In my opinion, we are witnessing the unfolding of the greatest presidential debacle in U.S. history. Because the media now extends beyond the collusive Obama protectors (the mainstream media), the truth will eventually come out and I expect the nation will collectively wring its hands and cry in sorrow over the devastation wrought by the Obama presidency and its Congressional allies.
George Weigle talks about the mentality regnant in the U.S. State Department and the Obama administration saying:
In his June 13 testimony before the National Security
Subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Governmental
Reform, Dr. Thomas Farr of Georgetown’s Berkley Center described the
failures of U.S. international religious freedom policy over the past
decade and a half and suggested some of the structural reasons for that
failure: lack of strategic integration, such that religious freedom
doesn’t “fit” with other U.S. foreign policy objectives; resistance in
the Department of State to the very idea of an international religious
freedom policy and a special ambassador for promoting religious freedom;
little or no leadership from presidents and secretaries of state.
And the dismal result? According to Dr. Farr, “it would be
difficult to name a single country in the world over the past fifteen
years where American religious freedom policy has helped reduce
religious persecution or to increase religious freedom in any
substantial or sustained way.”
Andrew C. McCarthy brings us up to speed on Obama's foreign policy regarding Egypt, as does David French. As usual, Obama sides with the anti-American, anti-Christian forces and seems unable to comprehend basic realities.
Victor Davis Hanson surveys five years of Obama rhetoric:
After five years of empty loquacity and procrastination, the
world—in scary places like Iran, Syria, Russia, China, and North
Korea—has caught on that when Obama pontificates about a redline or a
deadline, these are mere suggestions for further discussion and hardly
guaranteed by the power of an unpredictable and dangerous United States.
He makes a further observation:
Obama’s background as a long-time student, lawyer, law lecturer,
and politician has led him to live in a world of words rather than of
those concrete consequences found more often in the private sector or in
the landscape of the self-employed. . . .
Power: Barack Obama, supposedly a foreign policy
"super genius," promised to negotiate terrorist states such as Iran into
submission. Instead, our shattered global influence can't even
extradite a fugitive out of Hong Kong.
Between Hong Kong's aggressive commitment to political freedom, its
Beijing overseers' shrewd exploitation of a fat opportunity to undermine
U.S. prestige, and Obama administration incompetence, America was
humiliated over the weekend in a pathetic attempt to have Edward Snowden
extradited for his role in revealing the extent of National Security
Agency domestic surveillance.
The island of nearly pure capitalism deftly waited a couple of days
before announcing that Obama's Justice Department had botched its
extradition request, then Hong Kong dropped Snowden like a hot won-ton
onto a Moscow-bound Aeroflot flight.
A flabbergasted media wondered why John Kerry's State Department
hadn't revoked Snowden's passport immediately after federal charges were
filed, and why no "red notice" request was sent to Interpol — then
realized it was because Kerry's predecessor, future presidential choice
Hillary Clinton, wasn't there to provide her superb Benghazi-caliber
management skills.
Snowden — with four laptops filled with U.S. secrets, apparently
already seen by China — might get asylum in Ecuador, but probably not
until Moscow too gets a look at what he's got. In his ongoing defiance,
Snowden might have even flown over U.S. airspace several times, our Air
Force's hands tied since we're not going to do as the Soviets did to
Korean Airlines 007 in 1983 and shoot down a passenger jet full of
innocents that refuses to land.
The U.S. simply isn't much feared or heeded anymore. Not by rivals
Russia and China. Not by Hong Kong, which shares what once were our
government's economic values. And not by a leftist Latin American nation
such as Ecuador, which defaulted on more than $3 billion in foreign
debt, enjoys unreciprocated free-trade privileges with the U.S., and,
according to Adam Issacson's Just The Facts website, enjoyed well over
$250 million in U.S. aid under Obama.
Why would they? We break promises to those we commit to liberate, as
in Iraq. We drag out the fighting in Afghanistan, then leave the job
half-finished. We promise a missile shield to the Czechs and Poles, then
renege.
As a candidate in 2008, Obama basked rock-star-like in the adulation
of 200,000 Eurodupes in Berlin, but the "new dawn in the Middle East" he
promised became an Islamist black hole. No wonder he didn't mention the
Arab Spring or Egypt when fewer than 6,000 showed up in Berlin last
week to hear him implore them to "reject the nuclear weaponization that
North Korea and Iran may be seeking."
"May," Mr. President? Are you still missing your morning national security briefings?
Our global strength and prestige continue to decay. Added to that,
the surveillance overreach of Obama's NSA has frittered away some moral
high ground.
Its blanket collection of innocent civilians' communications makes
Snowden seem to many to be no 21st century Alger Hiss — even as the
regimes most notorious for violating civil liberties help him.
Speaking on Special Report Monday evening, Charles
Krauthammer argued that President Obama’s approach to foreign policy has
taken away much of the fear and respect with which many nations have
traditionally regarded America. “The fact that people don’t like the
United States is not new,” said Krauthammer, “what’s new is that
these non-likers have no respect for the United States.”
Krauthammer
contrasted Obama’s rhetoric with reality, pointing to the president’s
record of calling to “hold people accountable,” with his repeated
failure to do so around the world.
Referring to press secretary
Jay Carney’s warning that allowing Snowden to leave will undoubtedly
harm China’s relationship with the U.S., Krauthammer argued that nobody
in Beijing takes President Obama’s threats seriously: “Nobody worries or
cares about what Obama says because it carries no weight.”
I find the following news truly offensive and a governmental activity that needs to be stopped. It's "cultural imperialism" at its worst. The Obama Administration, in the name of U.S. tax-paying citizens, is pushing the homosexual agenda on countries that until now have resisted such immoral sexual conduct. The Family Research Council reports:
If the President doesn't respect America's views on marriage, what makes us think he would respect other countries'? Certainly not his latest USAID project. In April, to relatively little fanfare, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) embarked on one of the most shocking abuses of taxpayer dollars in the last five years. With help from the Levi Strauss Foundation and millionaire liberal Tim Gill, the U.S. government is spending $11 million to train homosexual activists in other countries.
The Washington Blade, D.C.'s gay newspaper, praised the Obama administration for creating an army of international lobbyists for same-sex "marriage," anti-discrimination laws, and homosexual "rights" around the world. According to USAID, the first phase of the program is focused on countries with a strong Catholic influence: Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, and other developing nations that oppose homosexuality.
This week, the first in a series of USAID "gay trainings" took place in Colombia, a nation specifically targeted for its rejection of same-sex "marriage." The goal, an agency spokesman says, is to teach people how to infiltrate the political process and advocate for laws that a majority of Americans, who are paying for the program, object to. "It can be a real game-changer in the advancement of LGBT human rights," she insisted. In essence, U.S. taxpayers are being forced to groom the next generation of the world's Human Rights Campaigns -- a stunning exploitation of Americans' money, and more importantly, their trust.
For the Obama administration, this is just another part of its strong-arm strategy to bully other nations into compliance. Whether it's through the United Nations, U.S. embassies, or the State Department, President Obama is leading the effort to bribe and coerce poor countries into accepting his pro-homosexual agenda. Our friends at Family Watch International are urging people to get involved. They've released a shocking new documentary highlighting the President's dark world of "Cultural Imperialism." Click over to their website to see a five-minute clip [posted below] or the full feature. Be prepared to be outraged.
1. It is not certain that the Assad regime has used chemical weapons. I heard Defense Secretary Hagel, who is not the clearest fellow in any event, say our intel community had “some degree of varying confidence” that Syria had twice, on a “small scale,” used sarin. That is a hedge if ever there was one. Coming days after it seems the government had a uniform degree of strong confidence that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was nothing to be concerned about, it’s not exactly something I’d bet the farm on.
2. Let’s assume Assad did it. This would not change the underlying problem: Assad’s opposition is rife with assorted Islamic supremacists and jihadists. These include elements of al-Qaeda, the organization with which we are at war, and whose ardent pursuit of chemical and biological weapons has not only been noted but formally alleged in indictments for years. I am not saying we have no friends in the opposition. But, as in Egypt, they are a weak part of an opposition led by Muslim supremacists who hate the West. That is not going to change, no matter what weapons Assad uses.
On this score, Cliff’s argument repeats the standard interventionist narrative: Obama failed to act in support of the pro-American (or, at least, anti-Islamic-supremacist) faction(s) of the opposition, creating a void that allowed “well-funded jihadist and Islamic forces [to] take the lead on the battlefield.” I wrote about this narrative in a recent column. There is no evidence in Syria, any more than there was in Egypt or Libya, that there was, at any point, a thriving, pro-American faction that was capable of taking the lead against the dictatorial regime. The most virulent opposition to the Assad regime has, for decades, been the Islamic supremacists — the Muslim Brotherhood and its allied violent jihadists. There is no void. This is the dynamic in the Muslim Middle East: You rationalize U.S. aid and sacrifice by telling yourself you are only helping the good guys, and then, once the regime is toppled, it turns out there aren’t enough good guys — so you end up with the Muslim Brotherhood. If Assad is replaced by the Muslim Brotherhood, that is not progress for America.
Four F-16 fighter jets left the U.S. this morning, bound for Egypt as
part of a foreign aid package critics say should have been scrapped when
the nation elected a president who has called President Obama a liar
and urged that hatred of Jews be instilled in children.
A source who works on the Naval Air Force Base in Dallas confirmed
the departure of the state-of-the-art fighter planes to FoxNews.com.
Sixteen F-16s and 200 Abrams tanks are to be given to the Egyptian
government before the end of the year under a foreign aid deal signed in
2010 with then-Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, a longtime U.S. ally..
Critics, including several in Congress, say it doesn't make sense to
follow through with the package, given that new Egyptian President
Mohammed Morsi, elected last summer, has given decidedly mixed signals
about relations with the U.S. While he has toned down his rhetoric since
his election, in 2010 - the same year the aid package was struck -
Morsi attacked Obama for supporting Israel. [more . . .]
The man in the White House wheels and deals according to his pro-UN, pro-Palestinian agenda, an agenda at variance with the majority of Americans. He hides his actions behind an uninquisitive, complicit media. Story here.
President Obama will likely choose Susan Rice as his next Secretary of State. FRC reports:
[...] As a member of both the Clinton and Obama administrations, Rice has
been a shameless advocate for exporting abortion-on-demand--even to
countries with moral objections. "Reproductive rights are human rights,"
she tweeted on World Population Day. "They are essential, which is why
the U.S. works tirelessly to protect them."
Like Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice has several liberal cheerleaders,
including Planned Parenthood, National Organization for Women, and
Emily's List. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about
global diplomacy under Susan Rice, take this statement from Planned
Parenthood chief Cecile Richards: "Susan Rice has consistently
affirmed... [and] understands the important role the United Nations
plays in promoting and protecting women's health around the world,
especially in developing countries. We expect that she will work
effectively with other countries to fulfill the UN's development agenda,
including the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) on maternal health,"
whose goal is to "achieve universal access to reproductive health care"
[read: abortion]. For more on Susan Rice's record--and the red flags her
nomination to State would raise--check out FRC's new backgrounder.
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) on Friday accused President Barack Obama
of ushering in a second Ottoman Empire in the Middle East through his
foreign policy.
Speaking on the House floor, Gohmert accused the Obama administration
of allowing Iran to influence Iraq by pulling U.S. troops out, and
suggested the attacks on U.S. diplomatic missions in the Middle East and
North Africa are the result of waning American influence from that
decision, The Hill reported.
“Thank you President Barack Hussein Obama. This will be quite a
legacy for you,” Gohmert said. “I‘m not one of those who says he’s not a
Christian. All I know is that’s between him and God. But what I do know
is he has helped jump start a new Ottoman Empire and left our friend
and ally Israel so vulnerable in this sea of radicalism that he has
helped bring to the surface.”
Gohmert said a recent report showed that approval for the U.S. among
those in Muslim countries had slipped from 33 percent under President
George W. Bush in 2008 to now just 15 percent under Obama, according to
The Hill. A Pew Research Center survey
released in June noted that the median approval in Muslim nations for
Obama’s policies has declined over the last three years from 34 percent
to 15 percent.
“This president is trying to buy affection from people who are
bullies, who are radical Islamists, who want to destroy us. You’re not
going to get love and affection, you get contempt,” Gohmert said.

