential biological functions.
Wintery Knight covers the breaking story especially well.

Nancy Pelosi wants to keep religion within the walls of a church. John Stonestreet at Breakpoint writes:
CNS News broke the story late last month: At a recent press conference held to discuss the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (a.k.a., “Obamacare”), a reporter asked former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi a critical question:
“One of the services that health care plans have to offer free of charge [under the HHS mandate] are sterilizations… do you agree with the federal government mandating—”
At this point, Congresswoman Pelosi cut the reporter off and responded, “You know what, I told you before, let’s go to church and talk about our religion. Right here we’re talking about public policy as it affects women…”
Stonestreet responds:[my emphasis]
“Let’s go to church and talk about our religion,” Congresswoman Pelosi said. The message is clear: If you’re concerned about the well-being of young women, and aren’t sure that free sterilization without parental consent is a good idea, you’re just trying to shoehorn your religion into the public debate, where it doesn’t belong. Go back to church and be quiet.
As Chuck Colson warned two years ago, and as we’ve been pointing out ever since, the current administration has been advancing an entirely new definition of religious liberty—one which must bow to any perceived sexual freedoms and which must remain within the walls of our church buildings.
As Matthew Lee Anderson of MereOrthodoxy.com points out in our interview this weekend on BreakPoint This Week, it’s more than religious freedom being pushed out of the public square. When it’s pushed out, secular institutions, including government, become increasingly hostile towards it.
Our freedom to express and exercise our religion in the public square is quickly being sterilized—without our consent.

The most comprehensive pro-and-con discussion of Israel's dilemma - does Israel attack Iran's nuclear installations or wait? - can be found in The Times of Israel article, "The most fateful decision of all."
Tensions are high.
Rep. Mike Rogers, the Michigan Republican who chairs the House
Intelligence Committee, says that his much-discussed meeting with
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem late last month
did, in fact, devolve into an sharp confrontation between Netanyahu and
the American ambassador to Israel, the former National Security Council
official (and former Obama campaign Jewish liaison), Dan Shapiro.
Rogers
told a Michigan radio interviewer earlier this week that he had not
previously witnessed such a high-level confrontation, and he described
Israeli leaders as being at "wits' end" over what they see as President
Obama's unwillingness to provide them with his "red lines" in the effort
to stop Iran's nuclear program. He also said that neither the Israelis
nor the Iranians believe that Obama would use force to stop the nuclear
program. (UPDATE: Rogers said as well he believes the Israelis will "probably" bomb Iran if they don't get clearer red lines from the U.S.) [more. . .]

Parts of it are absolutely awful, as pointed out by the Family Research Council:
Sometimes it's not in what you say, but what you don't that matters most. Reading the Democratic platform is one of those moments. Compared to its Republican counterpart, the official agenda of the Democratic Party is deafeningly silent on the sanctity of life, the importance of traditional marriage, and the granting of meaningful protections to religious liberty--showing just where their priorities lay (or don't lay) in their incomplete vision for America. The Democratic platform calls for "unequivocal" support of Roe v. Wade and unfettered "access" to abortion on demand, ignoring an awakening understanding--both legally and medically--on the beginning of life issues. Nuanced and emerging matters such as fetal pain, embryo destruction, and sex-selective abortion are all conspicuously missing, just as end-of-life issues (assisted suicide, both active and passive euthanasia).
The GOP platform opposes all abortion funding, both here and abroad, a position consistently held by a majority of Americans, whereas the Democratic platform supports abortion "regardless of ability to pay." According to The Weekly Standard's John McCormack, "That last part-'regardless of ability to pay' is an endorsement of taxpayer-funded abortions, a policy that President Obama has personally endorsed. Obama wants Medicaid to pay directly for elective abortions, and Obamacare will allow beneficiaries to use federal subsidies to purchase health care plans that cover elective abortions." Talk about being out of touch with Americans! Seventy-two percent of Americans oppose "using any public money in the health care overhaul to pay for abortions," Quinnipiac University found.
And life is not the only issue where the Democratic Party breaks Left. The big news is the Democratic platform now supports same-sex "marriage," "the right of all families to have equal respect, responsibilities, and protections under the law"--a stance that opposes all federal and state initiatives to the contrary. Of course, the irony is this news is being delivered from Charlotte, in the state that just voted overwhelmingly in favor of a marriage protection amendment. State's rights are an afterthought in the platform, unless of course you're talking about the District of Columbia statehood.
And the Democratic platform would not be complete without deflecting charges that ObamaCare's "contraceptive mandate" that requires all people of faith to pay for abortion drugs, contraception, and sterilization violates rights of conscience. "The Affordable Care Act ensures that women have access to contraception in their health insurance plans, and the President has respected the principle of religious liberty." Of course, just saying there's respect for the principle of religious liberty doesn't make it so. For an election that is supposed to be about jobs and the economy, it's the radical social issues that seem to be at the forefront of the Democratic convention. The evidence of that is obvious--not just in the Party's platform--but in the speaker line-up as well: Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood, Nancy Keenan, President of National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL), Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and Georgetown law student, Sandra Fluke.

