Echoing my own sensibilities concerning the scandals rocking the Obama Administration, Noonan published today a MUST-READ column. She subtitles her article, "Political abuse of the IRS threatens the basic integrity of our government." Right!
How serious is it that the mess be cleaned up? Noonan correctly says:
Everyone involved in this abuse of power should pay a price, because if they don't, the politicization of the IRS will continue—forever. If it is not stopped now, it will never stop. And if it isn't stopped, no one will ever respect or have even minimal faith in the revenue-gathering arm of the U.S. government again. . . . This is not about the usual partisan slugfest. This is about the integrity of our system of government and our ability to trust, which is to say our ability to function. [my emphases]
Anybody paying attention to the practices (scandals) and behavior (cover-ups) of the Obama administration should be outraged to apoplectic proportions. The Obama Administration with its disregard for law, its intrusiveness, and its intimidating tactics, has subjected citizens of the United States to the brink of dictatorial tyranny. Can liberty-loving people survive this Administration? Only, I think, if Congress rises up and successfully asserts its authority over an out-of-control, power-mad, lawless Presidency and bureaucracy. The dormant, sleepy, "see-no-evil" press needs to move beyond a brief moment of indignation and adopt a sustained will to uncover truth (yes, there is such a thing as "truth" despite postmodern philosophical idiocies) and keep the searchlight shining brightly until people are either thrown out of office or thrown into jail (or both, as the case might be). The future of the Republic depends on just such a massive rooting out of the rottenness that pervades this administration and continues to threaten our liberty.
- G.K. Chesterton - “Sound historians know that most tyrannies have been possible because men moved too late. It is often essential to resist a tyranny before it exists.”
I have friends who can't stand Sarah Palin, and for the life of me that hatred makes no sense to me at all. She released the following statement this evening on her Facebook. I think it sensible and agree with it wholeheartedly. (via the Right Scoop) [my bolding]
Let the Light Shine
Today we learned that our government targeted and harassed conservative Americans who simply wanted to be involved in the national discussion. Is it any wonder why Americans are so distrustful of D.C.? I'm sure President Obama is grateful for all the help the IRS gave his reelection campaign, but, still, you have to wonder how the bureaucrats who tried to pull this off can sleep at night.
So many Americans knew this was happening, but many felt defenseless and even helpless against a government that seems to roll along without accountability or sense of obligation to the people it’s supposed to serve. These Americans were mocked for being concerned about this, but now we see light shining on the truth, finally.
This IRS revelation is another step in the unraveling of the Obama administration's self-proclaimed “hope and change.” Between the Benghazi cover-up and the IRS targeting Obama’s political opponents, we see the corruption at the heart of big government.
Americans should remember that this same corrupt IRS will be in charge of enforcing Obamacare. And this same inept and corrupt government will supposedly secure our now unsecured borders in advance of immigration reform and will implement a completely ethical and non-political IPAB panel to make life and death health care decisions for you and your family. Forgive me for not trusting these big government promises any more than I trust the White House’s latest Benghazi spin or the IRS’ fairness.
Despite all of this, I still believe that this “fundamental transformation of America” is temporary. This attempted transformation into a disheartened, weakened, unrecognizable nation is so far below anything Americans deserve. It becomes permanent only if we throw up our hands and surrender to the corruption and cover-ups.
We must demand more light shine on all that’s transpiring in D.C.’s self-absorbed bubble. On the IRS scandal, we must have accountability and a full investigation. On Benghazi, Speaker Boehner must create a Select Committee with full investigative and subpoena authority to get to the bottom of the cover-up. Keep the faith, friends.
Me: Who is it who thinks they can lie to the American people and continue governing as if this is acceptable practice? Government is "of the people, by the people, for the people." Anyone serving in Washington does so as a servant of the people, as an elected representative. We are not pawns to be manipulated at will by our betters. If anyone lies to the American people, that person should be thrown out of office. Bureaucracies should be accountable to Congress. I like Sarah Palin's call to keep the faith and do all in our power to expose the corruption and recover the nation's moral moorings.
The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty released the following encouraging press release:
For Immediate Release: March 29, 2013 Media Contact: Jeff Gasser, [email protected], (202) 349-7201
WASHINGTON, DC – On Friday, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals granted Hobby Lobby’s petition for en banc hearing, agreeing to place Hobby Lobby’s appeal before the entire court rather than the usual three-judge panel. The full court will consider whether to halt enforcement of the HHS mandate, which forces Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a Christian-owned-and-operated business, to provide and pay for emergency contraceptives, such as the “morning-after pill” and “week-after pill”, in violation of the religious beliefs of its owners, the Green family. The court also announced it will expedite oral arguments, with a hearing date expected soon.
“We are grateful that the court granted Hobby Lobby’s petition,” said Kyle Duncan, General Counsel for the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. “Full court review is reserved only for the most serious legal questions. This case asks whether the First Amendment protects everyone’s right to religious freedom, or whether it leaves out religious business owners like the Greens.”
In December, a two-judge panel of the 10th Circuit denied Hobby Lobby’s request to temporarily stop enforcement of the abortion pill mandate. Now, nine 10th Circuit judges will hear Hobby Lobby’s case. Arguments are expected to take place this Spring.
There are now 52 separate lawsuits challenging the HHS mandate, which is a regulation under the Affordable Care Act (aka “Obamacare”). The Becket Fund led the charge against the unconstitutional HHS mandate, and along with Hobby Lobby represents: Wheaton College, East Texas Baptist University, Houston Baptist University, Belmont Abbey College, Colorado Christian University, the Eternal Word Television Network and Ave Maria University.
The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty is a non-profit, public-interest law firm dedicated to protecting the free expression of all religious traditions—from Anglicans to Zoroastrians. For 18 years itsattorneys are recognized as experts in the field of church-state law. After
printing off all 828 pages of new Obamacare regulations released
yesterday, Sen. Mitch McConnell marveled at the bill after stacking it
up in his office to show constituents how big of a mess it could be.
“Just take a look at this giant stack: one day’s worth of ObamaCare regulations. 828 pages in one day,” McConnell wrote on his Facebook page.
“Overall, there are nearly 20,000 pages – with many, many more to come.
This is the owner’s manual for the health care law that’s supposed to
make things better. Are you kidding? This law is a disaster waiting to
happen.” [my emphases]
Note: On the chair, next to the stack is the original 2,700 page Obamacare legislation. This stack is 7 feet 3 inches high."
John Brennan was sworn in today at the White House. He was confirmed as the new CIA director yesterday.
“Brennan was sworn in with his hand on an original draft of the
Constitution, dating from 1787, which has George Washington’s personal
handwriting and annotations on it,” according to the White House. He
does not appear to have placed his hand on a Bible, a Torah, a Koran, or
other sacred religious text as he said the oath.
Me: Should this not be considered another sign of this administration's embracing radical secularism and a continual distancing of itself from Christianity? Consider: free abortions, homosexual marriage, no conscience protection for those opposed to funding abortifacients, and now dissing the Bible in swearing-in ceremonies.
Spokesman John Earnest said Brennan had asked for a document from the National Archives that would demonstrate the U.S. is a nation of laws.
"Director Brennan told the president that he made the request to the
archives because he wanted to reaffirm his commitment to the rule of law
as he took the oath of office as director of the CIA,” Earnest said.
The Constitution itself went into effect in 1789. But troublemaking blogger Marcy Wheeler points out
that what was missing from the Constitution in 1787 is also quite
symbolic: The Bill of Rights, which did not officially go into effect
until December 1791 after ratification by states. (Caution: Marcy's post
has some strong language.)
That means: No freedom of speech and of the press, no right to bear
arms, no Fourth Amendment ban on “unreasonable searches and seizures,”
and no right to a jury trial. [my bolding ]
The Wall Street Journal thinks he would make a good president. I do too. He
is blessedly free of political correctness, that debilitating disease that infects most
everyone in the public eye. THIS TALK IS MUST VIEWING!