It doesn’t matter who is in office of the POTUS, it would have
happened anyway given the “time” we live in. Obama just hurried the plan
along. Oh, and “the plan” I speak of was prophesied in the Books of
Daniel and John.
Is it me ? I see Obama showing the American ppl he don’t care ! He
will win by fraud & if he loses he has destroyed the USA econmicaly (
light the fuse ) so he don’t care.
Yes I,m afraid your right on the Daniel and John….not afraid
myself, but it is so obvious what is coming down the pike now more than
ever,,,,and yes obama has done his role in helping bring on the
prophecy…..most will not want to recognize this reality until its
wayyyyyyy to late,,,,,maybe when Israel is on fire, and the mideast
enemys lay in waist from Israels last stand and its nukes, will people
realize hey maybe the Bible was right…….read or listen to Revalations
folks open your eyes and ears..armageddon is closer then we think…..
Just so you all know, the republicans voted overwhelmingly against
Rand Paul’s proposal to restrict giving American dollars to countries
like Egypt, Libya, and Syria. That is your republican party at work
I agree PAX. Obama, the mystery man, should have never been allowed
into the Oval Office but he was. There is a great blindness in America.
The year 1948 was the pivotal point.
You are correct, it’s all part of the master plan to bring the US
down “equal” to the rest of the world. As he weakens the US he stands by
or even encourages the coming caliphate into this new 21st century
group of superpower nations. You cannot have an islamic caliphate with
the kind of power and influence they are seeking with a superpower based
on freedom standing in the way like the US.
You see kids that’s why the Emperor is disarming us, taking our
nuclear arsenal down to 1500 (with hopes to get even lower to 3-500)
while our enemies are building weapons, and bankrupting this nation. We
are too well armed and too rich compared to other nations! Once we are
broke and defenseless this Ottoman Empire will roll in because there
will be no one left to stand in the way!
And then there is the matter of Armageddon in the book, Revelation
of John. I was near that battle-zone in 1986 and it is a tankers
nightmare with 200 foot high hills on either side of a river valley that
goes from the Sea of Galilee to the Mediterranean Sea. If Hezbollah
comes down from the north with Syrian tanks they will hit a choke point
and be decimated. But then when God enters the fight it will not matter
what your fighting in he can destroy what ever he wants since the
Weapons of God are not of this world.
What did we expect electing a Muslim named Barack Hussein Obama?
If his name isn’t a dead giveaway, I don’t know what is. His name
sounds like he is the the leader of Kenya or Somalia. America be
careful what you wish for, you just might get it. And in this case we
wished for a politically correct Muslim sympathizer and that’s exactly
what we got. If the US reelects him for a 2nd term, then this country
will get whatever it deserves.
Maybe Hussein Obama is the antichrist after all. He came in as a
world savior during the election and what he’s led up to is a total all
out war in the Middle East between Israel and Iran and whomever else.
It might drag the whole world into their conflict.
You are correct. With all due respect the Congressman is incorrect
though. I doubt seriously that a caliphate will actually take place.
During the Psalm 83 war, Israel will destroy all its enemies in close
proximity. Which are the current countries of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon,
Egypt and fantastically the West Bank is specifically mentioned. I say
that for those unfamiliar with the Bible. If you are a Christian,
Biblical prophecy is not fantastic. It just is. WWIII is described in
Ezekiel chapters 30 and 38. Most theologians who have researched
eschatology are confident that both wars are prior to the rapture and
the tribulation described in the Book of Revelation. Islam will not look
like it does today in the future. I don’t know exactly into what it
will mutate. Many believe it will fuse with apostates of Christianity
and Judaism. Some believe it will fuse with Roman Catholicism after the
current Pope is gone. It may revert to its actual pagan origins.
Many are indecisive as to the exact countries involved in WWIII since
present day country borders are a manufacture of man and not the areas
God established or recognized. Some countries most everyone agrees on
are Russia, Germany, Turkey, Ethiopia, Sudan, Iran. Some that may or may
not be involved are China, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and many
countries in Indo-China.
One thing is for sure. Neither, Mr. Obama or Mr. Morsi, or any other human for that matter, is in charge of any of this.
When we read Obama’s executive order 13603 (section 801 PVIII) in
conjuction with HLS purchasing billions of rounds of ammo &
distributing them to governmental departments (fish and game, forestry
dept, etc), you know that something isn’t right with Obama and this
administration. Here, we have a president who has appointed Islamic
Brotherhood to his administration & saying that the 9/11 attack was
over a Youtube video? (that was released in June) Now we‘re hearing it
could’ve be an “inside job” of the security team from Wales? While all
of this is going on, Obama is sleeping soundly in Las Vegas & states
that there wasn’t any indication that something like this was going to
happen? Obama couldn’t tell the truth if his life depended on it.
Gohmert is right…and it‘s about time some more representatives start
talking openly about Obama’s ideologies, which are NOT in the best
interest for our nation.
Yes, he is one of the VERY few who are saying it…we must face cold
facts re WHY Congress not acting to rein in this evil ROGUE regime…b/c
most “R”s are corrupt too & are either being threatened or
complicit. Check out a DHS Insider’s comments:
“And forget about the R‘s vs D’s b/c nearly all of them are all
playing for the same team. .. They’ve allowed Communists to enter every
gpvmt institution inside the beltway, and just about everyone let it
happen, helped it happen or watched it happen.”
“The Obama doctrine,.. is one of orchestrated deconstruction of
countries getting in the way of the reconstruction of the Islamic
Caliphate. Once established, the Islamic Caliphate will usher in a
repressive global religion complimentary to the larger globalist agenda.
Accordingly, Syria cannot be allowed to exist in its current form, nor
can Israel, but for different reasons…
The Obama doctrine of foreign policy is the globalist doctrine, except
.. employs the effective use of the MB to advance the globalist agenda.
Another big problem is I don’t know if Romney & crew even realize
these things. For too many, this stuff is just too unbelievable plus
don’t have the necesssary“hard” evidence to accuse, convict. All bases
covered…..that’s why they went “rogue”. Who knows – maybe they’ve been
threatened too.
With the last OPEC meeting.I would say Rep. Louie Gohmert is quite
correct.with Iran and Venezuela calling for a new currency backed system
for the sale of oil and a new bank OPEC bank of Arab States that in
fact could be construed as the new Ottoman empire.
If Americans re-elect Obama, he’ll finish the United States off –
constitutionally, economically and culturally. This will please the
radical anti-white racist diversity mobs until they realize there is no
more free stuff, paid for by other people’s money, to be swipped by the
Federal government. If Americans re-elect this man, they deserve the
oppression and poverty that he and his radical pals will acheive.
American Idol nation is going to meet it’s maker.
so….don’t let the little kenyan bast^rd ruin us….we know we mush
lead the charge against this communist if he gets elected again. Let the
American-wars begin.
Obama’s foreign policies might work if the rest of the world shared
our values. They don’t. And he his narcissism blinds him to that. It
will take a generation or longer to recover from the damage he’s done.
For Obama to get to heaven,
He must see the whites in this country suffer what the Blacks did,
for at least as long or nobody gets to paradise.
THAT’S Black LIBERATION Theology.
This isn’t just obamas fault. This is also everyone in congress and
those who took an oath to deffend this country’s fault. Not one person
has challenged him. He should have been arrested 3 years ago allready.
All you congressman do is run your mouth’s. Where‘s the damn military
leader’s at? Are they in on this to? Has everyone we put in power become
our own enemy’s? STFU and do something!
Love the use of the middle name! I admire the back bone that many
of the TX representatives use openly. Too bad more of our state leaders
don’t speak out and condemn BHO like Rep. Louie Gohmert.
The only thing Jimmy Carter has up on Barry is that he can prove
his citizenship and his whole life has been an open book unlike Barry’s.
Anyone care to dispute that?
BUDDYBAG IS EVIL . . . Better idea. Have the governments step aside
and let the people fight it out. All the Christians who want to kill
Muslims – and all the Muslims who want to kill Christians – you all go
to a remote location, say the Gobi desert, and you go at each other
until somebody is annihilated. You have your messiah . They have theirs.
You have your gubs They have theirs. Problem solved.
I‘m sure you’ll all be the first ones on the plane – all camo’d up. Let us know how it turns out.
WangDang
No fun without collateral damage. I say we stand by and let them have
their way with you, then when they have sated themselves on the lemmings
we can do bidness. Useless tools have a function. Don’t ever sell