In an article subtitleld, "The group opposes a law curtailing Jew hatred," McCarthy sets the record straight on CAIR saying:
[...] CAIR is the Muslim Brotherhood bullhorn created to cheerlead for sharia, for Hamas, and for sundry other jihadists — all under the guise of “civil rights.” In unison with its “social justice” collaborators on the left, CAIR is most often found campaigning against “Islamophobia.” This is a term strategically created by the Brotherhood to slur as “defamation” or “incitement” (collectively, “hate speech”) any criticism of Islamic supremacism. That includes the ideology’s undeniable roots in Muslim scripture; its vow to destroy the West from within; and its promotion of terrorism against legitimate sovereign authority, spun as “resistance” against “occupation.”It is farce. CAIR has no real interest in hate speech per se. Indeed, it has no real interest in civil rights — no proponent of sharia could. Its sole actual imperative is Islamic supremacism: promoting any cause that increases Islamic influence and protesting any effort either to reduce Islamic influence or to subject Islamic-supremacist doctrine to scrutiny. Consequently, CAIR’s precious fretting over hate speech extends only so far as Islam is advanced or imperiled.

As he weakens the US he stands by or even encourages the coming caliphate into this new 21st century group of superpower nations. You cannot have an islamic caliphate with the kind of power and influence they are seeking with a superpower based on freedom standing in the way like the US.
You see kids that’s why the Emperor is disarming us, taking our nuclear arsenal down to 1500 (with hopes to get even lower to 3-500) while our enemies are building weapons, and bankrupting this nation. We are too well armed and too rich compared to other nations! Once we are broke and defenseless this Ottoman Empire will roll in because there will be no one left to stand in the way!

I was near that battle-zone in 1986 and it is a tankers nightmare with 200 foot high hills on either side of a river valley that goes from the Sea of Galilee to the Mediterranean Sea. If Hezbollah comes down from the north with Syrian tanks they will hit a choke point and be decimated. But then when God enters the fight it will not matter what your fighting in he can destroy what ever he wants since the Weapons of God are not of this world.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:28pmYou are correct. With all due respect the Congressman is incorrect though. I doubt seriously that a caliphate will actually take place. During the Psalm 83 war, Israel will destroy all its enemies in close proximity. Which are the current countries of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and fantastically the West Bank is specifically mentioned. I say that for those unfamiliar with the Bible. If you are a Christian, Biblical prophecy is not fantastic. It just is. WWIII is described in Ezekiel chapters 30 and 38. Most theologians who have researched eschatology are confident that both wars are prior to the rapture and the tribulation described in the Book of Revelation. Islam will not look like it does today in the future. I don’t know exactly into what it will mutate. Many believe it will fuse with apostates of Christianity and Judaism. Some believe it will fuse with Roman Catholicism after the current Pope is gone. It may revert to its actual pagan origins.
Many are indecisive as to the exact countries involved in WWIII since present day country borders are a manufacture of man and not the areas God established or recognized. Some countries most everyone agrees on are Russia, Germany, Turkey, Ethiopia, Sudan, Iran. Some that may or may not be involved are China, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and many countries in Indo-China.
One thing is for sure. Neither, Mr. Obama or Mr. Morsi, or any other human for that matter, is in charge of any of this.

Its the other way around. Every Christian I know just wants to go about their business

Peace accords, peace treaties, peace agreements, etc – they’re all a FARCE because
these people dont want peace. American leadership has always made the mistake of
attempting to apply a western mindset to the Arab world, and the fact is, they dont think
like us. They’re a warring people. It does not matter what you give them, it will never be

And even if you gave them that, they’d find something else to fight about.