Whether this weekend finds you blowing two feet of snow off the
driveway or counting the hours until "Downton Abbey," make time to watch
the video of Dr. Ben Carson speaking to the White House prayer
breakfast this week.
Seated in view to his right are Senator Jeff Sessions and President
Obama. One doesn't look happy. You know something's coming when Dr.
Carson says, "It's not my intention to offend anyone. But it's hard not
to. The PC police are out in force everywhere."
Dr. Carson tossed over the PC police years ago. Raised by a single
mother in inner-city Detroit, he was as he tells it "a horrible student
with a horrible temper." Today he's director of pediatric neurosurgery
at Johns Hopkins and probably the most renowned specialist in his field.
Late in his talk he dropped two very un-PC ideas. The first is an
unusual case for a flat tax: "What we need to do is come up with
something simple. And when I pick up my Bible, you know what I see? I
see the fairest individual in the universe, God, and he's given us a
system. It's called a tithe.
"We don't necessarily have to do 10% but it's the principle. He
didn't say if your crops fail, don't give me any tithe or if you have a
bumper crop, give me triple tithe. So there must be something inherently
fair about proportionality. You make $10 billion, you put in a billion.
You make $10 you put in one. Of course you've got to get rid of the
loopholes. Some people say, 'Well that's not fair because it doesn't
hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made 10.' Where
does it say you've got to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars
in the pot. We don't need to hurt him. It's that kind of thinking that
has resulted in 602 banks in the Cayman Islands. That money needs to be
back here building our infrastructure and creating jobs."
Not surprisingly, a practicing physician has un-PC thoughts on health care:
"Here's my solution: When a person is born, give him a birth
certificate, an electronic medical record, and a health savings account
to which money can be contributed—pretax—from the time you're born 'til
the time you die. If you die, you can pass it on to your family members,
and there's nobody talking about death panels. We can make
contributions for people who are indigent. Instead of sending all this
money to some bureaucracy, let's put it in their HSAs. Now they have
some control over their own health care. And very quickly they're gong
to learn how to be responsible."
The Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon may not be politically correct, but he's closer to correct than we've heard in years.
I wonder what's going on. Does anybody else find this news eery, worrisome or suspicious? Infowars reports (HT: Drudge):
The Department of Homeland Security is set to purchase a
further 21.6 million rounds of ammunition to add to the 1.6 billion
bullets it has already obtained over the course of the last 10 months
alone, figures which have stoked concerns that the federal agency is
preparing for civil unrest.
A solicitation posted yesterday on
the Fed Bid website details how the bullets are required for the DHS
Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, New Mexico.
The solicitation asks for 10 million pistol cartridge
.40 caliber 165 Grain, jacketed Hollow point bullets (100 quantities of
100,000 rounds) and 10 million 9mm 115 grain jacketed hollow point
bullets (100 quantities of 100,000 rounds).
The document also lists a requirement for 1.6 million pistol cartridge 9mm ball bullets (40 quantities of 40,000 rounds).
An approximation of how many rounds of ammunition the
DHS has now secured over the last 10 months stands at around 1.625
billion. In March 2012, ATK announced that they had agreed to provide
the DHS with a maximum of 450 million bullets over four years, a story that prompted questions about why the feds were buying ammunition in such large quantities.
To put that in perspective, during the height of active battle operations in Iraq, US soldiers used 5.5 million rounds of ammunition a month.
Extrapolating the figures, the DHS has purchased enough bullets over
the last 10 months to wage a full scale war for almost 30 years.
I heard part of Limbaugh's commentary today and felt disheartened. Limbaugh says Santa Claus trumps freedom, Santa Claus trumps working, Santa Claus trumps everything. And I think he's right:
[...] That's why Cantor is saying, "We're gonna have to do a better job of
explaining who we are. We need to do a better job of explaining why
we're doing what we're doing." Well, I think that epitomizes how lost
they all feel -- and right now, folks, there is no fight. There's no
desire for it. There's no fight mentality. There is no desire for any
opposition of any kind at this point in time. That's what all of this
means. It's a direct outcome of the 2012 election. It is Santa Claus
trumping freedom. Santa Claus trumps everything. Santa Claus beats
fiscal responsibility. Santa Claus beats individual liberty. Santa Claus
beats individual responsibility. Santa Claus trumps all of this. It's
no more complicated than that, but that's exactly what all of this
means.
Santa Claus trumps everything. Santa Claus trumps working.
Everybody loves Santa Claus. That bugs 'em. They think there's nothing
in it. There's no upside to opposing anything that's happening in the
country right now. And it's gonna get even worse as issues come up and
more Republicans throw in the towel. That is going to happen. And I
have no idea what's gonna arrest it. At some point it'll stop. At some
point it's gonna reverse itself. I don't know what it's gonna be,
when, I haven't the slightest idea. But Kasich's up for reelection. He
lost the state of Ohio, it went Obama, it went Democrat. He's reading
tea leaves. Other governors are doing the same thing.
There's some holdouts. I mean, not every Republican is throwing in
the towel. But for the most part, the overarching philosophy or theory
is there's nothing to be gained in opposing Obama. The media's gonna
come out and destroy you. The American people love Santa Claus and don't
want to hear any opposition. That's just gonna be categorized as
mean-spiritedness, extremism, racism, what have you. So you're gonna
have to bite the bullet for a while, let this play out, because there's
nothing that's gonna stop this, nothing foreseen that's going to stop
it. Something will, but I don't know what or when, but something will
arrest this. Because it always happens.
For elected representatives of the people of the United States to pass this legislation is beyond belief. We never asked to be governed by a vast bureaucracy which makes up rules we never approved. It represents the crippling and suicide of a once great nation. The Family Research council writes of the chaos as follows:
If
anyone should be outraged by ObamaCare, it's the environmentalists! So
far, the President's law has wasted enough paper to topple entire
forests--and the implementation process has barely begun. If the bill's
2,700 pages were too much for Congress to read, who's going to bother wading through the 13,000 pages
of regulations from last December alone? According to most experts,
those 26 reams of rules don't even touch on the "nuts and bolts" of a
system that Secretary Kathleen Sebelius wants up and running by next
year.
All of the regulations that President Obama had bottled up before the
election are now gushing from Health and Human Services faster than the
states, businesses, and health care industry can process them. For now,
it's all a chaotic maze of bureaucracy and secrecy that has people
questioning the system's chance of success. "No one knows where the
current magical mystery tour is headed," the Wall Street Journal warns,
"especially not HHS." Most states gave up on waiting and just opted out
of the legislative tangle altogether. Others, like the health care
community, are desperately trying to get answers from HHS--to no avail.
"There is an urgent need for more regulatory clarity..." pleaded Dan
Durham of America's Health Insurance Plans at a special House hearing.
Of course, it's no wonder everyone is confused. One simple
rule--defining a "full-time employee"--took HHS 18 pages to explain.
Multiply that by 13,000 sheets of regulations (and climbing), and it's
absolute bedlam. One unintended consequence of all the confusion is
Congress's inability to hold the Obama administration accountable. With
the explosion of new rules and regulations,
conservatives are having a difficult time keeping up. Their staffs and
attorneys are doing their best to go over each guideline with a
fine-toothed comb, but even the problems they've identified are being
ignored.
As far back as last August, the House oversight committee raised some
red flags over a batch of IRS rules that no one had approved. In one
instance, Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) points out that the IRS
extended the tax credits for the ObamaCare exchanges beyond what the law
called for--an overreach that could cost taxpayers a half-trillion dollars
over the next 10 years. Together with the Ways and Means Committee,
Rep. Issa sent four separate letters to the IRS and Treasury Department,
demanding an explanation. They've received none. "At the Committee's
hearing on August 2, 2012," the members write,
"you testified that your 'main job was to implement the law that was
written.'" According to the Congressional Research Service, there's
ample evidence that the IRS implemented more than that. The
administration has a pattern of ignoring Congress, but it will have a
difficult time ignoring taxpayers if they're forced to pay even higher
taxes to accommodate this additional $500 billion power grab.