BUDDYBAG IS EVIL
All the Christians who want to kill Muslims – and all the Muslims who want to kill Christians
________________________________________________
DEMOCRATS.ARE.EVIL is the username I was addressing, not a statement.
You expose your ignorance here. Christians do not want to kill Muslims. I certainly dont
Its the other way around. Every Christian I know just wants to go about their business
peacefully without interference. Muslims are ultimately unable to tolerate the existence
of any other belief system.
Peace accords, peace treaties, peace agreements, etc – they’re all a FARCE because
these people dont want peace. American leadership has always made the mistake of
attempting to apply a western mindset to the Arab world, and the fact is, they dont think
like us. They’re a warring people. It does not matter what you give them, it will never be
enough. Their worldview includes destruction of Israel/western society and world dominance.
And even if you gave them that, they’d find something else to fight about.
So, yes, there are those of us who care enough about our country and our lives that
we’re willing to pick up a firearm if necessary to defend your freedom to sit in your
jammies at home on sunday and heckle whomever you like.
I researched the crusades and discovered things I didn’t realize. I
always thought/was taught that the crusades were fought to force
Christianity onto people…no, far from it. The Muslims attacked Israel,
you know the place that Christians have pilgramed to for centuries
because CHRIST was born and killed in that region. the Muslims killed
3,000 christians. We went to avenge them.
let them come here they have to come a shore on the east or west
coast they would be doing us a great favor by weeding out all the
liberals . all we have to do is stay to the west of them, play the call
to prayer and you have a target
barry can recite the adan (muslim call to prayer) in perfect arabic (it’s their admission of faith prayer).
what do Larry Klayman, Pamela Geller and Orly Taitz have in common?
1. They’re Jewish
2. They have questions about barry’s natural born citizenship (and thus his eligibility to be potus)
I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.
Heres my 2 cents, when a man changes his name from more of a
western style name to a muslim name sits in a black radical preachers
church and claims to not hear anything, throws his white grandmother
under the bus is mentored by two American Radicals (Frank Marshall Davis
an Bill Ayers) launches his political career in the most corrupt city
(Chicago). Panders to the select few in this country (Gays, Unions) Uses
the black and hipanic race for political purposes. SPEAKS VOLUME about
ones Demeanor/Charector. In a NUT Shell A pure
Communist/Marist/Socialist<—–Pick your poisen. Bad for America and a
disaster for the world.
Nope, I sure don’t. But, since they were there already with a goal in
mind, perhaps we should have stayed until it was done. I think that is
what Gohmert was saying. Also, that with the exploding growth of a new
Ottoman Empire we might have been able to keep Iraq from being
influenced more by Iran.
I pretty sure that was his point. Saving any Country from being a
part of a new Ottoman Empire especially after spending so much money and
losing so much blood on said Country.
What do you think? (Besides that we should have never been in Iraq in the first place)
The-Monk
Exactly what is the goal in Afghanistan and what was the goal in Iraq?
It seems to me that we achieved the goal within the first couple months
in both countries.
What i thought was based on what i was told by the repubilcans –
which was that Iraq was a direct threat to our existence and had to be
removed in order to establish a middle east democracy. That turned out
to be a lie and misguided policy. You are asking what i would do right
now? I would remove our troops from the line of fire and remove all
embassies from islamic countries. People talk about creating the
environment of freedom over there, but that is exactly what lead to the
muslim brotherhood has gaining control in egypt, libya, and iraq – and
at the same time, the republicans are blaming it all on Obama….Which
tells me that nothing has changed in America
If you knew the history of the relationship between Iraq and the
Brits (Westerners and main alleys of the US) you would know why Iraq was
considered a threat. Here’s a quickie lesson for you;
After WWI the Brits wanted to go into Turkey and didn’t have the man
power. Since they controlled Iraq (just like India) they asked Iraq to
help. Iraq said no; the Turks were their friends. In 1920 the King of
Iraq and the Brits reached a deal. Iraq would help the Brits conquer
Turkey and if successful, Iraq would win it’s freedom. Well, they won
and the Brits reneged on the deal. For 17 years they continued control
of Iraq. Then in 1937, with Hitler doing his thing, the Brits granted
Iraq it’s freedom. BUT, the Brits would keep the port city (Kuwait)
cutting Iraq off from the Persian Sea. They pleaded and the Brits agreed
to leave a space open on the East side of the Country and put the
King’s brother (or son, I forget) in charge of Kuwait. 50 years later,
after struggling to get Iraq going, they asked the US for permission the
take Kuwait back through Madeleine Albright. All are weapons storage
was full and military contractors were having massive layoffs. So the US
agreed and Iraq went in. Then we said, “what do you guys think you’re
doing” and rained down 40 days and nights of hell, emptying our
warehouses and keeping jobs. Iraq vowed revenge and started a WMD
program. Any scientist who failed was shot.
Any scientist who failed was shot. So, they told Hussein the nuke
program was working to keep from being shot by Hussein. One of the
scientists escaped and even did a 60 Minutes show on it. I even remember
the Sec of Labor at the time, Robert Reich, being grilled hard about
why we were in Iraq. Everyone was saying it was for oil and the
Government didn’t want that said. So, during this “grilling” Reich said,
“You want to know why we’re there? You really want to know why we’re
there? Jobs. That’s why US jobs.” I watched it and remember it well.
You see, the intel coming right from Hussein’s scientists was that
the nuke program was working. And if you figure in what the Brits (our
friends) did to them up until 1937, the struggles to make a Gov, them
being told it’s OK to take Kuwait back the all hell for 40 days and
night WITHOUT taking Hussein out. Well, that’s why we went back in the
second time. We and the Brits both, owe Iraq some rebuilding and safety
from Iran. Or don’t try teach real history at Dr. Paul camps? The US AG
back then was Ramsey Clark who happened to be a friend of mine. So I got
my history lessons about what we did from him and about the Brits did
from a friend of Gandhi and Nehru who witnessed it in person. Now think
about all this please.
Ramsey Clark was the first US person to enter Iraq after the 40 days
and nights of hell. It was just 1 week after the bombing and was did it
illegally. The US Gov denied anyone to visit but he went anyways. We
talked for hours about what he saw. THIS is what drove my friend Ramsey
crazy and literally hate the US Gov.
Concise Facts, Timeline and History about Kuwait
700′s – Kuwait became a part of the Abbasid empire
1500′s became part of the Ottoman Empire
In 1899 Kuwait became a British protectorate
Kuwait Independence in 1961
Allied with Iraq during the Iran-Iraq War
Occupied by Iraq in August 1990
The Iraqi forces were defeated and the emir of Kuwait was reinstated.
Do you remember the Iraq soldiers surrendering to reporters as they
were leaving Kuwait? Do you remember them setting fire to oil rigs? Ever
wonder why?
Iraq gave up and asked for permission the leave Kuwait. We said OK
and gave them 48 hours (the time might be off but that’s what I
remember) to leave. When crossing the desert, we were there with
bulldozers and Blackhawk helicopters. We dug trenches in the sand,
forced them into them (soldiers, wounded and medics) with the helio’s
than buried them alive. They set fires in retaliation for us not keeping
our word on free and safe passage back to Iraq. Those who found
reporters with cameras (on the roads) surrendered to them because we
were after them.
As for Afghanistan, I don’t know too much about that. But, India, Iraq and some other regions; Oh, yeah!
“Exactly what is the goal in Afghanistan and what was the goal in Iraq?”
The goal of going into Iraq the first time was J O B S. It’s that
simple. We had made so many weapons we didn’t have any place to store
the next-gen weapons. Massive layoffs in 3rd party contractors were
happening. Then, Iraq asked us if they could go into Kuwait and take it
back (It was part of Iraq in the past). We saw an opportunity to clear
up some space and hatched a plan. We told them yes and then acted like
it was an invasion (remember the Hussein trials? He keep saying Kuwait
was part of Iraq). Hence the 40 days and nights of 2,000 sorties a day.
Cleaned up the storage issue and the 3rd party contractors could go back
to work, more layoffs were prevented and people were rehired. And Bush 1
left Hussein in charge. And he vowed REVENGE against the USA!!! And he
went to work on a nuke program. He would ask his scientists how things
were going. When the lead scientist said, “not so well”, Hussein would
pull out his pistol, shoot him right there in front of the other
scientists and put the #2 guy in charge. After a few times of this
happening they started to lie to Hussein. “Oh, Mr. Hussein, the nuke
program is going splendidly!” This started the false intel of the
weapons program and the reason the Brits, Russians and US ALL were
fooled into believing it. Even the intel coming from Israel was wrong.
Bush 2 is in office now and Daddy (Bush 1) likes Jeb (Son 2) more
than George (Son 1). A bit of family feuding going on. At this time all
this intel is coming in about Iraq and it’s nuke program. Everyone, and I
mean everyone; Russia, Britain, Israel and the USA are getting the same
reports. Hussein is working on a nuke program and it’s “going along
splendidly”. Bush 2 wants to impress Daddy and decides to go in and get
Hussein. Something Daddy couldn’t even do. Besides, the USA and Britain
know what happened in Desert Storm and that Hussein is seeking revenge.
The IAEA can’t even get in to verify anything. The UN approves a US
invasion.
(Starting to sound a bit like Iran but without Bush 2?)
So we go in and find no nukes. But the scientists are alive because they
lied to save their lives. We figure it out and decide to finally do
something nice and help them out with security, power and water and with
a new Gov since Hussein is dead. You see; we know what we did in Desert
Storm and are trying to make amends with the people. Bush 2 is happy
because he finished the job his father started and now we try to be the
“good guys”. That’s why we were still in Iraq. Obama doesn’t know any of
this and is just trying to get votes. He really doesn’t care about Iraq
or if our troops are there. Remember, he did send more troops in too.
Hussein was part of the Ba’ath Party and ruled with an iron fist
because all the different sects were always fighting for power. With
Hussein gone the other sects came in, while we were trying to finally do
something good, they started causing trouble. We started fighting them
and chased them into Afghanistan. Al-Qaeda got involved with the Taliban
and we are still there for some stupid reason; trying to stabilize an
un-stabilizing situation. As I said before, I don’t know much of the
history of Afghanistan.
Ask Dr. Paul about all of this. He’s been a Washington politician for
some time and should be able to verify all of this for you. I hope this
answers your questions. As you can see, I didn’t white-wash any
Republican actions or motives. I didn’t bash the Democrats, Independents
or even Ron Paul. I hope you appreciate that and have your answers.
Please feel to ask anything else.
Also:
We do have a mad man in Iran that wants the return of the Mahdi (the
12th Imam) and the Caliphate. We also have Egypt with the Muslim
Brotherhood who want a Caliphate and Sharia Law. The World is real
screwed up and if Obama stays in power it will only get worse because he
hates America and likes Muslims more than us. He will bring the US to
its knees; and we might never be able to stand again.
Monk it is really hard to follow your connections. You say we went
into Iraq in 2003 to stop their nuclear program? How come we found
zero evidence of it (and Bush was looking for it, for political reasons)
and honest minds like Colin Powell saw that we were duped and quit in
disgust?
Nevertheless, if you say the goal of Iraq was to get rid of their
nuclear weapons program – then we no longer should be there. mission
complete, case closed. Afganistan tried to get nuclear weapons and Al
Qaeda has moved into other countries – why are we still in Afganistan –
what is the goal?
We cannot prevent the spread of an idea in the middle east – especially using our heavy footprint.
“This president is trying to buy affection from [people who are
bullies], who are radical Islamists, who want to destroy us. You’re not
going to get love and affection, you get contempt.”
Now you’ve gone and done it Gohmert… that’s statement that will
awaken the Ron Paul / Gary Johnson folks who will use that against you.
WE are the “bullies”, not the radical Islamists. WE brought all this
all ire upon ourselves… NOT the radical Islamists. They’ve just been
minding their own business until WE “bullied” them into radicalizing,
rioting, terrorizing and murdering.
I’m willing to wager 99.8% of the citizens of there United States
have no idea who – what – where – why – when the Ottoman was. It was a
great point, but for the libs, way way over their heads.
SOY. It’s important to continually point out both enemies at the
gates. You believe it to include all Republicans and Conservatives and
those of us who supported anyone other than Ron Paul, and now your 1st
runner-up… Johnson.
I see YOU and your ilk (ohh, that’s right… you’re Constitutionalists…
you can’t be ALL bad right? Meh) along with Obama/Dem Party loyalists
as the enemy. Based on what I‘ve read over the months from The Blaze’s
posters… you’re behind in the polls and a wee bit of a minority SOY. But
you like that dontcha’? The kid in the back of the class… irritating
and heckling the smarter kids. As I’ve stated numerous times…
malcontents and miscreants best describe the Ron Paul / Gary Johnson
Obama enablers these days.
SLAYER. I go after Ron Paul and his acolytes (you) for free. Call
it a Public Service. While he rides off into the sunset… we are left
with his idological step children. The good choice you’ve made as of
late is to not mention his name as you did when I first came on The
Blaze. Seems‘ you’re trying to fit in… lol. Good job SLAYER. Btw… still
voting for the “other guy”…??
BARBER2. You’re welcome for the laugh. BUT… this IS serious
business when we look at it in a serious way. The supposed “Liberty
Movement”… “Viva La Revolucion-aries”… the Ron Paul isolationist
ideology (and their SOY styled parrots) tend to side with America’s
enemies (both here and “over there”). These are the same idjits that
fall behind Bradley Manning, shake hands with Code-Pink and apologize
for Palestinians, Islam and Iran while blaming America and patriotic
Americans, along with Israel for all the problems around the world.
they team with humanities friends and blame humanities enemies and
those who are causing the problems nothing wrong with that time 2. btw
Romney is Obama but white so basically the only reason for him over
Obama is racism.
INDI… you could be beaten about the head and shoulders with a
baseball bat and you would still get up antagonize common sense
Americans with nonsensical rants, musings and mumblings. I’m not sure
whether I should give you kudos for your perserverance or tell you to
ask your nurse to up your meds.
It’s beyond belief that the other Paul / Johnson acolytes here don’t
disown you. Must be that they realize that one more vote for Obama
(sorry, Paul / Johnson / Goode) is wayyy more important than taking you
to task. Same reason they tend to stick up for the racists, bigots,
White Supremicists, drug abusers, child porn advocates, the incestuous,
neo-Nazi’s, radical Islamists and even Louis Farrakhan along with any
OTHER nut that happens along and attaches itself/themselves to “The
Liberty Movement”…. or speaks highly of it.
Paulies & Johnstonites, please give it up. Your guy lost fair
& square and Johnston has no chance. A vote for Gary J is a vote for
Obama. Obama must be taken out of the White House, then this will buy
you more time to push for establishing your 2016 3rd party. Time is
running out and another 4 by this destroyer & fraud will cease all
chances of you guys to attain your goal. Please guys, vote for Romney on
this round, Obama has to be stopped.
I hear you guys saying Romney is more of Obama, but you don’t know
that for certain. Its a chance we have to take, we all know what we’re
in for with more of the rogue criminal fraud tearing our nation down
faster than a speeding auto-train.
i will say he is not a christian. Jesus said look at the fruit to
see what they bear. a good tree cannot bear evil fruit and an evil tree
cannot bear good fruit. the fruit he bears is evil. he is a muslim and