Nope, I sure don’t. But, since they were there already with a goal in mind, perhaps we should have stayed until it was done. I think that is what Gohmert was saying. Also, that with the exploding growth of a new Ottoman Empire we might have been able to keep Iraq from being influenced more by Iran.
I pretty sure that was his point. Saving any Country from being a part of a new Ottoman Empire especially after spending so much money and losing so much blood on said Country.
What do you think? (Besides that we should have never been in Iraq in the first place)

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 1:57pmThe-Monk
Exactly what is the goal in Afghanistan and what was the goal in Iraq? It seems to me that we achieved the goal within the first couple months in both countries.
What i thought was based on what i was told by the repubilcans – which was that Iraq was a direct threat to our existence and had to be removed in order to establish a middle east democracy. That turned out to be a lie and misguided policy. You are asking what i would do right now? I would remove our troops from the line of fire and remove all embassies from islamic countries. People talk about creating the environment of freedom over there, but that is exactly what lead to the muslim brotherhood has gaining control in egypt, libya, and iraq – and at the same time, the republicans are blaming it all on Obama….Which tells me that nothing has changed in America

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:07pmHi Soybom315,
If you knew the history of the relationship between Iraq and the Brits (Westerners and main alleys of the US) you would know why Iraq was considered a threat. Here’s a quickie lesson for you;
After WWI the Brits wanted to go into Turkey and didn’t have the man power. Since they controlled Iraq (just like India) they asked Iraq to help. Iraq said no; the Turks were their friends. In 1920 the King of Iraq and the Brits reached a deal. Iraq would help the Brits conquer Turkey and if successful, Iraq would win it’s freedom. Well, they won and the Brits reneged on the deal. For 17 years they continued control of Iraq. Then in 1937, with Hitler doing his thing, the Brits granted Iraq it’s freedom. BUT, the Brits would keep the port city (Kuwait) cutting Iraq off from the Persian Sea. They pleaded and the Brits agreed to leave a space open on the East side of the Country and put the King’s brother (or son, I forget) in charge of Kuwait. 50 years later, after struggling to get Iraq going, they asked the US for permission the take Kuwait back through Madeleine Albright. All are weapons storage was full and military contractors were having massive layoffs. So the US agreed and Iraq went in. Then we said, “what do you guys think you’re doing” and rained down 40 days and nights of hell, emptying our warehouses and keeping jobs. Iraq vowed revenge and started a WMD program. Any scientist who failed was shot.
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:08pmAny scientist who failed was shot. So, they told Hussein the nuke program was working to keep from being shot by Hussein. One of the scientists escaped and even did a 60 Minutes show on it. I even remember the Sec of Labor at the time, Robert Reich, being grilled hard about why we were in Iraq. Everyone was saying it was for oil and the Government didn’t want that said. So, during this “grilling” Reich said, “You want to know why we’re there? You really want to know why we’re there? Jobs. That’s why US jobs.” I watched it and remember it well.
You see, the intel coming right from Hussein’s scientists was that the nuke program was working. And if you figure in what the Brits (our friends) did to them up until 1937, the struggles to make a Gov, them being told it’s OK to take Kuwait back the all hell for 40 days and night WITHOUT taking Hussein out. Well, that’s why we went back in the second time. We and the Brits both, owe Iraq some rebuilding and safety from Iran. Or don’t try teach real history at Dr. Paul camps? The US AG back then was Ramsey Clark who happened to be a friend of mine. So I got my history lessons about what we did from him and about the Brits did from a friend of Gandhi and Nehru who witnessed it in person. Now think about all this please.
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:13pmI forgot to add…..
Now you know why the Turks and Kurds hate Iraq so much.
Starting to make some sense now?
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:18pmOne more thing……
Ramsey Clark was the first US person to enter Iraq after the 40 days and nights of hell. It was just 1 week after the bombing and was did it illegally. The US Gov denied anyone to visit but he went anyways. We talked for hours about what he saw. THIS is what drove my friend Ramsey crazy and literally hate the US Gov.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 4:11pmNow consider this:
Do you remember the Iraq soldiers surrendering to reporters as they were leaving Kuwait? Do you remember them setting fire to oil rigs? Ever wonder why?
Iraq gave up and asked for permission the leave Kuwait. We said OK and gave them 48 hours (the time might be off but that’s what I remember) to leave. When crossing the desert, we were there with bulldozers and Blackhawk helicopters. We dug trenches in the sand, forced them into them (soldiers, wounded and medics) with the helio’s than buried them alive. They set fires in retaliation for us not keeping our word on free and safe passage back to Iraq. Those who found reporters with cameras (on the roads) surrendered to them because we were after them.
As for Afghanistan, I don’t know too much about that. But, India, Iraq and some other regions; Oh, yeah!