Meanwhile, Senators like Lamar Alexander
(R-Tenn.) haven't given up hope of abolishing the President's
monstrosity altogether. "The case for repealing this law has only grown
stronger as American businesses and families have begun to feel the pain
of its impact--a half-trillion dollars of new taxes, premiums going up,
employers cutting hours and jobs just to stay in business..." He was
one of the 23 cosponsors on Sen. Ted Cruz's new legislation to pull the
plug on ObamaCare. "I promised the voters of Texas that the first bill I
would file as a U.S. Senator would be to repeal every last word of
ObamaCare," said Sen. Cruz yesterday, "and that's a promise I'm proud to keep." Now the challenge is to make the repeal a reality.
I've highlighted certain sentences of the FRC evaluation and especially appreciate the last paragraph:
Of the two enduring themes of Barack Obama's first inauguration, one
remains: change. The "hope" that propelled more than a million and a
half people to Washington four years ago, has dimmed--replaced, as we
watched yesterday, by the promise of more strident and aggressive
liberalism. When the President put his hand on Abraham Lincoln's Bible
and swore to uphold the office, he did so as the leader of a deeply
divided nation. And although his inaugural speech contained several
noble themes--unity was not one of them.
As he launched into his vision for a second term, his premise was not "We, the People," but "We, Some
of the People." Gone was the inspirational rhetoric of four years
ago--and in its place was a profoundly political and partisan warning.
"We have always understood that when times change, so must we; that
fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new
challenges; that preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires
collective action."
With every reinvention of the Founder's ideals, President Obama made
it clear that he is committed to continuing his push for big,
centralized, and expensive government. And paramount to that push is a
highly controversial vision that includes everything from unlimited
entitlements and gun bans to illegal immigration to special rights based
on sexual behavior. "Our journey is not complete," the President said,
"until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under
the law--for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we
commit to one another must be equal as well." In these instances, a
speech that could have built bridges only widened the gaps.
On the non-negotiating policy of President Obama, George Gilder writes:
People actually imagine they can negotiate with him. Having high hopes
for the second Obama administration is like having great expectations
for a second date with Ted Bundy. I mean, it’s just not going to work
out.”
the most notable thing about ... [Obama's 2nd inaugural] speech is not what it contains
but what it lacks. The overwhelming impression one gets is that in
Obama’s America, there is no civil society — no arena of private action,
of voluntary responsibility, of free associations of citizens for
solving the community’s problems. There are only the government (by
default, the federal government, at that) and the individual. This is
the “Life of Julia” campaign philosophy rendered in inaugural rhetoric:
Without government’s aid in every aspect of our lives, we are lost, we
are helpless, we are nothing. Every “we,” every “our,” every reference
to “the nation” in this speech was a reference to a government solution
to a “problem.” In this vision of America, no families, churches,
charities, voluntary groups, or other institutions of civil society make
any appearance at all. And when there are only the government and the
individual, we know which one will be in charge.
Writing in a similar vein, Samuel Gregg shows how Obama's emphasis on the federal government doing everything contrasts with America as it was known to foreign visitors in its history. Gregg writes:
Presidential
inaugural addresses are usually inspiring affairs, but the devil is
invariably in the details. In that regard, President Obama’s second
inaugural address proved to be no exception.
Of course there were all sorts of highly questionable assertions made
in this address. “A decade of war is now ending.” Really? Someone
obviously forgot to inform al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, not to
mention the Americans and other innocents recently slaughtered by
terrorists linked to that group in Algeria.
“An economic recovery has begun.” So why is the unemployment rate
exactly the same as it was at the same point in history four years ago?
And how about that $16 trillion debt, $5 trillion of which has been racked up over the past, ahem, four years?
But leaving that and other inconvenient details aside, there’s one
thing that’s very, very apparent from this inaugural address. And it’s
our president’s worldview that the government is the primary
way in which we address our common problems and realize our
responsibilities and obligations to each other as citizens and as human
beings. That many such responsibilities and obligations might be
realized outside the realm of politics is not, apparently, something
that has occurred to the president.
In that regard, I’ve often wondered what President Obama would think
if he took the time to put aside the bible of modern liberalism, John
Rawls’s Theory of Justice, for a moment and picked up a far more interesting (not to mention readable) text, Alexis de Tocqueville’s Democracy in America.
One suspects the president would be astonished to learn how the
Americans observed by the young French aristocrat dealt with all sorts
of problems that were beyond the capacity of individuals to address and
which were not resolved by the beneficial effects of commerce and
business.
Tocqueville noted that 19th-century
Americans dealt with such matters through the habit of free association —
especially through the medium of churches and other religious
associations — rather than initially looking to the government. For
Tocqueville, the contrast with France, where a highly centralized state
was seen as the first port of call for help, was astounding:
Americans of all ages, all conditions, and all dispositions
constantly form associations. They have not only commercial and
manufacturing companies, in which all take part, but associations of a
thousand other kinds, religious, moral, serious, futile, general or
restricted, enormous or diminutive. The Americans make associations to
give entertainments, to found seminaries, to build inns, to construct
churches, to diffuse books, to send missionaries to the antipodes; in
this manner they found hospitals, prisons, and schools. If it is
proposed to inculcate some truth or to foster some feeling by the
encouragement of a great example, they form a society. Wherever at the
head of some new undertaking you see the government in France . . . in
the United States you will be sure to find an association.
The same phenomenon was noted 120 years later by yet another famous
French Catholic living and working in America. The United States
observed by Jacques Maritain in the 1940s and 50s was a very different
society to that analyzed by Tocqueville, not least because of the
economic and social effects of the New Deal. Yet despite these
developments, Maritain (who knew Tocqueville’s writings very well)
observed that something had not changed:
One of the most striking characteristics of the picture is the
infinite swarming, on the American scene, of private groups, study
clubs, associations, committees, which are designed “to look out for one
aspect or another of the common good” . . . The effect is a spontaneous
and steady collective regulation and prodding of the tremendous effort
of the whole country, which is of invaluable importance.
This seemingly endlessly varied web of associational activity was
matched by a financial generosity that plainly astounded Maritain:
Americans like to give. Of course, there is the exemption from taxes
for gifts directed to the common welfare; but this very law about taxes
would not have been possible if the astute legislator did not know that
as a rule the American people are aware of the fact that it is better
to give than to receive. Not only the great foundations, but the
ordinary course of activity of American institutions and the innumerable
American private groups show us that the ancient Greek and Roman idea
of the civis praeclarus, the dedicated citizen who spends his money in
the service of the common good, plays an essential part in American
consciousness. . . . There is no materialism, I think, in the
astonishing, countless initiatives of fraternal help which are the daily
bread of the American people, or in the profound feeling of obligation
toward others which exists in them, especially toward any people abroad
who are in distress.
Naturally, as no less than Adam Smith pointed out, there are some
things that only governments can do — national defense and public works
being some of the more prominent examples used by the Scottish sage. But
it’s our president’s constant equivalence of the common good with state initiatives, government schemes, and political programs
that is perhaps one of the most troubling things about his inaugural
address. Alas, I fear that that tendency on the part of the current
occupant of the White House isn’t going to change any time soon.
It
was an inaugural address that, on the surface, is eloquent and seems
unobjectionable. One Reagan scholar e-mailed me and said it sounded like
a speech that Ronald Reagan could have given. Perhaps so. But the
problem is the deeper meaning and intentions behind Barack Obama’s
carefully chosen words.
For instance, take this line: “Through it all, we have never
relinquished our skepticism of central authority, nor have we succumbed
to the fiction that all society’s ills can be cured through government
alone.”
Well, that’s closer to what Ronald Reagan stated in his 1981
inaugural, “government is not the solution . . . government is the
problem,” but it’s a far cry from this statement from Obama in February
2009, after his first inauguration: “The federal government is the only
entity left with the resources to jolt our economy back into life. It is
only government that can break the vicious cycle where lost jobs lead
to people spending less money which leads to even more layoffs.”