probably a radical one. he had friends in pakastan in palastine and
muslim brotherhood for years. now he pretends he is for poor people when
he defended slumlords against tentants who had no heat in chicago
winters. aborted babies still alive thrown in closets. hell i think if
he gets gets elected he will be worse than hitler because he is setting
up israel now.
It started with Carter.Appeasement has been the rule ever since.
can not just blame one President.have been paying billions of dollars in
ade ever since.
hey with 99 wks to look for work, food stamps allowing beer
,cigarettes, steaks and cakes,no work required to get welfare, more like a
lazy-boy recliner??
If we ever exploit ALL our natural resources like the 1.5 trillion
barrels of shale oil in the US and our NG we can tell the entire middle
east to F OFF. That‘s the only reason we’re in that region and once we
stop paying them trillions of dollars for oil and use our natural
resources we can be done with them.
Kill all so called ‘green energy’ programs here and rescue our coal
industry from the Marxist POS currently destroying it we’ll be okay.
Right now though our world is about to have a massive legacy of Obama
left behind; that of a regional war in the Middle East in which Israel
may fall and Iran arise as the dominate power; along with war between
China – Japan.
Understand, the world is shifting dramatically now in the way of
geopolitical alliances and of the governments; Obama unleashed this with
support to the Arab Spring and the failure to support the real
Democratic uprising within Iran.
Due to his massive failures, his name shall bear shame in history worse than Chamberlin.
As you may know Barry sees America as the cause of all the worlds
problems, hence the apology tour, the most sickening display of a
President I’ve ever seen. I believe Barry when he says he‘s going to
fundamentally transform America because he’s doing it. He’s determined
to lower our standard of living and our influence throughout the
world. In short he’s making us pay, literally trillions in dollars and our
civil liberties are further eroded with the Marxist heathen in charge.
PRO: Obama is just trying to fulfill the Dreams of His Father : “
social justice” / aka revenge for Western colonialism and capitalism !
There is an angry man hidden under those well-tailored outfits. ( I
have a photo from campaign 2008 of Michele doing the Black Power
Clenched fist raised in the air and a scowl on her face that would
strip paint from a wall ). Think that clenched fist represents Obama
and this New Far Left Democrat Party of radicals. They operate under a
new set of ” ruLes.” Pure Alisnky. Pure Marxist. Pure un-American.
NOBAMA 2012 NO DEMOCRATS 2012
We don’t have a congress – obama has showen us that– they are
spineless punks trying to keep their do nothing jobs- living off the tax
payers — One Term should be the standard and paid 100,000,00 a year
with no other bennies.
This transformation began when we thought we could “Nation Build”
our enemies homelands. Remove dictators and whoever is the #2 most
powerful influence in the country fills the vacuum. In this case it was
theocracies. Bad foreign policy under Bush and Obama. We hear the
shouts of “Obama will let Iran get a nuke!” Yes he will. Just as Bush
let North Korea build one while declaring he would not let it happen.
Different parties….same policies….wake up sheep.
“Nation Build” our enemies homelands
***
We did that after WW2 successfully. But after WW2 means AFTER the war.
We are trying or were trying to build during an active war in
Afghanistan. An enemy that has secure bases (with only occasional
pinpricks by drone) in the Swat Valley & northern.Southern
Waziristan is not AFTER the War.
Iraq was just about “after the War” & we almost succeeded, but Obama cut & ran like a yellow dog.
Now Iran owns 1/2 to 2/3rds of Iraq. It owns the core of Iraq which is enough for Iran to project some power.
WANKABOUT . . . “Iraq was just about “after the War” & we almost succeeded, but Obama cut & ran like a yellow dog.’
Sorry, but conservatives all said “Bush won the war.” So which is it?
I believe the yellow dog you’re looking for is Reagan, who cut and
ran like a yellow dog after 83 of our Marines were killed in Beirut.
Reagan is the reason Arab radicals are as bold and ruthless as they are
today. But gosh, he sure looked good in jodhpurs, didn’t he? Wow what a
guy!
WANGO. Actually it was more like 240 or more Marines if memory
serves me right, along with 50 some-odd French paratroopers. They should
have never been there in the first place… like sitting ducks, lightly
armed and not permitted to take the high ground. That was a major
mistake. Reagan certainly made a blunder there. Marines DO NOT cut and
run… neither does the rest of our Military.
No excuses for that blunder. It should have given us firmer resolve in the region as opposed to walking away…
WANGO. I’ll still take Reagan over any who have succeeded him as
POTUS. Let’s throw his immediate predecessor in that mix too just for
sh!ts and giggles eh?
The Marines were not allowed to have loaded weapons in a war zone
on Beirut. So was it a mistake to send them there or was it the lack of
sound tactics.
I remember the Lebanese Civil War. It started when the PL F______ O
started setting up checkpoints & selectively killing Christians.
they had set up in Lebanon after trying to take over Jordan (Black
September) & had been routed by the Jordanians.
We did win in Iraq. You can look at the casualty count it was way
down. We could have lost Germany after WW2 & we won that war.
New information reveals President Barack Obama conducted interviews
with entertainment magazines and posed for a photo spread last Friday as
American embassies burned and 21 countries erupted into ant-American
protests.
Instead of spending precious time dealing with the developing crisis
in the Mid East and with his foreign policy scheme in a total freefall,
on Friday morning, September 14, Obama was giving an interview to the
entertainment magazine "People en Español" and participating in a photo session with photographer Omar Cruz.
This interview was not on his public schedule and was hidden from the public.
The interview came to public attention when individuals who work for the magazine tweeted about their visit after the event was over.
Update 9/20/12:
"Unserious" in one sense, but not in
another. The man has goals and a strategy, and has relied on a heavily
doctored, largely unexamined, biographical narrative. Today the Washington Examiner published an important investigative report that begins to redress the myths perpetrated upon us: The Obama You Don't Know"
First came the shouting match between Netanyahu and the U.S. ambassador. Then Martin Dempsey told an audience in London that he didn’t want to be “complicit” in an Israeli attack on Iran. The upcoming joint military exercise between the U.S. and Israel was then scaled back, and this murky report about the U.S. contacting Iran to distance itself from an Israeli strike appeared. Then came the floor fiasco at the Democratic convention over the platform’s Jerusalem language. Now this.
Question for foreign-policy wonks: When was the last time relations between the U.S. and Israel were this poor?
With
new evidence that Iran is on the cusp of finalizing a nuclear weapon, a
pointed war of words between the U.S. and Israel escalated Tuesday, as
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the Jewish state
will not wait for the Obama administration to sign off on a possible
strike against Iran.
“The world tells Israel ‘wait, there’s still time.’ And I say, ‘Wait
for what? Wait until when?’ Those in the international community who
refuse to put red lines before Iran don’t have a moral right to place a
red light before Israel,” Netanyahu declared at a press conference in what is being viewed as a direct rebuke to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Clinton stoked Israeli fears earlier this week when stated that the U.S.
is “not setting deadlines” regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
“Good-faith” talks with the genocidal regime, she added, are the best
solution to the nuclear impasse. [more...]
The most comprehensive pro-and-con discussion of Israel's dilemma - does Israel attack Iran's nuclear installations or wait? - can be found in The Times of Israel article, "The most fateful decision of all."
Rep. Mike Rogers, the Michigan Republican who chairs the House
Intelligence Committee, says that his much-discussed meeting with
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem late last month
did, in fact, devolve into an sharp confrontation between Netanyahu and
the American ambassador to Israel, the former National Security Council
official (and former Obama campaign Jewish liaison), Dan Shapiro.
Rogers
told a Michigan radio interviewer earlier this week that he had not
previously witnessed such a high-level confrontation, and he described
Israeli leaders as being at "wits' end" over what they see as President
Obama's unwillingness to provide them with his "red lines" in the effort
to stop Iran's nuclear program. He also said that neither the Israelis
nor the Iranians believe that Obama would use force to stop the nuclear
program. (UPDATE: Rogers said as well he believes the Israelis will "probably" bomb Iran if they don't get clearer red lines from the U.S.) [more. . .]
This commentary from the Family Research Center is spot on:
When it comes to foreign policy, the Obama Administration has made it clear they will have two priorities -- promoting homosexuality and promoting abortion. The Administration has not only vocalized this policy but been quick to put taxpayer funds and resources behind it -- regardless of other countries' views on the matter. Earlier this year in the country of Bulgaria, the Administration spent tax dollars on a Gay Bulgarian Film Festival as well as an "after show party." In June, the U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria, alongside 12 ambassadors from other countries, endorsed that country's gay parade in an official declaration.
This brought the attention of 20 civil society organizations who wrote a letter to the embassies expressing their outrage that these countries would seek to promote activity that is against Bulgarian law, which clearly defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman. This all seems to be part of the President's push, headed up by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, to use official U.S. resources to promote homosexuality. For example, while the Administration is slow to defend oppressed Christians who are being killed for their beliefs in Muslim and communist countries, they took less than one day to condemn the Russian government for barring a homosexual pride parade in Moscow. It is clear with this Administration that family and babies take a back seat to exporting immorality.
Utterly shameful. It's the foreign policy of the lowerarchy of the netherworld.
Need a good overview? Victor Davis Hanson reigns in my view as one of the most astute, perceptive and eloquent observers writing today. You will find his review and summary useful.
The Family Research Council reports: (the bolding is my emphasis)
Rule number one of federal lawmaking: When a Senator says his colleagues would be "more comfortable" voting on a bill after an election, it spells trouble. And in the case of Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), that trouble is spelled LOST, or Law of the Sea Treaty. It's been 30 years since President Reagan first sank the idea of a maritime bureaucracy, but that hasn't stopped big government advocates from dredging up the policy every few years and selling it to Congress as buried treasure. Yesterday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. Kerry, and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta took turns pitching the 1982 treaty in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee as a way to "bring order" to the world's oceans. The way they see it, LOST would help define the boundaries in international waters and create a "more peaceful" sea environment.
It sounds innocent enough, but behind those benign talking points is a dangerous agenda that would undermine U.S. security--and siphon away millions of dollars in the process. Lost in LOST's hearing were the facts. For one, proponents neglected to mention that the treaty would force America to release its hold on miles and miles of natural resources. Instead of profiting from the discoveries of oil or gas, U.S. companies would have to transfer those royalties to an international bureaucracy in charge of "redistributing" that wealth (sound familiar?) to needy nations. According to the U.S. Continental Shelf Task Force, those resources "may be worth billions, if not trillions, of dollars."
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), one of two dozen Republicans that oppose LOST, was emphatic about the threat. "[This] would be the first time in history that an international organization would possess a taxing authority, and it would amount to billions of American dollars being transferred out of the U.S. Treasury," he wrote. What's more, this "International Seabed Authority," or ISA, would have the power to haul the U.S. before global tribunals for perceived violations, order countries to share cutting-edge technologies, and bar the Navy from using global waterways for defense or military purposes. And if member nations decide to change the treaty? "There is no guarantee that the treaty will remain in the form that it is at the time of ratification. Under its terms, its content can later be changed by an amendment process that does not require the approval of the U.S. government."
Of course, most people recognized the bill was bad when Sen. Kerry announced during yesterday's hearing that he "would like to see this treaty stay out of the hurly-burly of presidential politics." Translation? I plan on pushing this bill after November 6 so that Senators can't be held accountable for passing such a controversial bill. Obviously, Sen Kerry and friends are hoping to follow the pattern of last year's START treaty, which is to wait until the lame-duck session to force unpopular and potentially unconstitutional policies on the American people.
Unfortunately for voters, this is a favorite tactic of the administration: using treaties to get radical policies through the country's backdoor. But, as FRC expert (and former ambassador to the U.N.) Ken Blackwell knows, this is exactly the kind of slippery slope that masks the destruction of American authority on everything from religious freedom to parental rights. What else could explain the Left's advocacy for the U.N.'s Convention on the Rights of the Child or the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women? They understand that once we dip our toe in the oceans, there will be no way to stem the tide.
If, on the other hand, the members of the U.S. Senate trouble themselves to study, or at least read, the text of the Law of the Sea Treaty, they would immediately see it for what it really is: a diplomatic dinosaur, a throwback to a bygone era when U.N. negotiations were dominated by communists of the Soviet Union and their fellow travelers in the Third World.
President Obama gloats over killing Osama bin Ladin. Now comes a real test. Will he stand up to China on behalf of blind human rights activist Chen Guangcheng? He wants to meet with Secretary Hillary Clinton who is now in China. The Financial Times reports: (HT: Drudge)
The fate of blind Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng was injected into the US presidential election on Thursday after Republican challenger Mitt Romney described the incident as “a day of shame for the Obama administration”.
Mr Romney joined a series of Republican lawmakers who piled criticism on the Obama administration after an agreement to allow Mr Chen to remain in the country appeared to collapse.
The Obama administration was forced into damage limitation after Mr Chen said he had changed his mind and now wanted to leave China, one day after the state department announced a deal with the Chinese authorities to allow him to reunite with his family and attend law school.
Mr Chen, a 40-year-old self-taught lawyer, took refuge in the US embassy last week after making a dramatic escape from house arrest in a rural area 300 miles from the capital.
Mr Romney said that it appeared US officials had “sped up” Mr Chen’s departure from the US embassy in Beijing because of the summit meeting being attended by Mrs Clinton and had not put in place measures to assure Mr Chen’s safety once he left the embassy.
“If these reports are true, this is a dark day for freedom,” he said. . . .
The administration also came under intense criticism from Republican lawmakers and some human rights groups at a specially called congressional hearing on the case. Christopher Smith, a Republican congressman from New Jersey, said that the administration had “dropped the ball significantly” and that it would be “scandalous” if the US did not do everything it could to protect Mr Chen.
Bob Fu, who runs ChinaAid, a Texas-based Christian group that has worked extensively on human rights issues, added to the pressure on the administration. “Secretary Clinton, this is the moment to deliver on what you promised over the last few years,” he told the hearing. . . . [more...]