Please ask again. : )
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:06pmHi Soybom315,
OK…. Part 1
“Exactly what is the goal in Afghanistan and what was the goal in Iraq?”
The goal of going into Iraq the first time was J O B S. It’s that simple. We had made so many weapons we didn’t have any place to store the next-gen weapons. Massive layoffs in 3rd party contractors were happening. Then, Iraq asked us if they could go into Kuwait and take it back (It was part of Iraq in the past). We saw an opportunity to clear up some space and hatched a plan. We told them yes and then acted like it was an invasion (remember the Hussein trials? He keep saying Kuwait was part of Iraq). Hence the 40 days and nights of 2,000 sorties a day. Cleaned up the storage issue and the 3rd party contractors could go back to work, more layoffs were prevented and people were rehired. And Bush 1 left Hussein in charge. And he vowed REVENGE against the USA!!! And he went to work on a nuke program. He would ask his scientists how things were going. When the lead scientist said, “not so well”, Hussein would pull out his pistol, shoot him right there in front of the other scientists and put the #2 guy in charge. After a few times of this happening they started to lie to Hussein. “Oh, Mr. Hussein, the nuke program is going splendidly!” This started the false intel of the weapons program and the reason the Brits, Russians and US ALL were fooled into believing it. Even the intel coming from Israel was wrong.
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:32pmPart 2
Bush 2 is in office now and Daddy (Bush 1) likes Jeb (Son 2) more than George (Son 1). A bit of family feuding going on. At this time all this intel is coming in about Iraq and it’s nuke program. Everyone, and I mean everyone; Russia, Britain, Israel and the USA are getting the same reports. Hussein is working on a nuke program and it’s “going along splendidly”. Bush 2 wants to impress Daddy and decides to go in and get Hussein. Something Daddy couldn’t even do. Besides, the USA and Britain know what happened in Desert Storm and that Hussein is seeking revenge. The IAEA can’t even get in to verify anything. The UN approves a US invasion.
(Starting to sound a bit like Iran but without Bush 2?)
So we go in and find no nukes. But the scientists are alive because they lied to save their lives. We figure it out and decide to finally do something nice and help them out with security, power and water and with a new Gov since Hussein is dead. You see; we know what we did in Desert Storm and are trying to make amends with the people. Bush 2 is happy because he finished the job his father started and now we try to be the “good guys”. That’s why we were still in Iraq. Obama doesn’t know any of this and is just trying to get votes. He really doesn’t care about Iraq or if our troops are there. Remember, he did send more troops in too.
Part 3 is next…..

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:33pmLouie’s brain cells are having a constant food fight in his head
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:59pmPart 3 (and final)
Hussein was part of the Ba’ath Party and ruled with an iron fist because all the different sects were always fighting for power. With Hussein gone the other sects came in, while we were trying to finally do something good, they started causing trouble. We started fighting them and chased them into Afghanistan. Al-Qaeda got involved with the Taliban and we are still there for some stupid reason; trying to stabilize an un-stabilizing situation. As I said before, I don’t know much of the history of Afghanistan.
Ask Dr. Paul about all of this. He’s been a Washington politician for some time and should be able to verify all of this for you. I hope this answers your questions. As you can see, I didn’t white-wash any Republican actions or motives. I didn’t bash the Democrats, Independents or even Ron Paul. I hope you appreciate that and have your answers. Please feel to ask anything else.
Also:
We do have a mad man in Iran that wants the return of the Mahdi (the 12th Imam) and the Caliphate. We also have Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood who want a Caliphate and Sharia Law. The World is real screwed up and if Obama stays in power it will only get worse because he hates America and likes Muslims more than us. He will bring the US to its knees; and we might never be able to stand again.
soybomb315_II
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 8:19pmMonk it is really hard to follow your connections. You say we went into Iraq in 2003 to stop their nuclear program? How come we found zero evidence of it (and Bush was looking for it, for political reasons) and honest minds like Colin Powell saw that we were duped and quit in disgust?
Nevertheless, if you say the goal of Iraq was to get rid of their nuclear weapons program – then we no longer should be there. mission complete, case closed. Afganistan tried to get nuclear weapons and Al Qaeda has moved into other countries – why are we still in Afganistan – what is the goal?
We cannot prevent the spread of an idea in the middle east – especially using our heavy footprint.