What Obama said in 2009 is, in truth, what he has pursued for four
years. What he said today is mere public relations and window dressing.
But that isn’t the worst part of the speech. Amid all the unnerving
references to life, dignity, and God, not to mention the appalling line
about a “nation of takers”—which, in truth, is precisely what Obama and
Democrats are generating—the most telling theme of the speech that most
alarmed me was the underlying progressive manifesto that Obama subtly
laid out. Take these two lines:
“But we have always understood that when times change, so must we;
that fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new
challenges; that preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires
collective action.”
“Being true to our founding documents does not require us to agree on
every contour of life; it does not mean we will all define liberty in
exactly the same way, or follow the same precise path to happiness.
Progress does not compel us to settle centuries-long debates about the
role of government for all time — but it does require us to act in our
time.”
In the hands of a conservative like Ronald Reagan, this would be just
fine, a return to our Founding principles. Yet, in the hands of a
radical-left “progressive” like Barack Obama, these are not the soothing
words they appear to be on the surface. They are a blueprint for what
Obama has more precisely called a “fundamental transformation” of
America. These are not benign words. The words must be paired to
actions. They are a call to action, to redefine everything from our
understanding of religious liberty and the family to the very notion of
what is America. Underlying this sweet speech is a sweeping agenda, and
Barack Obama knows it, even as his cheering, fawning masses do not.
And Hobby Lobby is absolutely right! The Obama administration refuses to see the point, in effect delimiting "freedom of religion" to mean only "freedom of worship." There's a huge difference between "freedom of religion and "freedom of worship." Businesses that want to run on biblical principles, reflecting a Christian ethos, should not be forced to give out "morning after" pills if it goes against their conscience. Kathryn Lopez writes:
“It’s more than just work,” Mart Green, treasurer of Hobby Lobby and CEO
of Mardel, a Christian bookstore chain, says in a video explaining why
his family simply cannot and will not comply with the Department of
Health and Human Services mandate insisting they provide abortion drugs
to their employees. As of yesterday, Hobby Lobby, the arts and crafts
chain, is in violation of federal law. Barack Obama’s Department of
Justice has been arguing that religious liberty doesn’t have the role in
the life of a business. But the Green family knows that their business
lives cannot be cut off from their lives as Christians. And so the
business makes decisions seeking to strengthen family, seeking to lives
integrated lives, as Mart Green explains:
The Green family provides a real lesson to a culture that has become all
too content compartmentalizing religion. And now by government mandate
…
The Family Research Council has commented on the Holly Lobby dispute with the coercive Obama administration. Pull quote:
The HHS Mandate is a gross violation of the religious beliefs of the
Green family. The issue before the courts here is whether the Greens
religious-liberty rights include running their secular, for-profit
business consistent with their religious beliefs. In other words, is
religious liberty just what you do in church on a Sunday morning, or
does it include what you do during the week at your job? [more....]
You'd never know the U.S. was a debt-ridden country by the lavish, prodigal way the Obama family spends taxpayer's money. The Presidential family is traveling to Hawaii for Christmas vacation. Consider the cost (Mark Steyn's research):
The cost to taxpayers of flying one man, his wife, two daughters, and a
dog to Hawaii is estimated at $3,639,622. For purposes of comparison,
the total bill for flying the entire royal family (Queen, princes,
dukes, the works) around the world for a year is £4.7 million — or about
enough for two Obama vacations.
Ah yes. But Obama is Obama, the most important man in the world as he no doubt self-meditates, and thus finds it easy to dismiss any slight qualm of conscience that could conceivably disturb his repose. "I'm worth every penny," he no doubt assures himself. Still, it's worth taking a look at comparative airplane costs.
According to the USAF, in 2010 Air Force One cost American taxpayers
$181,757 per flight hour. According to the Royal Canadian Air Force, in
2011 the CC-150 Polaris military transport that flew William and Kate
from Vancouver to Los Angeles cost Her Majesty’s Canadian subjects
$15,505 per hour — or about 8/100ths of the cost.
British and Canadian citizens scrutinize money spent on the royals, not so Americans the money spent on (and by) Obama:
Obama flew Air Force One from Washington to Williamsburg, Va., requiring
a wide-bodied transatlantic jet that holds 500 people to ferry him a
distance of a little over 100 miles. And, unlike their British and
Canadian counterparts, the American media are entirely at ease with it.
Maybe we should stop being "at ease with it." Is it too much to expect a modicum of frugality from the President? He makes present-day monarchs look like pikers. Consider:
In his recent book "Presidential Perks Gone Royal", Robert
Keith Gray, a former Eisenhower staffer, revealed that last year the
U.S. presidency cost American taxpayers $1.4 billion. Over the same
period, the entire royal family cost British taxpayers about $57
million. There’s nothing “royal” about the current level of
“presidential perks”: The Obama family costs taxpayers more than every
European royal house put together. [more . . .]
Ichabod. It's unseemly for the man who preaches "fair share" and "equality" to everyone else, to flaunt his own lavish, personal extravagance. The man who fails to recognize the "exceptional" quality of America as a nation, readily embraces the "exceptional" quality of himself and his family.
This letter explains how Obama's dictatorial enforcement of abortion practices on private businesses is so unjust and unconstitituional:
Via Red Tracy:
By David Green, the founder and CEO of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.
When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were
working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature
picture frames. Our first retail store wasn’t much bigger than most
people’s living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we
lived and worked according to God’s word. From there, Hobby Lobby has
become one of the nation’s largest arts and crafts retailers, with more
than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine
business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.
We’re Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles.
I’ve always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to
run our business in harmony with God’s laws, and (2) to focus on people
more than money. And that’s what we’ve tried to do. We close early so
our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores
closed on Sundays, one of the week’s biggest shopping days, so that our
workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest. We believe that it
is by God’s grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us
and our employees. We’ve not only added jobs in a weak economy, we’ve
raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees
start at 80% above minimum wage.
But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new
government health care mandate says that our family business MUST
provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health
insurance. Being Christians, we don’t pay for drugs that might cause
abortions, which means that we don’t cover emergency contraception, the
morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might
end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary
to our most important beliefs. It goes against the Biblical principles
on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to
comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.
Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy. Our
government threatens to fine a company that’s raised wages four years
running. Our government threatens to fine a family for running it’s
business according to it’s beliefs. It’s not right. I know people will
say we ought to follow the rules; that it’s the same for everybody. But
that’s not true. The government has exempted thousands of companies
from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won’t
exempt them for reasons of religious belief.
So, Hobby Lobby and my family are forced to make a choice. With
great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket
Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate
before it hurts our business. We don’t like to go running into court,
but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important
than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than
turning a profit.
My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing
our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but
the government is going to make that much more difficult. The
government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and
following the law. I say that’s a choice no American and no American
business should have to make. The government cannot force you to
follow laws that go against your fundamental religious belief. They
have exempted thousands of companies but will not except Christian
organizations including the Catholic church.
Since you will not see this covered in any of the liberal media, pass this on to all your contacts.
Sincerely,
David Green, CEO and Founder of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.
Questionable indeed. The following video gives an overview of Obama's treatment of Israel. Many Jews are rethinking their traditional Democratic voting habits. Barry Rubin: "No Jewish American should vote for Obama on the belief that he is a great friend of Israel." (More on the changing Jewish vote beneath the video).
"Two
Jews, three opinions" goes the famous joke. And every day, more of
those opinions turn pro-Romney, as American Jews increasingly reject the
collapsing presidency of Barack Hussein Obama.
Romney's surging poll numbers in the crucial state of Florida reflect his growing success with Bubbie Molly and her unemployed grandson Adam, who both thought their right hand would wither if it ever pulled the lever for a Republican.
The signs and portents are everywhere, beginning with the special election of a Republican
in Anthony Weiner's heavily Jewish, New York congressional district one
year ago. Now a startling new poll even has Romney performing the
ultimate miracle: the parting of the blue states, winning the Jewish vote by a healthy 44% to 40%!