Me: Now, it seems to me, is a test of the importance President Obama places on freedom and human rights. Is anyone brimming with confidence?
Truly disgusting. Obama acts more and more like dictator-in chief. Who needs Congress?
The language of the Palestinian Accountability Act could not be clearer: “[N]o funds available to any United States Government department or agency … may be obligated or expended with respect to providing funds to the Palestinian Authority.” Obama literally waived that statutory language off yesterday afternoon.
Obama is sending $200 million to a terrorist organization. Story here.
Obama is to be greatly feared. He does not respect the Constitution. He has dictatorial hunger.
That's the question Bret Stephens asks in a recent Wall Street Journal column.
Should Israelis and pro-Israel Americans take President Obama at his word when he says—as he did at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee policy conference in Washington, D.C., on Sunday—"I have Israel's back"?
In answering "No", Stephens draws on chapter 5 of Peter Beinart's soon-to-be published book, "The Crisis of Zionism," in which Beinart cites how Mr. Obama came to his views about Israel - "a coterie of far-left chicago Jews who 'bred in Obama a specific, and subversive, vision of American Jewish identity and of the Jewish state."
Stephens concludes:
Is he [President Obama] being truthful when he represents himself as a mainstream friend of Israel—or is he just holding his tongue and biding his time? On the evidence of Mr. Beinart's sympathetic book, Mr. Obama's speech at Aipac was one long exercise in political cynicism.
Read the whole thing. and learn more about Obama's Chicago Jewish associations.
Barack Obama promised Israel’s security was sacrosanct with secure recognized defensible borders. He ran as a pro-Israel candidate. It was all a lie.Now a new movie released today [yesterday] highlight’s Barack Obama’s shameful and dangerous anti-Israel policies.
The wholesome image of yoga took a hit in the past few weeks as a rising star of the discipline came tumbling back to earth. After accusations of sexual impropriety with female students, John Friend, the founder of Anusara, one of the world’s fastest-growing styles, told followers that he was stepping down for an indefinite period of “self-reflection, therapy and personal retreat.” Seems he had a penchant for women.
Read the article for a summary of former high-fliers in the yoga world who have crashed.
Obama had no hesitation in demanding the ouster of nominal ally Hosni Mubarak just eight days after protests erupted in Egypt. He still hasn’t demanded the ouster of the mullahs of Iran.
I think it hard for anyone to argue against Caroline Glick's analysis. She writes:
[...] TO UNDERSTAND the depth and breadth of America's losses, consider that on January 25, 2011, most Arab states were US allies to a greater or lesser degree. Mubarak was a strategic ally. Saleh [President of Yemen] was willing to collaborate with the US in combating al- Qaida and other jihadist forces in his country.
Gaddafi was a neutered former enemy who had posed no threat to the US since 2004. Iraq was a protectorate. Jordan and Morocco were stable US clients.
One year later, the elements of the US's alliance structure have either been destroyed or seriously weakened. US allies like Saudi Arabia, which have yet to be seriously threatened by the revolutionary violence, no longer trust the US. As the recently revealed nuclear cooperation between the Saudis and the Chinese makes clear, the Saudis are looking to other global powers to replace the US as their superpower protector.
Perhaps the most amazing aspect to the US's spectacular loss of influence and power in the Arab world is that most of its strategic collapse has been due to its own actions. In Egypt and Libya the US intervened prominently to bring down a US ally and a dictator who constituted no threat to its interests. Indeed, it went to war to bring Gaddafi down.
On December 1st, I reported that the Obama administration is imperialistically pushing its views on homosexuality on other countries. Now the Family Research Council reports that on December 6th,
. . . the Obama administration put a bow on its efforts to radicalize other countries on the issue of homosexuality. In their observance of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made it clear where their "human rights" priorities lie. In keeping with the anniversary, the White House issued a "Presidential Memorandum" directing "all agencies engaged abroad" to promote the homosexual and transgender agenda. While the President was throwing his full weight (and America's reputation) behind gay rights, Mrs. Clinton was delivering an egregious speech to the U.N. On a day devoted to the defense of real human rights (like the sanctity of life and religious liberty), Clinton dedicated her remarks to shaming countries that opposed homosexuality. What makes her speech even more presumptuous is that the United Nations--much like the United States--is still sharply divided on the issue of sexual orientation.
Unfortunately, that didn't stop the former First Lady. Her comments about the "invisible minority" did more than decry violence (which we too strongly oppose) against people who engage in homosexual or transgender behavior. She made it clear there is no level of disapproval, no matter how peaceful, that would be acceptable. In fact, Clinton went so far as to directly compare the religious teachings against homosexuality to "honor killings, widow burning, female genital mutilation" and support for slavery. For other countries, many of whom rely on America for foreign aid, this represents a major clash of worldviews. And it comes, as we have witnessed since 2009, at the expense of religious freedom. The President is elevating homosexuality at the same time he is deemphasizing religious liberty (another legitimate human right). Now, rather than improving relations with our global neighbors, Obama is imposing an alien agenda on other nations.
While the rhetoric has been elevated, the policy isn't new. Our friend Austin Ruse of C-FAM has already reported on threats to withhold aid from the poor African country of Malawi unless they changed their laws on homosexuality, and the U.S. ambassador to El Salvador offended her hosts with a "Gay Pride Month" message back in June. If the President did the same on other issues, his own liberal allies would accuse him of "cultural imperialism." Unfortunately, the administration's bullying approach to diplomacy doesn't serve America's interests and runs the risk of making enemies of our friends. [my emphases]
Me: The Administration's hard-nosed, imperialistic, ham-fisted strategy to force countries around the world to treat homosexuality as "good and right sexuality" must be stopped and reversed. Congress should make its objection known to the President and the State Department.
The Obama State Department has an interesting interpretation of "diplomacy." From Kenya to El Salvador, ambassadors are tasked--not with advancing America's interests--but the interests of the President's radical social agenda. In most cases, this aggressive strategy has made more enemies of nations than friends.
Mari Carmen Aponte is Exhibit A. As the U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador, Aponte has taken it upon herself to school an overwhelmingly Christian nation about the "virtues" of homosexuality. In a controversial op-ed, she lectured the Salvadorians about the need to embrace homosexuality. She also implied that the country's disapproval of the aberrant behavior was somehow rooted in ignorance. The column sparked such outrage that leaders of the country have called for her removal "as soon as possible so that El Salvador may enjoy the benefits of having a better person as a government representative..." "Ms. Aponte," they write, "in clear violation of the rules of diplomacy and international law... intend[s] to impose on Salvadorians... a new vision of foreign and bizarre values, completely alien to our moral fiber, intending to disguise this as 'human rights.'"
Whether Mari keeps her post will be up to the U.S. Senate. Because her nomination was so controversial (see Sen. Jim DeMint's column on her ties to Cuban spies), the President hired her by recess appointment. At the end of the year, Senators will decide if she's fit to continue serving a nation whose values she so openly scorns. Unfortunately, the State Department may be heightening tensions in more countries than one. According to reports, Aponte was just following orders. Back in June, Secretary Hillary Clinton ordered all embassies "to publish op-eds in support of LGBT awareness month." [my emphasis]
First, the Obama administration wouldn't defend the law. Now, officials won't even abide by it! Adding to a steady stream of corruption charges, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) is confirming pro-lifers' suspicions about Kenya 's new abortion-friendly constitution: the U.S. government had a hand in lobbying for it. FRC has monitored the situation since last February, when members of our senior staff met with Bishop Anthony Muheria of the Kenyan Diocese of Kitui. He strongly believed that organizations were receiving U.S. funds to advocate for a new constitution that included the legalization of abortion-on-demand. This report only confirms Bishop Muheria's and Congressman Chris Smith's (R-N.J.) worst fears--that taxpayer dollars were, in fact, being used to sway people to vote "yes" on the referendum legalizing abortion--over the objection of most Kenyans.
According to the GAO, Obama officials funneled millions of dollars to efforts aimed at legalizing abortion in Kenya, despite the Siljander Amendment, which bans the government from lobbying for or against abortion overseas with taxpayer dollars. To promote the President's radical agenda, the U.S. actually spent money on a legal organization, International Development Law Organization (IDLO), which analyzed the draft constitution and recommended the inclusion of the abortion plank. "The Obama administration basically hired surrogates to do its dirty work of abortion promotion in Kenya" Smith said, "... with the result being a new Kenyan constitution that vastly expands access to abortion... courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer." Together with Rep. Smith, who chairs the House subcommittee that oversees Africa's foreign affairs, FRC will continue working to ensure that the U.S. stops using your tax dollars to bully countries with strong pro-life views.
Turkey's Erdogan is in Somalia these days. Obama is on Martha's Vineyard. Erdogan has a tactical and strategic plan for the Horn of Africa. It's not clear Obama has. J.E. Dyer writes:
The US at the moment is perilously close to being used for the purposes of others, like a dying and dithering empire. In spite of the significance of the setback for Al-Shabaab in Somalia, to everything from the piracy problem to dominance in the Middle East, the US is nowhere to be seen in the strategic aftermath of this tactical victory. We have no idea what to do with it. But Erdogan does.
The White House has changed photo captions that originally said "Jerusalem, Israel." Now they say only "Jerusalem." "Israel" has been dropped. What do you think of that? I think it's treacherous. It does not represent the feelings and disposition of the American people. Obama has turned American foreign policy against our friends and allies. Despicable.
To date, Obama’s stewardship of US foreign policy has been marked by gross naivete, incompetence and a marked willingness to demean and weaken his country’s moral standing in the world.
Imagine what will happen if in the next year and a half Obama embarks on a course that makes his Israel policy the norm rather than the exception in US foreign policy.
Me: Concisely and accurately said. Read the whole article.
This is, by far, the video of videos. Thanks to Dan F, who opines, "Someone didn’t do his homework and allowed brilliant Harvard historian Niall Ferguson to deviate from the script he was handed at MSNBC. This is surely a one-off and a mistake they won’t allow to be repeated. I urge you to enjoy this precious video now, before the dumbstruck folks on Morning Joe recover and MSNBC has it taken down."
As of this writing, I think Barry Rubin's piece is the most thoughtful, informed, and accurate of anything I have read. He's the director of the Global Research in International Affairs (GLORIA) Centerand editor of the Middle East Review of International Affairs (MERIA) Journal. In 2010 he published The Muslim Brotherhood: A Global Islamist Movement (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2010) and before that Islamic Fundamentalism in Egyptian Politics, Second Revised Edition Palgrave Press (2002, 2008).
There is no good policy for the United States regarding the uprising in Egypt but the Obama Administration may be adopting something close to the worst option. This is its first real international crisis. And it seems to be adopting a policy that, while somewhat balanced, is pushing the Egyptian regime out of power. The situation could not be more dangerous and might be the biggest disaster for the region and Western interests since the Iranian revolution three decades ago.
Experts and news media seem to be overwhelmingly optimistic, just as they generally were in Iran's case. Wishful thinking is to some extent replacing serious analysis. Indeed, the alternative outcome is barely presented: This could lead to an Islamist Egypt, if not now in several years.
What's puzzling here is that a lot of the enthusiasm is based on points like saying that the demonstrators are leaderless and spontaneous. But that's precisely the situation where someone who does have leaders, is well organized, and knows precisely what they want takes over. . . .
This is the article to read if you read no other. Read the whole thing. It's important. (HT: Powerline via Jim Hoft)
Update 2/2/11 - Kathryn Jean Lopez conducts a follow-up interview with Rubin here. Again, this man strikes me as one of the most experienced, sober-minded commentators available. Excerpt:
[...] And I also have seen that many of the people proclaiming there is nothing to worry about now have been wrong over and over again in the past. They were wrong about the Iranian revolution, the PLO, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Turkish regime, Hamas, Algeria, al-Qaeda, and much more. A few days before the September 11 attack, an article came out in a magazine criticizing me for warning of the threat from revolutionary Islamist terrorist groups, saying that this was a fantasy.
And finally, another ignored or misunderstood factor is the regional situation. On one hand, I constantly hear from Arabs, Turks, and Iranians, as well as Israelis and people from other countries, that they have lost faith in the United States as a reliable ally Have no doubt, this will further undermine that feeling. Those who can are moving toward making deals with Iran or at least avoiding conflict with those they think are destined to be victorious. . . .
What a fiasco. What kind of nincompoops are at the head of an Obama administration that invites a guest pianist to humiliate the United States on its own soil and in the presence of its President and other American dignataries? Of course it goes along with Obama bowing to heads of state in his travels around the world. Jay Nordlinger calls Lang Lang, the guest pianist, a kind of court pianist for President Obama and the Chinese leadership." (my emphases follow)
What did he play? Most notably and significantly, he played a famous anti-American propaganda song. Famous in China, that is. Wei Jingsheng, the great Chinese democracy leader, exiled in the United States since 1997, wrote a letter to Congress and Secretary of State Clinton. He said, “I listened to that music with a big shock.” Wei explained that the song, “My Country,” or “My Motherland,” comes from “the best-known Communist propaganda movie about the Korean War,” depicting the Chinese army’s fight with the Americans. The movie is called "The Battle of Triangle Hill." Wei said that the movie is as well-known in China as "Gone with the Wind "is here.
The song refers to the Americans as “wolves” or “jackals,” and says that the Chinese will use weapons to deal with them. Wei commented, “Is that not an insult to the USA to play such . . . music at a state dinner hosted by the US President? No wonder it made Hu Jintao really happy.” Yes, no wonder. As Wei pointed out, Hu is not ordinarily given to public emotion, but he emotionally embraced Lang Lang.
Do you find this shocking? I certainly do. What does Obama think of the America he is supposed to represent and defend? Does he not recognize a responsibility to defend America's honor? Nordlinger goes on:
Jay Nordlinger has sobering words to share with reference to the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to the United States. Nordlinger writes:
In a below post, I mentioned Gao Zhisheng, one of the best people in all of China — I believe he is still alive. [Me: See my earlier post on Gao Zhisheng here.] With the PRC, the government we Americans are honoring this week, you never know. Gao has been incredibly brave: He has defended Falun Gong practitioners, “house church” activists, and other people targeted by the government for arrest, torture, and death. Gao has paid very, very heavily for his principles.