Jesus said look at the fruit to see what they bear. a good tree cannot bear evil fruit and an evil tree cannot bear good fruit. the fruit he bears is evil. he is a muslim and probably a radical one. he had friends in pakastan in palastine and muslim brotherhood for years. now he pretends he is for poor people when he defended slumlords against tentants who had no heat in chicago winters. aborted babies still alive thrown in closets. hell i think if he gets gets elected he will be worse than hitler because he is setting up israel now.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 10:32amIf we ever exploit ALL our natural resources like the 1.5 trillion barrels of shale oil in the US and our NG we can tell the entire middle east to F OFF. That‘s the only reason we’re in that region and once we stop paying them trillions of dollars for oil and use our natural resources we can be done with them.
Kill all so called ‘green energy’ programs here and rescue our coal industry from the Marxist POS currently destroying it we’ll be okay.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 10:31amActually it will be called a Caliphate.
Right now though our world is about to have a massive legacy of Obama left behind; that of a regional war in the Middle East in which Israel may fall and Iran arise as the dominate power; along with war between China – Japan.
Understand, the world is shifting dramatically now in the way of geopolitical alliances and of the governments; Obama unleashed this with support to the Arab Spring and the failure to support the real Democratic uprising within Iran.
Due to his massive failures, his name shall bear shame in history worse than Chamberlin.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 10:46amAs you may know Barry sees America as the cause of all the worlds problems, hence the apology tour, the most sickening display of a President I’ve ever seen. I believe Barry when he says he‘s going to fundamentally transform America because he’s doing it. He’s determined to lower our standard of living and our influence throughout the world. In short he’s making us pay, literally trillions in dollars and our civil liberties are further eroded with the Marxist heathen in charge.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 11:07amPRO: Obama is just trying to fulfill the Dreams of His Father : “ social justice” / aka revenge for Western colonialism and capitalism ! There is an angry man hidden under those well-tailored outfits. ( I have a photo from campaign 2008 of Michele doing the Black Power Clenched fist raised in the air and a scowl on her face that would strip paint from a wall ). Think that clenched fist represents Obama and this New Far Left Democrat Party of radicals. They operate under a new set of ” ruLes.” Pure Alisnky. Pure Marxist. Pure un-American. Posted on September 23, 2012 at 10:25amThis transformation began when we thought we could “Nation Build” our enemies homelands. Remove dictators and whoever is the #2 most powerful influence in the country fills the vacuum. In this case it was theocracies. Bad foreign policy under Bush and Obama. We hear the shouts of “Obama will let Iran get a nuke!” Yes he will. Just as Bush let North Korea build one while declaring he would not let it happen. Different parties….same policies….wake up sheep.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 10:32amWasn’t it Clinton who let north Korea get nukes under the guise of energy production?

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 10:55am“Nation Build” our enemies homelands
***
We did that after WW2 successfully. But after WW2 means AFTER the war.
We are trying or were trying to build during an active war in Afghanistan. An enemy that has secure bases (with only occasional pinpricks by drone) in the Swat Valley & northern.Southern Waziristan is not AFTER the War.
Iraq was just about “after the War” & we almost succeeded, but Obama cut & ran like a yellow dog.
Now Iran owns 1/2 to 2/3rds of Iraq. It owns the core of Iraq which is enough for Iran to project some power.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 11:39amWANKABOUT . . . “Iraq was just about “after the War” & we almost succeeded, but Obama cut & ran like a yellow dog.’
Sorry, but conservatives all said “Bush won the war.” So which is it?
I believe the yellow dog you’re looking for is Reagan, who cut and ran like a yellow dog after 83 of our Marines were killed in Beirut. Reagan is the reason Arab radicals are as bold and ruthless as they are today. But gosh, he sure looked good in jodhpurs, didn’t he? Wow what a guy!
TIME_2_END_THE_PAUL_CAMPAIGN_IN_12
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 12:13pmWANGO. Actually it was more like 240 or more Marines if memory serves me right, along with 50 some-odd French paratroopers. They should have never been there in the first place… like sitting ducks, lightly armed and not permitted to take the high ground. That was a major mistake. Reagan certainly made a blunder there. Marines DO NOT cut and run… neither does the rest of our Military.
No excuses for that blunder. It should have given us firmer resolve in the region as opposed to walking away…

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 12:30pmTime . . .You’re right . . .it was in ‘83 that it happened, not 83 dead. My mixup. The point remains.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 1:07pmWANGO. I’ll still take Reagan over any who have succeeded him as POTUS. Let’s throw his immediate predecessor in that mix too just for sh!ts and giggles eh?

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 4:00pmThe Marines were not allowed to have loaded weapons in a war zone on Beirut. So was it a mistake to send them there or was it the lack of sound tactics.
I remember the Lebanese Civil War. It started when the PL F______ O started setting up checkpoints & selectively killing Christians. they had set up in Lebanon after trying to take over Jordan (Black September) & had been routed by the Jordanians.
We did win in Iraq. You can look at the casualty count it was way down. We could have lost Germany after WW2 & we won that war.