Florida activist Alan Bergstein described
his recent experience advocating for Romney in the Jewish stronghold of
Delray Beach. "Of about 100 entering and leaving the Bagel Tree eatery
in that plaza, we ran into only two Democrats and loads and loads of
Romney supporters. They stopped to talk to us, to congratulate us and to
support us with their views of the Ryan/Biden debate. They were
militant and fearless."
What's
driving the Jewish exodus from the Democratic Party? Like everyone
else, Jews are singing the bad economy blues. But they're also
increasingly acknowledging the uncomfortable facts about Obama's
hostility towards Israel and its Jewish supporters.
"Absolutely Uncertain," a 20-minute YouTube video
starring 23-year-old Irina, a disillusioned Obama voter who analyzes
the president's harsh treatment of Israel, racked up an astonishing
650,000 views in just three days. The Republican Jewish Coalition's
video, "Perilous Times,"
is closing in on a million views, as anxious Jewish voters seek
information outside the mainstream media to understand the accelerating
nuclear threat to Israel from Iran.
Tonight Gov. Romney and President Obama meet to debate Foreign Policy. The Family Research Council notes that:
In three and a half hours of debating, the candidates have exchanged
30,586 words--but not one
of them was spent discussing marriage. Heading
into this evening's contest, Barack Obama has yet to answer for one of
the most defining moments of his presidency: his "evolution" on same-sex
"marriage" and the abandonment of thousands of years of human tradition
and logic. While tonight's debate in Boca Raton is focused on foreign
policy, this final face-off will be the last opportunity Americans have
to hear for themselves the stark difference between the two men on
defining fundamental issues. The moderators of the previous two debates
have largely avoided the subject of values, save a passing glance or two
on contraception. The void is especially glaring given that a radical
social agenda has been the hallmark of this President's entire first
term. [emphasis mine] In fact, absent other tangible accomplishments to campaign on, the
White House has resorted to highlighting its pro-abortion, Planned
Parenthood policies in ads. President Obama isn't running away from his
extreme social policy--he's running on it! And for once, it's time for Americans to hear why.
How can Bob Schieffer squeeze in social issues? The same way
President Obama did in his dealings with other nations and our military:
by force
In many ways, the administration's international agenda is the perfect
segway to a discussion on life, marriage, and religious liberty. For
four years, President Obama has used his State Department and its
diplomats as his agents of social change. He has not only pushed
homosexuality on the military, but he's advanced his agenda on unwilling
countries through his selection of controversial ambassadors and his celebration of "gay pride" around the globe. At home, he hid subtle changes to marriage in gay immigration policy, U.S. passports, or taxpayer-funded hormone therapy for cross-dressers.
To export abortion, he funneled millions of dollars to his friends at
overseas Planned Parenthoods, UNFPA, and other organizations that
support gendercide, China's one-child policy, and forced sterilization.
In countries like Kenya, which has a strong pro-life majority, the White
House bullied its way through obstacles, hiring lobbyists to expand
abortion in its constitution--illegally. And when it came time to reauthorize the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, the President dragged his feet.
Yes, there are plenty of ways to introduce values into a debate on
foreign policy. If Mr. Schieffer needs some conversation starters, he
could start with FRC's new one-pagers on President Obama's record. Our
experts combed through the last four years of the President's record and
found plenty of disturbing trends. Of the 66 decisions he made that
violate pro-family values, 60 of them were done without congressional
approval. Check them out here.
Jeffrey H. Anderson at the Weekly Standard reports: (HT: Drudge)
In the wake of the Treasury Department’s newly released summary
of federal spending for 2012, it’s now possible to detail just how
profligate the Obama years have been. Here’s the upshot: Under Obama,
for every $7 we’ve had, we’ve spent nearly $11 (or, to be more exact,
$10.95). That’s like a family that makes $70,000 a year — and is
already knee-deep in debt — blowing nearly $110,000 a year. [more . . .]
Physician, surgeon, and former U.S. Senate Majority Leader, Dr. Frist writes: [my emphases]
Want real health reform that is in the interest of you and your
family? Don't make the same mistake that Washington did. In formulating
ObamaCare, the politicians listened to lobbyists, policy wonks,
academics, health theorists, regulators, and occasionally to each other.
But they failed to listen to the people who actually care for patients:
Doctors. Granted, the lobbyists for physician groups were at the table,
but not the doctor him or herself. Ironic, isn't it? Especially when
it's the doctor who has the daily responsibility of directly caring for
the patient.
Go ahead, ask your physician at your next visit what she or he thinks of
current Washington-directed reform and its impact on the doctor-patient
relationship. What you hear will likely surprise you, because it will
likely be markedly different from what you hear from Washington. The
policy theorists are simply too far removed from the reality of
front-line patient care. Health reform, whether via the implementation
of ObamaCare or the GOP's "repeal and replace" plan, should no longer
ignore the input and counsel of experienced, front-line, practicing
doctors.
Here is a sampling of what my own internist, who has taken care of thousands of patients over the past 20 years, shared with me:
Some 80% of companies receiving Department of Energy backing,
according to the Hoover Institution's Peter Schweizer, are "run by or
primarily owned by Obama financial backers." One, Mr. Al Gore, is worth
an estimated $100 million, thanks to $2.5 billion in federal loans,
grants and tax breaks, according to Friday's Washington Post
What about the "green" jobs that were supposed to sprout? By Mr.
Obama's own arithmetic, the $21 billion spent so far should have
delivered 700,000 jobs. Actual count: 28,854, according to Friday's
Bloomberg Businessweek. [my emphases]

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) on Friday accused President Barack Obama
of ushering in a second Ottoman Empire in the Middle East through his
foreign policy.
Speaking on the House floor, Gohmert accused the Obama administration
of allowing Iran to influence Iraq by pulling U.S. troops out, and
suggested the attacks on U.S. diplomatic missions in the Middle East and
North Africa are the result of waning American influence from that
decision, The Hill reported.
“Thank you President Barack Hussein Obama. This will be quite a
legacy for you,” Gohmert said. “I‘m not one of those who says he’s not a
Christian. All I know is that’s between him and God. But what I do know
is he has helped jump start a new Ottoman Empire and left our friend
and ally Israel so vulnerable in this sea of radicalism that he has
helped bring to the surface.”
Gohmert said a recent report showed that approval for the U.S. among
those in Muslim countries had slipped from 33 percent under President
George W. Bush in 2008 to now just 15 percent under Obama, according to
The Hill. A Pew Research Center survey
released in June noted that the median approval in Muslim nations for
Obama’s policies has declined over the last three years from 34 percent
to 15 percent.
“This president is trying to buy affection from people who are
bullies, who are radical Islamists, who want to destroy us. You’re not
going to get love and affection, you get contempt,” Gohmert said.

It doesn’t matter who is in office of the POTUS, it would have
happened anyway given the “time” we live in. Obama just hurried the plan
along. Oh, and “the plan” I speak of was prophesied in the Books of
Daniel and John.
Is it me ? I see Obama showing the American ppl he don’t care ! He
will win by fraud & if he loses he has destroyed the USA econmicaly (
light the fuse ) so he don’t care.
Yes I,m afraid your right on the Daniel and John….not afraid
myself, but it is so obvious what is coming down the pike now more than
ever,,,,and yes obama has done his role in helping bring on the
prophecy…..most will not want to recognize this reality until its
wayyyyyyy to late,,,,,maybe when Israel is on fire, and the mideast
enemys lay in waist from Israels last stand and its nukes, will people
realize hey maybe the Bible was right…….read or listen to Revalations
folks open your eyes and ears..armageddon is closer then we think…..
Just so you all know, the republicans voted overwhelmingly against
Rand Paul’s proposal to restrict giving American dollars to countries
like Egypt, Libya, and Syria. That is your republican party at work
I agree PAX. Obama, the mystery man, should have never been allowed
into the Oval Office but he was. There is a great blindness in America.