In April 2009, Gao’s wife, Geng He, wrote a letter to the U.S. Congress. I wrote about this matter in a column, here. The letter in full can be found here. Geng began,
“On the night of September 21, 2007, my husband, with a black hood thrown over his head, was kidnapped and brought to an unknown location. For 59 days, many people tortured and ravaged him in all kinds of ways, including beating him with an electric prod, inserting bamboo sticks into his reproductive organs, holding lit cigarettes close to his eyes and nose, etc., so that his eyes would burn and he would be forced to inhale smoke. My husband told me later that he was in such unbearable pain at the time that his sweat, blood, and other bodily fluids covered the floor. Among the reasons the authorities gave for tormenting my husband was that he had written to the United States Congress.”
The head of the government that has done this to Gao, we are honoring at the White House, our American home. Isn’t that wonderful? Are you proud?
Geng went on to write,
“I remember that, when my husband was still free, whenever major human rights cases arose in China, he would always look towards the United States. He always said: The United States is the cornerstone of world freedom, human rights and social order; the United States would not tolerate despotic rule and the wanton abuse of the weak and the masses.”
Ain’t that quaint? I’m sure you’re laughing your head off. One more excerpt, from Geng’s letter:
“Honorable members of the U.S. Congress, please help me support my husband, lawyer Gao Zhisheng, so that the evil forces will know that there is resistance against persecution; so that the millions of Chinese suffering this despotic rule will know that the United States is concerned about their human rights situation, and will not give up. My husband would be more resolute because of this, the Chinese people would feel inspired because of this, and China and the world would eventually transform because of this!
“Many thanks for your concern!”
“Your concern”? Our concern?! I’ll tell you what our concern is, lady: to make money and go with the flow.
At the beginning of this administration, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, traveling in Asia, said that human rights would not be allowed to “interfere” with such urgent issues as “the global climate-change crisis.” This week’s pomp in honor of Hu Jintao proves that the administration is true to its word: Human rights sure as hell aren’t interfering.
I remember well the silence of the Obama administration in 2009 when Iranians rose up in revolt against their rulers. Fouad Ajami in a Wall Street Journal article today also recalls that moment. He writes: (my bolding)
. . . Mr. Obama had come into office with a belief that he knew and understood the Islamic world. He was proud that Islam was a strand in his identity. He was sure that the policy of his predecessor had antagonized Islam. President George W. Bush's "diplomacy of freedom" was not given the grace of a decent burial. "Ideology is so yesterday," Secretary Clinton proudly proclaimed in early 2009. Realpolitik was to be the order of the day.
The Bush diplomacy had declared an open ideological assault against the Iranian theocracy. Mr. Obama would offer that regime an olive branch and a promise of engagement. Syria had been pushed out of Lebanon and viewed as a renegade regime that had done its best to frustrate the American war in Iraq. The Obama diplomacy would offer the rulers in Damascus diplomatic rehabilitation.
Thus the word went forth to the despots in the region that the American campaign on behalf of liberty that Mr. Bush had launched in 2003 had been called off. A new Iraqi democracy, midwifed by American power, was fighting for its life. The Obama administration would keep Iraq at arm's length.
This break of faith with democracy was put on cruel display in the summer of 2009, when the Iranians rose in revolt against their rulers. True, American diplomacy was not likely to alter the raw balance of power between the regime and its democratic oppositionists. But the timidity of American power, and the refusal of the Obama administration to embrace the cause of the opposition, must be reckoned one of American foreign policy's great moral embarrassments. . . [more . . .]
Me: Mr. Ajami goes on to talk about Syria, Lebananon, and Tunisia in this article. But I wanted to record Ajami's assessment of President Obama's inexplicable and shameful failure to support the 2009 uprising. Though it struck me forcefully at the time, it seemed that Obama's silence never received the attention it deserved. Now the distinguished Fouad Ajami offers his opinion, and explains how the ebb of Americn power continues to affect the Middle East.
(Ajami is a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution. )
Update 1/20/11 - Regarding the visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao to Washington, Ellen Bork notes that awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Liu Xiaobo
undermined the carefully cultivated image of a legitimate regime in full control of, and tacitly accepted by, its people. Chinese leaders fear international support for individuals who are brave and stubborn enough to work for a democratic alternative to the Communist party. . . .
On January 13, he [President Obama] did meet at the White House with a group of experts and activists on China. But people who would have offended Chinese leaders — people like Harry Wu, the former prisoner of China's laogai or forced labor camps; Rebiya Kadeer, the exiled Uighur leader; Ngawang Sandrol, a Tibetan nun jailed and tortured for her songs of praise for the Dalai Lama; Wang Juntao, a former Tiananmen protester; or Wan Yanhai, a famous AIDS activist and longtime associate of Liu Xiaobo — they were absent.
The president's determination to avoid using the weight and prestige of his office to support democratic opponents of authoritarian regimes in China, Iran, Belarus, and elsewhere is quickly becoming a hallmark of his administration. It's a dispiriting trend. And it suggests that the president simply does not grasp the meaning and potential of Liu Xiaobo and his fellow Chinese democrats. (my emphases)
is producing global disorder. Bret Stephens has a good article in the Wall Street Journal. In it he explores "the danger of America's will to weakness." "Multipolarity" (which Obama likes) produces a U.S. foreign policy akin to that of the European Union,
"a kind of diplomatic air guitar: furious motion, considerable imagination, but neither sound nor effect. When a European leader issues a stern demarche toward, say, Burma or Russia, nobody notices. And nobody cares. . . .
The significance?
The small and distant abuses of power, would grow bolder and more frequent. America's exhortations for restraint or decency would seem cheaper. Multipolarity is a theory that, inevitably, leads to old-fashioned spheres of influence. It has little regard for small states: Taiwan, Mongolia, Israel, Georgia, Latvia, Costa Rica. The romance of the balance of power might have made sense when one empire was, more or less, as despotic as the next. It is less morally compelling when the choice is between democracy and Putinism, as it is today for Ukraine.
He continues:
We are now at risk of entering a period—perhaps a decade, perhaps a half-century—of global disorder, brought about by a combination of weaker U.S. might and even weaker U.S. will. The last time we saw something like it was exactly a century ago. Winston Churchill wrote a book about it: "The World Crisis, 1911-1918." Available in paperback. Worth reading today. [more . . .]
Caroline Click asserts that Glenn Beck's "Restore Honor" Washington gathering was really a rally to restore the "American Creed." "The American Creed," she says,
has two main components. First, its core belief is that America is an exceptional country and that the American people are an exceptional nation. Second, it asserts that as Abraham Lincoln first said outright, America is the last, best hope for mankind.
She states further,
The reason Beck's rally was a watershed event is that in the Age of Obama, millions of Americans for the first time feel the need to reclaim what they believe is their birthright as Americans. Because what distinguishes Obama from his predecessors is that he is the first American President who clearly rejects the American creed. [emphasis added]
Is Glick right? Does Obama reject the "American Creed" as she defines it? Yes. As Glick points out:
This basic truth was first brought to the public's attention during Obama's visit to Turkey last year. A reporter there asked him, "[Do] you subscribe, as many of your predecessors have, to the school of 'American exceptionalism' that sees America as
This is sick. One looks for an exit from the current mad house. Except it's for real. Our president is part of the cast of characters making it all possible. From Jay Nordlinger:
Have you heard the latest news from the U.N. Human Rights Council — the most exalted
body within the most exalted body in all the world? Cuba, as a nation —
as a government, rather — has been elected vice president of the council. In celebration, the
Cuban government put out a statement:
“The election of Cuba to this important post recognizes the
exemplary work of the Cuban Revolution in favor of the human rights of
its people and the world. It also shows respect for Cuba’s active and
committed work as a founding member of the U.N. Human Rights Council in
defense of truth and justice and
for its leadership in favor of the noblest causes.”
Bear in mind that Cuba is a one-party dictatorship
with a gulag. (Therefore, it’s perfect for the U.N. Human Rights
Council.)
Can you stand a
little more news? Miguel d’Escoto, the old Sandinista foreign minister,
and a classic anti-American and anti-Semite, has just been appointed to
the council’s advisory panel. Of course.
And, in this
article, Anne Bayefsky tells us this: “With the
adoption of yet another resolution critical of Israel, the Council has
adopted more resolutions and decisions condemning Israel than all other
191 UN member states combined.”
Our previous
president, George W. Bush, thought that the United States should have
nothing to do with this council — that it was too disgraceful to join.
Too contrary to the U.N.’s founding principles to dignify. His
successor, President Obama, immediately had the U.S. join the council.
The argument of Team Obama was that the U.S., by its presence, would improve the council.
Obama. Seems so. So much for "The One's" brilliant foreign policy. Nile Gardiner writes:
What a difference 18 months and an oil spill makes. In January 2009
Barack Obama was hugely popular on this side of the Atlantic, and could
have walked on water in the eyes of the British media, the political
elites, and the general public. In June 2010 however he probably
qualifies as the most despised US president since Nixon among the
British people. . . [more . . .]
- From NRO - Today marks the 70th anniversary of Sir Winston's "finest hour" speech —
delivered in the House of Commons in the aftermath of the tenebrous
"Miracle at Dunkirk," even as the Nazis marched on Paris. You can read the whole thing here, and listen to audio here.
I pondered whether I wanted to post this or not since I know brave men have fought and died in this war, and I personally know of men, both Brits and Americans, still over there. I hope Blankley is wrong. But if he is right, the sooner we face up to it the better. On other matters Blankley has written about, he has proven a man of sober judgment. Here is his article.
The harm caused by US weakness on the Gaza blockade issue will
reach far beyond the Middle East. Worldwide, America's friends and
allies increasingly realize that President Obamawon't stand with them in controversial circumstances.
Accordingly, those closest to us will calibrate their own interests more
carefully to hedge against US weakness, step by step distancing
themselves from us.
That will inexorably accelerate the pace of
our debilitation -- thus actually further increasing Obama's
self-imposed weakness, undermining US positions worldwide.
The
really grim news is that we face at least 2½ more years of such Obama
policies.
Me: I don't see how Obama's policies can have any other effect, and yes, 2 1/2 years can't go by fast enough.
- Update - I meant to note that as far as I know, YouTube is
fully blocked in Turkey. Accordingly, nobody there has seen the Israeli IDF
videos, allowing the Turkish government to continue their lies.
- I have posted a good bit about Turkey in recent days, and for solid reasons. Now Mark Steyn offers a vivid and sad image that needs noting, painful though it be. Steyn says Turkey's Prime Minister Erdogan
looks at the American hyperpower and sees, to all intents, a late
Ottoman sultan — pampered, decadent, lounging on its cushions puffing a
hookah but unable to rouse itself to impose its will in the world. In
that sense, Turkey’s contempt for Israel is also an expression of near
total contempt for Washington.
Steyn explains that demographics determines destiny:
Charles Krauthammer's articulateness is put to good service once again as he offers a sad (and infuriating) chronicle of Obama's foreign relations and concludes:
This is not just an America in decline. This is an America in
retreat -- accepting, ratifying and declaring its decline, and inviting
rising powers to fill the vacuum.
Nor is this retreat by inadvertence. This is retreat by design
and, indeed, on principle. It's the perfect fulfillment of Obama's
adopted Third World narrative of American misdeeds, disrespect and
domination from which he has come to redeem us and the world. . .
Read the whole thing. What will it take for the magnitude of this man's folly to dawn on the American people? Our enemies sized him up accurately a long time ago. Where is the American protest? This is a theme the Tea Partiers need to emphasize along with big government and economic grievances. Again, read the whole thing.
UPDATE: Ralph Peters explains the consequences of Obama's tragic mismanagement of American Foreign Policy. The following is another MUST READ article. (my bolding)
The world changed this week and we yawned. Our government and media
utterly failed to grasp the meaning of the Iran-Brazil-Turkey nuke deal.
Undercutting the sanctions-lite bargain Secretary of State Hillary Clintonthinks she has with Russia and China was the least
of it.
We're so obsessed with the single (albeit important)
issue of terrorism that we're missing profound global realignments and
the rise of grave new threats.Iran's "agreement" to ship a slice of its enriched-uranium pie to Turkey for reprocessing is
pure
gamesmanship. We expect that from Iran. The alarming part is that, this
time, Turkey and Brazil are in on the game.
The ludicrous terms of this con-job have long since been overtaken
by events. Brazil's President Lula da Silva and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoganaren't trying to stop Iran's nuke program.
They're eager to facilitate it.
What Brazil and Turkey
just did wasn't intended to impede Tehran, but to make it harder for
Western powers to impose sanctions. Both countries want Iran to run
interference for them.
Once Iran gets the bomb and takes the
(slight) heat, Brazil and Turkey both intend to go nuclear.
Brazil wants vanity nukes to cement its position as South America's
hegemon, a regional alternative to the US. Turkey's slow-roll Islamist
government dreams of a new Ottoman age -- as it turns from the West to
embrace the Muslim states it ruled a century ago. After easing Tehran's
path to the bomb, Ankara will claim that it needs its own nuclear
capability to maintain regional stability.
But the coming
widespread proliferation of nuclear weapons will be profoundly destabilizing. Each Middle Eastern country, especially, that goes nuclear increases
the probability of a nuke exchange exponentially.
As Western
states fantasize about a "nuclear-weapons-free world," their
developing-world darlings are scrambling like mad to develop nuclear
arsenals. And we don't get it.
Which leads to the second problem
with our asleep-at-the-wheel foreign policy (content to equate
Arizona's human-rights record with China's): New alliances are
developing that are already destabilizing our strategic architecture --
even without nukes.
Let's connect a few of the
Iran-Turkey-Brazil dots:
The Family Research Council is launching The Social Conservative
Review. An e-mail states it will constitute
"a unique summary of news of interest to social conservatives.
The focus of this
comprehensive collation of stories, journal articles,
and op-eds is the intersection of moral concern and public life, the
issues that reflect and shape not only events and legislation, but the
nation's very soul.
FRC will send the Review out twice monthly.
It will feature important
pieces from the country's leading newspapers, magazines, journals and
conservative Web sites. FRC's goal is to help keep you informed -- and
ready to act -- about the policies and proposals, research and reports
that bear directly on life, liberty, family and Christian faith.
Me: I have reproduced the e-mail below, complete with links. It looks to me like a fabulous service.