The year 1948 was the pivotal point.
You are correct, it’s all part of the master plan to bring the US
down “equal” to the rest of the world. As he weakens the US he stands by
or even encourages the coming caliphate into this new 21st century
group of superpower nations. You cannot have an islamic caliphate with
the kind of power and influence they are seeking with a superpower based
on freedom standing in the way like the US.
You see kids that’s why the Emperor is disarming us, taking our
nuclear arsenal down to 1500 (with hopes to get even lower to 3-500)
while our enemies are building weapons, and bankrupting this nation. We
are too well armed and too rich compared to other nations! Once we are
broke and defenseless this Ottoman Empire will roll in because there
will be no one left to stand in the way!
And then there is the matter of Armageddon in the book, Revelation
of John. I was near that battle-zone in 1986 and it is a tankers
nightmare with 200 foot high hills on either side of a river valley that
goes from the Sea of Galilee to the Mediterranean Sea. If Hezbollah
comes down from the north with Syrian tanks they will hit a choke point
and be decimated. But then when God enters the fight it will not matter
what your fighting in he can destroy what ever he wants since the
Weapons of God are not of this world.
What did we expect electing a Muslim named Barack Hussein Obama?
If his name isn’t a dead giveaway, I don’t know what is. His name
sounds like he is the the leader of Kenya or Somalia. America be
careful what you wish for, you just might get it. And in this case we
wished for a politically correct Muslim sympathizer and that’s exactly
what we got. If the US reelects him for a 2nd term, then this country
will get whatever it deserves.
Maybe Hussein Obama is the antichrist after all. He came in as a
world savior during the election and what he’s led up to is a total all
out war in the Middle East between Israel and Iran and whomever else.
It might drag the whole world into their conflict.
You are correct. With all due respect the Congressman is incorrect
though. I doubt seriously that a caliphate will actually take place.
During the Psalm 83 war, Israel will destroy all its enemies in close
proximity. Which are the current countries of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon,
Egypt and fantastically the West Bank is specifically mentioned. I say
that for those unfamiliar with the Bible. If you are a Christian,
Biblical prophecy is not fantastic. It just is. WWIII is described in
Ezekiel chapters 30 and 38. Most theologians who have researched
eschatology are confident that both wars are prior to the rapture and
the tribulation described in the Book of Revelation. Islam will not look
like it does today in the future. I don’t know exactly into what it
will mutate. Many believe it will fuse with apostates of Christianity
and Judaism. Some believe it will fuse with Roman Catholicism after the
current Pope is gone. It may revert to its actual pagan origins.
Many are indecisive as to the exact countries involved in WWIII since
present day country borders are a manufacture of man and not the areas
God established or recognized. Some countries most everyone agrees on
are Russia, Germany, Turkey, Ethiopia, Sudan, Iran. Some that may or may
not be involved are China, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and many
countries in Indo-China.
One thing is for sure. Neither, Mr. Obama or Mr. Morsi, or any other human for that matter, is in charge of any of this.
When we read Obama’s executive order 13603 (section 801 PVIII) in
conjuction with HLS purchasing billions of rounds of ammo &
distributing them to governmental departments (fish and game, forestry
dept, etc), you know that something isn’t right with Obama and this
administration. Here, we have a president who has appointed Islamic
Brotherhood to his administration & saying that the 9/11 attack was
over a Youtube video? (that was released in June) Now we‘re hearing it
could’ve be an “inside job” of the security team from Wales? While all
of this is going on, Obama is sleeping soundly in Las Vegas & states
that there wasn’t any indication that something like this was going to
happen? Obama couldn’t tell the truth if his life depended on it.
Gohmert is right…and it‘s about time some more representatives start
talking openly about Obama’s ideologies, which are NOT in the best
interest for our nation.
Yes, he is one of the VERY few who are saying it…we must face cold
facts re WHY Congress not acting to rein in this evil ROGUE regime…b/c
most “R”s are corrupt too & are either being threatened or
complicit. Check out a DHS Insider’s comments:
“And forget about the R‘s vs D’s b/c nearly all of them are all
playing for the same team. .. They’ve allowed Communists to enter every
gpvmt institution inside the beltway, and just about everyone let it
happen, helped it happen or watched it happen.”
“The Obama doctrine,.. is one of orchestrated deconstruction of
countries getting in the way of the reconstruction of the Islamic
Caliphate. Once established, the Islamic Caliphate will usher in a
repressive global religion complimentary to the larger globalist agenda.
Accordingly, Syria cannot be allowed to exist in its current form, nor
can Israel, but for different reasons…
The Obama doctrine of foreign policy is the globalist doctrine, except
.. employs the effective use of the MB to advance the globalist agenda.
Another big problem is I don’t know if Romney & crew even realize
these things. For too many, this stuff is just too unbelievable plus
don’t have the necesssary“hard” evidence to accuse, convict. All bases
covered…..that’s why they went “rogue”. Who knows – maybe they’ve been
threatened too.
With the last OPEC meeting.I would say Rep. Louie Gohmert is quite
correct.with Iran and Venezuela calling for a new currency backed system
for the sale of oil and a new bank OPEC bank of Arab States that in
fact could be construed as the new Ottoman empire.
If Americans re-elect Obama, he’ll finish the United States off –
constitutionally, economically and culturally. This will please the
radical anti-white racist diversity mobs until they realize there is no
more free stuff, paid for by other people’s money, to be swipped by the
Federal government. If Americans re-elect this man, they deserve the
oppression and poverty that he and his radical pals will acheive.
American Idol nation is going to meet it’s maker.
so….don’t let the little kenyan bast^rd ruin us….we know we mush
lead the charge against this communist if he gets elected again. Let the
American-wars begin.
Obama’s foreign policies might work if the rest of the world shared
our values. They don’t. And he his narcissism blinds him to that. It
will take a generation or longer to recover from the damage he’s done.
For Obama to get to heaven,
He must see the whites in this country suffer what the Blacks did,
for at least as long or nobody gets to paradise.
THAT’S Black LIBERATION Theology.
This isn’t just obamas fault. This is also everyone in congress and
those who took an oath to deffend this country’s fault. Not one person
has challenged him. He should have been arrested 3 years ago allready.
All you congressman do is run your mouth’s. Where‘s the damn military
leader’s at? Are they in on this to? Has everyone we put in power become
our own enemy’s? STFU and do something!
Love the use of the middle name! I admire the back bone that many
of the TX representatives use openly. Too bad more of our state leaders
don’t speak out and condemn BHO like Rep. Louie Gohmert.
The only thing Jimmy Carter has up on Barry is that he can prove
his citizenship and his whole life has been an open book unlike Barry’s.
Anyone care to dispute that?
BUDDYBAG IS EVIL . . . Better idea. Have the governments step aside
and let the people fight it out. All the Christians who want to kill
Muslims – and all the Muslims who want to kill Christians – you all go
to a remote location, say the Gobi desert, and you go at each other
until somebody is annihilated. You have your messiah . They have theirs.
You have your gubs They have theirs. Problem solved.
I‘m sure you’ll all be the first ones on the plane – all camo’d up. Let us know how it turns out.

BUDDYBAG IS EVIL
All the Christians who want to kill Muslims – and all the Muslims who want to kill Christians
________________________________________________
DEMOCRATS.ARE.EVIL is the username I was addressing, not a statement.
You expose your ignorance here. Christians do not want to kill Muslims. I certainly dont
Its the other way around. Every Christian I know just wants to go about their business
peacefully without interference. Muslims are ultimately unable to tolerate the existence
of any other belief system.
Peace accords, peace treaties, peace agreements, etc – they’re all a FARCE because
these people dont want peace. American leadership has always made the mistake of
attempting to apply a western mindset to the Arab world, and the fact is, they dont think
like us. They’re a warring people. It does not matter what you give them, it will never be
enough. Their worldview includes destruction of Israel/western society and world dominance.
And even if you gave them that, they’d find something else to fight about.