Family Research Council's major adult stem cell initiative, "Adult

It makes us look weak and afraid of radical Islamists in general. It
also makes us look dishonest, and it insults the intelligence of
everyone Obama aims to impress. This kind of exercise asks Muslims to
engage in intellectual dishonesty, rather than challenge them to oppose
the radical Islamists in their midst and defeat that ideology.
Me: But Morrissey is too kind by half. This is an administration that is half-witted. Better make that 1/4 witted. I happened to hear Rush Limbaugh for a few minutes today. I think he's right when he concluded that President Obama sees every problem and threat in the world as America's fault, and if we play nicey nice, everybody will love us. Oh Lord, save us from Ivy League intellectuals like Obama. (I am not taking the Lord's name in vain. It is a sincere prayer of mine.)
So this is it. Obama and
his idealists, young whippersnappers, think the United States is the
problem. We are attacked because we deserve to be. We have been
imperialists, we've overstepped our bounds in the world, it's totally
understandable why they would attack us and commit acts of terror
against us. . .
So the premise is we deserve it. We
should have been hit. It's time we face the facts, and to prevent them
from hitting us again, we have to acknowledge that. Stop calling them
Islamic radicals, stop calling them terrorists, instead build them
hospitals. I can't imagine what it must be like to be in a family who
lost someone in 9/11 to hear about this guy's plans for the Muslim
world. . .
If we can't call Islamic radicals "Islamic radicals," we shouldn't call
rapists "rapists." We should call them "uninvited perpetrators," or
"penetrators," if you wish. Murderer? Do you think people like being
called a murderer, even if they are? Do you think that's going to forge
a decent relationship with murderers? All we do is put 'em in prison,
we make 'em even angrier. And calling them murderers is even worse. We
just need to call them something vague, like a "carbon footprint
reducer." That covers all kinds of political correct ground.
Serial
killer? Who wants to be called a serial killer? Doesn't that offend
people? We don't want to have an outreach to serial killers, do we?
"Global warming warrior." Call a serial killer a "global warming
warrior" 'cause that's a massive carbon footprint reduction.
Update: 3/3/10 - Ralph Peters throws a searchlight on what's happening, a must-read for anyone interested in the Argentina-Falklands story. In Peters' eyes, The Obama administration comes off as "being either incompetent, malevolent -- or
both."
(Original Post) - Niles Gardiner, writing for the U.K. Telegraph, says:
The Obama administration’s decision to remain neutral in the dispute
between Great Britain and Argentina over the Falkland Islands is a
shameful decision that will go down very badly across the Atlantic. . .
Even by the relentlessly poor standards of the Obama administration,
whose doctrine unfailingly appears to be “kiss your enemies and kick
your allies”, this is a new low. The White House’s neutrality in a major

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 1:33pmYou are correct, it’s all part of the master plan to bring the US down “equal” to the rest of the world. As he weakens the US he stands by or even encourages the coming caliphate into this new 21st century group of superpower nations. You cannot have an islamic caliphate with the kind of power and influence they are seeking with a superpower based on freedom standing in the way like the US.
You see kids that’s why the Emperor is disarming us, taking our nuclear arsenal down to 1500 (with hopes to get even lower to 3-500) while our enemies are building weapons, and bankrupting this nation. We are too well armed and too rich compared to other nations! Once we are broke and defenseless this Ottoman Empire will roll in because there will be no one left to stand in the way!

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 1:40pmAnd then there is the matter of Armageddon in the book, Revelation of John. I was near that battle-zone in 1986 and it is a tankers nightmare with 200 foot high hills on either side of a river valley that goes from the Sea of Galilee to the Mediterranean Sea. If Hezbollah comes down from the north with Syrian tanks they will hit a choke point and be decimated. But then when God enters the fight it will not matter what your fighting in he can destroy what ever he wants since the Weapons of God are not of this world.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 4:17pmWhat did we expect electing a Muslim named Barack Hussein Obama? If his name isn’t a dead giveaway, I don’t know what is. His name sounds like he is the the leader of Kenya or Somalia. America be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. And in this case we wished for a politically correct Muslim sympathizer and that’s exactly what we got. If the US reelects him for a 2nd term, then this country will get whatever it deserves.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:28pmYou are correct. With all due respect the Congressman is incorrect though. I doubt seriously that a caliphate will actually take place. During the Psalm 83 war, Israel will destroy all its enemies in close proximity. Which are the current countries of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and fantastically the West Bank is specifically mentioned. I say that for those unfamiliar with the Bible. If you are a Christian, Biblical prophecy is not fantastic. It just is. WWIII is described in Ezekiel chapters 30 and 38. Most theologians who have researched eschatology are confident that both wars are prior to the rapture and the tribulation described in the Book of Revelation. Islam will not look like it does today in the future. I don’t know exactly into what it will mutate. Many believe it will fuse with apostates of Christianity and Judaism. Some believe it will fuse with Roman Catholicism after the current Pope is gone. It may revert to its actual pagan origins.
Many are indecisive as to the exact countries involved in WWIII since present day country borders are a manufacture of man and not the areas God established or recognized. Some countries most everyone agrees on are Russia, Germany, Turkey, Ethiopia, Sudan, Iran. Some that may or may not be involved are China, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and many countries in Indo-China.
One thing is for sure. Neither, Mr. Obama or Mr. Morsi, or any other human for that matter, is in charge of any of this.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 11:10amWhen we read Obama’s executive order 13603 (section 801 PVIII) in conjuction with HLS purchasing billions of rounds of ammo & distributing them to governmental departments (fish and game, forestry dept, etc), you know that something isn’t right with Obama and this administration. Here, we have a president who has appointed Islamic Brotherhood to his administration & saying that the 9/11 attack was over a Youtube video? (that was released in June) Now we‘re hearing it could’ve be an “inside job” of the security team from Wales? While all of this is going on, Obama is sleeping soundly in Las Vegas & states that there wasn’t any indication that something like this was going to happen? Obama couldn’t tell the truth if his life depended on it. Gohmert is right…and it‘s about time some more representatives start talking openly about Obama’s ideologies, which are NOT in the best interest for our nation.

Its the other way around. Every Christian I know just wants to go about their business

of any other belief system.

Nope, I sure don’t. But, since they were there already with a goal in mind, perhaps we should have stayed until it was done. I think that is what Gohmert was saying. Also, that with the exploding growth of a new Ottoman Empire we might have been able to keep Iraq from being influenced more by Iran.
I pretty sure that was his point. Saving any Country from being a part of a new Ottoman Empire especially after spending so much money and losing so much blood on said Country.
What do you think? (Besides that we should have never been in Iraq in the first place)

Exactly what is the goal in Afghanistan and what was the goal in Iraq? It seems to me that we achieved the goal within the first couple months in both countries.
What i thought was based on what i was told by the repubilcans – which was that Iraq was a direct threat to our existence and had to be removed in order to establish a middle east democracy. That turned out to be a lie and misguided policy. You are asking what i would do right now? I would remove our troops from the line of fire and remove all embassies from islamic countries. People talk about creating the environment of freedom over there, but that is exactly what lead to the muslim brotherhood has gaining control in egypt, libya, and iraq – and at the same time, the republicans are blaming it all on Obama….Which tells me that nothing has changed in America

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:07pmHi Soybom315,
If you knew the history of the relationship between Iraq and the Brits (Westerners and main alleys of the US) you would know why Iraq was considered a threat. Here’s a quickie lesson for you;
After WWI the Brits wanted to go into Turkey and didn’t have the man power. Since they controlled Iraq (just like India) they asked Iraq to help. Iraq said no; the Turks were their friends. In 1920 the King of Iraq and the Brits reached a deal. Iraq would help the Brits conquer Turkey and if successful, Iraq would win it’s freedom. Well, they won and the Brits reneged on the deal. For 17 years they continued control of Iraq. Then in 1937, with Hitler doing his thing, the Brits granted Iraq it’s freedom. BUT, the Brits would keep the port city (Kuwait) cutting Iraq off from the Persian Sea. They pleaded and the Brits agreed to leave a space open on the East side of the Country and put the King’s brother (or son, I forget) in charge of Kuwait. 50 years later, after struggling to get Iraq going, they asked the US for permission the take Kuwait back through Madeleine Albright. All are weapons storage was full and military contractors were having massive layoffs. So the US agreed and Iraq went in. Then we said, “what do you guys think you’re doing” and rained down 40 days and nights of hell, emptying our warehouses and keeping jobs. Iraq vowed revenge and started a WMD program. Any scientist who failed was shot.
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:08pmAny scientist who failed was shot. So, they told Hussein the nuke program was working to keep from being shot by Hussein. One of the scientists escaped and even did a 60 Minutes show on it. I even remember the Sec of Labor at the time, Robert Reich, being grilled hard about why we were in Iraq. Everyone was saying it was for oil and the Government didn’t want that said. So, during this “grilling” Reich said, “You want to know why we’re there? You really want to know why we’re there? Jobs. That’s why US jobs.” I watched it and remember it well.
You see, the intel coming right from Hussein’s scientists was that the nuke program was working. And if you figure in what the Brits (our friends) did to them up until 1937, the struggles to make a Gov, them being told it’s OK to take Kuwait back the all hell for 40 days and night WITHOUT taking Hussein out. Well, that’s why we went back in the second time. We and the Brits both, owe Iraq some rebuilding and safety from Iran. Or don’t try teach real history at Dr. Paul camps? The US AG back then was Ramsey Clark who happened to be a friend of mine. So I got my history lessons about what we did from him and about the Brits did from a friend of Gandhi and Nehru who witnessed it in person. Now think about all this please.
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:13pmI forgot to add…..
Now you know why the Turks and Kurds hate Iraq so much.
Starting to make some sense now?
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:18pmOne more thing……
Ramsey Clark was the first US person to enter Iraq after the 40 days and nights of hell. It was just 1 week after the bombing and was did it illegally. The US Gov denied anyone to visit but he went anyways. We talked for hours about what he saw. THIS is what drove my friend Ramsey crazy and literally hate the US Gov.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 4:11pmNow consider this:
Do you remember the Iraq soldiers surrendering to reporters as they were leaving Kuwait? Do you remember them setting fire to oil rigs? Ever wonder why?
Iraq gave up and asked for permission the leave Kuwait. We said OK and gave them 48 hours (the time might be off but that’s what I remember) to leave. When crossing the desert, we were there with bulldozers and Blackhawk helicopters. We dug trenches in the sand, forced them into them (soldiers, wounded and medics) with the helio’s than buried them alive. They set fires in retaliation for us not keeping our word on free and safe passage back to Iraq. Those who found reporters with cameras (on the roads) surrendered to them because we were after them.
As for Afghanistan, I don’t know too much about that. But, India, Iraq and some other regions; Oh, yeah!

Please ask again. : )
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:06pmHi Soybom315,
OK…. Part 1
“Exactly what is the goal in Afghanistan and what was the goal in Iraq?”
The goal of going into Iraq the first time was J O B S. It’s that simple. We had made so many weapons we didn’t have any place to store the next-gen weapons. Massive layoffs in 3rd party contractors were happening. Then, Iraq asked us if they could go into Kuwait and take it back (It was part of Iraq in the past). We saw an opportunity to clear up some space and hatched a plan. We told them yes and then acted like it was an invasion (remember the Hussein trials? He keep saying Kuwait was part of Iraq). Hence the 40 days and nights of 2,000 sorties a day. Cleaned up the storage issue and the 3rd party contractors could go back to work, more layoffs were prevented and people were rehired. And Bush 1 left Hussein in charge. And he vowed REVENGE against the USA!!! And he went to work on a nuke program. He would ask his scientists how things were going. When the lead scientist said, “not so well”, Hussein would pull out his pistol, shoot him right there in front of the other scientists and put the #2 guy in charge. After a few times of this happening they started to lie to Hussein. “Oh, Mr. Hussein, the nuke program is going splendidly!” This started the false intel of the weapons program and the reason the Brits, Russians and US ALL were fooled into believing it. Even the intel coming from Israel was wrong.
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:32pmPart 2
Bush 2 is in office now and Daddy (Bush 1) likes Jeb (Son 2) more than George (Son 1). A bit of family feuding going on. At this time all this intel is coming in about Iraq and it’s nuke program. Everyone, and I mean everyone; Russia, Britain, Israel and the USA are getting the same reports. Hussein is working on a nuke program and it’s “going along splendidly”. Bush 2 wants to impress Daddy and decides to go in and get Hussein. Something Daddy couldn’t even do. Besides, the USA and Britain know what happened in Desert Storm and that Hussein is seeking revenge. The IAEA can’t even get in to verify anything. The UN approves a US invasion.
(Starting to sound a bit like Iran but without Bush 2?)
So we go in and find no nukes. But the scientists are alive because they lied to save their lives. We figure it out and decide to finally do something nice and help them out with security, power and water and with a new Gov since Hussein is dead. You see; we know what we did in Desert Storm and are trying to make amends with the people. Bush 2 is happy because he finished the job his father started and now we try to be the “good guys”. That’s why we were still in Iraq. Obama doesn’t know any of this and is just trying to get votes. He really doesn’t care about Iraq or if our troops are there. Remember, he did send more troops in too.
Part 3 is next…..
Verceofreason
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:33pmLouie’s brain cells are having a constant food fight in his head
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:59pmPart 3 (and final)
Hussein was part of the Ba’ath Party and ruled with an iron fist because all the different sects were always fighting for power. With Hussein gone the other sects came in, while we were trying to finally do something good, they started causing trouble. We started fighting them and chased them into Afghanistan. Al-Qaeda got involved with the Taliban and we are still there for some stupid reason; trying to stabilize an un-stabilizing situation. As I said before, I don’t know much of the history of Afghanistan.
Ask Dr. Paul about all of this. He’s been a Washington politician for some time and should be able to verify all of this for you. I hope this answers your questions. As you can see, I didn’t white-wash any Republican actions or motives. I didn’t bash the Democrats, Independents or even Ron Paul. I hope you appreciate that and have your answers. Please feel to ask anything else.
Also:
We do have a mad man in Iran that wants the return of the Mahdi (the 12th Imam) and the Caliphate. We also have Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood who want a Caliphate and Sharia Law. The World is real screwed up and if Obama stays in power it will only get worse because he hates America and likes Muslims more than us. He will bring the US to its knees; and we might never be able to stand again.
soybomb315_II
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 8:19pmMonk it is really hard to follow your connections. You say we went into Iraq in 2003 to stop their nuclear program? How come we found zero evidence of it (and Bush was looking for it, for political reasons) and honest minds like Colin Powell saw that we were duped and quit in disgust?
Nevertheless, if you say the goal of Iraq was to get rid of their nuclear weapons program – then we no longer should be there. mission complete, case closed. Afganistan tried to get nuclear weapons and Al Qaeda has moved into other countries – why are we still in Afganistan – what is the goal?
We cannot prevent the spread of an idea in the middle east – especially using our heavy footprint.

Now you’ve gone and done it Gohmert… that’s statement that will awaken the Ron Paul / Gary Johnson folks who will use that against you.
WE are the “bullies”, not the radical Islamists. WE brought all this all ire upon ourselves… NOT the radical Islamists. They’ve just been minding their own business until WE “bullied” them into radicalizing, rioting, terrorizing and murdering.
It’s OUR fault Gohmert… the “neo-cons”….

I see YOU and your ilk (ohh, that’s right… you’re Constitutionalists… you can’t be ALL bad right? Meh) along with Obama/Dem Party loyalists as the enemy. Based on what I‘ve read over the months from The Blaze’s posters… you’re behind in the polls and a wee bit of a minority SOY. But you like that dontcha’? The kid in the back of the class… irritating and heckling the smarter kids. As I’ve stated numerous times… malcontents and miscreants best describe the Ron Paul / Gary Johnson Obama enablers these days.

These are the same idjits that fall behind Bradley Manning, shake hands with Code-Pink and apologize for Palestinians, Islam and Iran while blaming America and patriotic Americans, along with Israel for all the problems around the world.

It’s beyond belief that the other Paul / Johnson acolytes here don’t disown you. Same reason they tend to stick up for the racists, bigots, White Supremicists, drug abusers, child porn advocates, the incestuous, neo-Nazi’s, radical Islamists and even Louis Farrakhan along with any OTHER nut that happens along and attaches itself/themselves to “The Liberty Movement”…. or speaks highly of it.

Right now though our world is about to have a massive legacy of Obama left behind; that of a regional war in the Middle East in which Israel may fall and Iran arise as the dominate power; along with war between China – Japan.
Understand, the world is shifting dramatically now in the way of geopolitical alliances and of the governments; Obama unleashed this with support to the Arab Spring and the failure to support the real Democratic uprising within Iran.
Due to his massive failures, his name shall bear shame in history worse than Chamberlin.

I believe Barry when he says he‘s going to fundamentally transform America because he’s doing it. Posted on September 23, 2012 at 10:25amThis transformation began when we thought we could “Nation Build” our enemies homelands. Remove dictators and whoever is the #2 most powerful influence in the country fills the vacuum. In this case it was theocracies. Bad foreign policy under Bush and Obama. We hear the shouts of “Obama will let Iran get a nuke!” Yes he will. Just as Bush let North Korea build one while declaring he would not let it happen. Different parties….same policies….wake up sheep.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 10:55am“Nation Build” our enemies homelands
***
We did that after WW2 successfully. But after WW2 means AFTER the war.
We are trying or were trying to build during an active war in Afghanistan. An enemy that has secure bases (with only occasional pinpricks by drone) in the Swat Valley & northern.Southern Waziristan is not AFTER the War.
Iraq was just about “after the War” & we almost succeeded, but Obama cut & ran like a yellow dog.
Now Iran owns 1/2 to 2/3rds of Iraq. It owns the core of Iraq which is enough for Iran to project some power.

Sorry, but conservatives all said “Bush won the war.” So which is it?
I believe the yellow dog you’re looking for is Reagan, who cut and ran like a yellow dog after 83 of our Marines were killed in Beirut. Reagan is the reason Arab radicals are as bold and ruthless as they are today. But gosh, he sure looked good in jodhpurs, didn’t he? Wow what a guy!
TIME_2_END_THE_PAUL_CAMPAIGN_IN_12
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 12:13pmWANGO. Actually it was more like 240 or more Marines if memory serves me right, along with 50 some-odd French paratroopers. They should have never been there in the first place… like sitting ducks, lightly armed and not permitted to take the high ground. That was a major mistake. Reagan certainly made a blunder there. Marines DO NOT cut and run… neither does the rest of our Military.
No excuses for that blunder. It should have given us firmer resolve in the region as opposed to walking away…

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 4:00pmThe Marines were not allowed to have loaded weapons in a war zone on Beirut. So was it a mistake to send them there or was it the lack of sound tactics.
I remember the Lebanese Civil War. It started when the PL F______ O started setting up checkpoints & selectively killing Christians. they had set up in Lebanon after trying to take over Jordan (Black September) & had been routed by the Jordanians.
We did win in Iraq. You can look at the casualty count it was way down. We could have lost Germany after WW2 & we won that war.