So, yes, there are those of us who care enough about our country and our lives that
we’re willing to pick up a firearm if necessary to defend your freedom to sit in your
jammies at home on sunday and heckle whomever you like.
I researched the crusades and discovered things I didn’t realize. I
always thought/was taught that the crusades were fought to force
Christianity onto people…no, far from it. The Muslims attacked Israel,
you know the place that Christians have pilgramed to for centuries
because CHRIST was born and killed in that region. the Muslims killed
3,000 christians. We went to avenge them.
let them come here they have to come a shore on the east or west
coast they would be doing us a great favor by weeding out all the
liberals . all we have to do is stay to the west of them, play the call
to prayer and you have a target
barry can recite the adan (muslim call to prayer) in perfect arabic (it’s their admission of faith prayer).
what do Larry Klayman, Pamela Geller and Orly Taitz have in common?
1. They’re Jewish
2. They have questions about barry’s natural born citizenship (and thus his eligibility to be potus)
I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.
Heres my 2 cents, when a man changes his name from more of a
western style name to a muslim name sits in a black radical preachers
church and claims to not hear anything, throws his white grandmother
under the bus is mentored by two American Radicals (Frank Marshall Davis
an Bill Ayers) launches his political career in the most corrupt city
(Chicago). Panders to the select few in this country (Gays, Unions) Uses
the black and hipanic race for political purposes. SPEAKS VOLUME about
ones Demeanor/Charector. In a NUT Shell A pure
Communist/Marist/Socialist<—–Pick your poisen. Bad for America and a
disaster for the world.
Nope, I sure don’t. But, since they were there already with a goal in
mind, perhaps we should have stayed until it was done. I think that is
what Gohmert was saying. Also, that with the exploding growth of a new
Ottoman Empire we might have been able to keep Iraq from being
influenced more by Iran.
I pretty sure that was his point. Saving any Country from being a
part of a new Ottoman Empire especially after spending so much money and
losing so much blood on said Country.
What do you think? (Besides that we should have never been in Iraq in the first place)
The-Monk
Exactly what is the goal in Afghanistan and what was the goal in Iraq?
It seems to me that we achieved the goal within the first couple months
in both countries.
What i thought was based on what i was told by the repubilcans –
which was that Iraq was a direct threat to our existence and had to be
removed in order to establish a middle east democracy. That turned out
to be a lie and misguided policy. You are asking what i would do right
now? I would remove our troops from the line of fire and remove all
embassies from islamic countries. People talk about creating the
environment of freedom over there, but that is exactly what lead to the
muslim brotherhood has gaining control in egypt, libya, and iraq – and
at the same time, the republicans are blaming it all on Obama….Which
tells me that nothing has changed in America
If you knew the history of the relationship between Iraq and the
Brits (Westerners and main alleys of the US) you would know why Iraq was
considered a threat. Here’s a quickie lesson for you;
After WWI the Brits wanted to go into Turkey and didn’t have the man
power. Since they controlled Iraq (just like India) they asked Iraq to
help. Iraq said no; the Turks were their friends. In 1920 the King of
Iraq and the Brits reached a deal. Iraq would help the Brits conquer
Turkey and if successful, Iraq would win it’s freedom. Well, they won
and the Brits reneged on the deal. For 17 years they continued control
of Iraq. Then in 1937, with Hitler doing his thing, the Brits granted
Iraq it’s freedom. BUT, the Brits would keep the port city (Kuwait)
cutting Iraq off from the Persian Sea. They pleaded and the Brits agreed
to leave a space open on the East side of the Country and put the
King’s brother (or son, I forget) in charge of Kuwait. 50 years later,
after struggling to get Iraq going, they asked the US for permission the
take Kuwait back through Madeleine Albright. All are weapons storage
was full and military contractors were having massive layoffs. So the US
agreed and Iraq went in. Then we said, “what do you guys think you’re
doing” and rained down 40 days and nights of hell, emptying our
warehouses and keeping jobs. Iraq vowed revenge and started a WMD
program. Any scientist who failed was shot.
Any scientist who failed was shot. So, they told Hussein the nuke
program was working to keep from being shot by Hussein. One of the
scientists escaped and even did a 60 Minutes show on it. I even remember
the Sec of Labor at the time, Robert Reich, being grilled hard about
why we were in Iraq. Everyone was saying it was for oil and the
Government didn’t want that said. So, during this “grilling” Reich said,
“You want to know why we’re there? You really want to know why we’re
there? Jobs. That’s why US jobs.” I watched it and remember it well.
You see, the intel coming right from Hussein’s scientists was that
the nuke program was working. And if you figure in what the Brits (our
friends) did to them up until 1937, the struggles to make a Gov, them
being told it’s OK to take Kuwait back the all hell for 40 days and
night WITHOUT taking Hussein out. Well, that’s why we went back in the
second time. We and the Brits both, owe Iraq some rebuilding and safety
from Iran. Or don’t try teach real history at Dr. Paul camps? The US AG
back then was Ramsey Clark who happened to be a friend of mine. So I got
my history lessons about what we did from him and about the Brits did
from a friend of Gandhi and Nehru who witnessed it in person. Now think
about all this please.
Ramsey Clark was the first US person to enter Iraq after the 40 days
and nights of hell. It was just 1 week after the bombing and was did it
illegally. The US Gov denied anyone to visit but he went anyways. We
talked for hours about what he saw. THIS is what drove my friend Ramsey
crazy and literally hate the US Gov.
Concise Facts, Timeline and History about Kuwait
700′s – Kuwait became a part of the Abbasid empire
1500′s became part of the Ottoman Empire
In 1899 Kuwait became a British protectorate
Kuwait Independence in 1961
Allied with Iraq during the Iran-Iraq War
Occupied by Iraq in August 1990
The Iraqi forces were defeated and the emir of Kuwait was reinstated.
Do you remember the Iraq soldiers surrendering to reporters as they
were leaving Kuwait? Do you remember them setting fire to oil rigs? Ever
wonder why?
Iraq gave up and asked for permission the leave Kuwait. We said OK
and gave them 48 hours (the time might be off but that’s what I
remember) to leave. When crossing the desert, we were there with
bulldozers and Blackhawk helicopters. We dug trenches in the sand,
forced them into them (soldiers, wounded and medics) with the helio’s
than buried them alive. They set fires in retaliation for us not keeping
our word on free and safe passage back to Iraq. Those who found
reporters with cameras (on the roads) surrendered to them because we
were after them.
As for Afghanistan, I don’t know too much about that. But, India, Iraq and some other regions; Oh, yeah!
“Exactly what is the goal in Afghanistan and what was the goal in Iraq?”
The goal of going into Iraq the first time was J O B S. It’s that
simple. We had made so many weapons we didn’t have any place to store
the next-gen weapons. Massive layoffs in 3rd party contractors were
happening. Then, Iraq asked us if they could go into Kuwait and take it
back (It was part of Iraq in the past). We saw an opportunity to clear
up some space and hatched a plan. We told them yes and then acted like
it was an invasion (remember the Hussein trials? He keep saying Kuwait
was part of Iraq). Hence the 40 days and nights of 2,000 sorties a day.
Cleaned up the storage issue and the 3rd party contractors could go back
to work, more layoffs were prevented and people were rehired. And Bush 1
left Hussein in charge. And he vowed REVENGE against the USA!!! And he
went to work on a nuke program. He would ask his scientists how things
were going. When the lead scientist said, “not so well”, Hussein would
pull out his pistol, shoot him right there in front of the other
scientists and put the #2 guy in charge. After a few times of this
happening they started to lie to Hussein. “Oh, Mr. Hussein, the nuke
program is going splendidly!” This started the false intel of the
weapons program and the reason the Brits, Russians and US ALL were
fooled into believing it. Even the intel coming from Israel was wrong.
Bush 2 is in office now and Daddy (Bush 1) likes Jeb (Son 2) more
than George (Son 1). A bit of family feuding going on. At this time all
this intel is coming in about Iraq and it’s nuke program. Everyone, and I
mean everyone; Russia, Britain, Israel and the USA are getting the same
reports. Hussein is working on a nuke program and it’s “going along
splendidly”. Bush 2 wants to impress Daddy and decides to go in and get
Hussein. Something Daddy couldn’t even do. Besides, the USA and Britain
know what happened in Desert Storm and that Hussein is seeking revenge.
The IAEA can’t even get in to verify anything. The UN approves a US
invasion.
(Starting to sound a bit like Iran but without Bush 2?)
So we go in and find no nukes. But the scientists are alive because they
lied to save their lives. We figure it out and decide to finally do
something nice and help them out with security, power and water and with
a new Gov since Hussein is dead. You see; we know what we did in Desert
Storm and are trying to make amends with the people. Bush 2 is happy
because he finished the job his father started and now we try to be the
“good guys”. That’s why we were still in Iraq. Obama doesn’t know any of
this and is just trying to get votes. He really doesn’t care about Iraq
or if our troops are there. Remember, he did send more troops in too.
Hussein was part of the Ba’ath Party and ruled with an iron fist
because all the different sects were always fighting for power. With
Hussein gone the other sects came in, while we were trying to finally do
something good, they started causing trouble. We started fighting them
and chased them into Afghanistan. Al-Qaeda got involved with the Taliban
and we are still there for some stupid reason; trying to stabilize an
un-stabilizing situation. As I said before, I don’t know much of the
history of Afghanistan.
Ask Dr. Paul about all of this. He’s been a Washington politician for
some time and should be able to verify all of this for you. I hope this
answers your questions. As you can see, I didn’t white-wash any
Republican actions or motives. I didn’t bash the Democrats, Independents
or even Ron Paul. I hope you appreciate that and have your answers.
Please feel to ask anything else.
Also:
We do have a mad man in Iran that wants the return of the Mahdi (the
12th Imam) and the Caliphate. We also have Egypt with the Muslim
Brotherhood who want a Caliphate and Sharia Law. The World is real
screwed up and if Obama stays in power it will only get worse because he
hates America and likes Muslims more than us. He will bring the US to
its knees; and we might never be able to stand again.
Monk it is really hard to follow your connections. You say we went
into Iraq in 2003 to stop their nuclear program? How come we found
zero evidence of it (and Bush was looking for it, for political reasons)
and honest minds like Colin Powell saw that we were duped and quit in
disgust?
Nevertheless, if you say the goal of Iraq was to get rid of their
nuclear weapons program – then we no longer should be there. mission
complete, case closed. Afganistan tried to get nuclear weapons and Al
Qaeda has moved into other countries – why are we still in Afganistan –
what is the goal?
We cannot prevent the spread of an idea in the middle east – especially using our heavy footprint.
“This president is trying to buy affection from [people who are
bullies], who are radical Islamists, who want to destroy us. You’re not
going to get love and affection, you get contempt.”
Now you’ve gone and done it Gohmert… that’s statement that will
awaken the Ron Paul / Gary Johnson folks who will use that against you.
WE are the “bullies”, not the radical Islamists. WE brought all this
all ire upon ourselves… NOT the radical Islamists. They’ve just been
minding their own business until WE “bullied” them into radicalizing,
rioting, terrorizing and murdering.
I’m willing to wager 99.8% of the citizens of there United States
have no idea who – what – where – why – when the Ottoman was. It was a
great point, but for the libs, way way over their heads.
SOY. It’s important to continually point out both enemies at the
gates. You believe it to include all Republicans and Conservatives and
those of us who supported anyone other than Ron Paul, and now your 1st
runner-up… Johnson.
I see YOU and your ilk (ohh, that’s right… you’re Constitutionalists…
you can’t be ALL bad right? Meh) along with Obama/Dem Party loyalists
as the enemy. Based on what I‘ve read over the months from The Blaze’s
posters… you’re behind in the polls and a wee bit of a minority SOY. But
you like that dontcha’? The kid in the back of the class… irritating
and heckling the smarter kids. As I’ve stated numerous times…
malcontents and miscreants best describe the Ron Paul / Gary Johnson
Obama enablers these days.
SLAYER. I go after Ron Paul and his acolytes (you) for free. Call
it a Public Service. While he rides off into the sunset… we are left
with his idological step children. The good choice you’ve made as of
late is to not mention his name as you did when I first came on The
Blaze. Seems‘ you’re trying to fit in… lol. Good job SLAYER. Btw… still
voting for the “other guy”…??
BARBER2. You’re welcome for the laugh. BUT… this IS serious
business when we look at it in a serious way. The supposed “Liberty
Movement”… “Viva La Revolucion-aries”… the Ron Paul isolationist
ideology (and their SOY styled parrots) tend to side with America’s
enemies (both here and “over there”). These are the same idjits that
fall behind Bradley Manning, shake hands with Code-Pink and apologize
for Palestinians, Islam and Iran while blaming America and patriotic
Americans, along with Israel for all the problems around the world.
they team with humanities friends and blame humanities enemies and
those who are causing the problems nothing wrong with that time 2. btw
Romney is Obama but white so basically the only reason for him over
Obama is racism.
INDI… you could be beaten about the head and shoulders with a
baseball bat and you would still get up antagonize common sense
Americans with nonsensical rants, musings and mumblings. I’m not sure
whether I should give you kudos for your perserverance or tell you to
ask your nurse to up your meds.
It’s beyond belief that the other Paul / Johnson acolytes here don’t
disown you. Must be that they realize that one more vote for Obama
(sorry, Paul / Johnson / Goode) is wayyy more important than taking you
to task. Same reason they tend to stick up for the racists, bigots,
White Supremicists, drug abusers, child porn advocates, the incestuous,
neo-Nazi’s, radical Islamists and even Louis Farrakhan along with any
OTHER nut that happens along and attaches itself/themselves to “The
Liberty Movement”…. or speaks highly of it.
Paulies & Johnstonites, please give it up. Your guy lost fair
& square and Johnston has no chance. A vote for Gary J is a vote for
Obama. Obama must be taken out of the White House, then this will buy
you more time to push for establishing your 2016 3rd party. Time is
running out and another 4 by this destroyer & fraud will cease all
chances of you guys to attain your goal. Please guys, vote for Romney on
this round, Obama has to be stopped.
I hear you guys saying Romney is more of Obama, but you don’t know
that for certain. Its a chance we have to take, we all know what we’re
in for with more of the rogue criminal fraud tearing our nation down
faster than a speeding auto-train.
i will say he is not a christian. Jesus said look at the fruit to
see what they bear. a good tree cannot bear evil fruit and an evil tree
cannot bear good fruit. the fruit he bears is evil. he is a muslim and
probably a radical one. he had friends in pakastan in palastine and
muslim brotherhood for years. now he pretends he is for poor people when
he defended slumlords against tentants who had no heat in chicago
winters. aborted babies still alive thrown in closets. hell i think if
he gets gets elected he will be worse than hitler because he is setting
up israel now.
It started with Carter.Appeasement has been the rule ever since.
can not just blame one President.have been paying billions of dollars in
ade ever since.
hey with 99 wks to look for work, food stamps allowing beer
,cigarettes, steaks and cakes,no work required to get welfare, more like a
lazy-boy recliner??
If we ever exploit ALL our natural resources like the 1.5 trillion
barrels of shale oil in the US and our NG we can tell the entire middle
east to F OFF. That‘s the only reason we’re in that region and once we
stop paying them trillions of dollars for oil and use our natural
resources we can be done with them.
Kill all so called ‘green energy’ programs here and rescue our coal
industry from the Marxist POS currently destroying it we’ll be okay.
Right now though our world is about to have a massive legacy of Obama
left behind; that of a regional war in the Middle East in which Israel
may fall and Iran arise as the dominate power; along with war between
China – Japan.
Understand, the world is shifting dramatically now in the way of
geopolitical alliances and of the governments; Obama unleashed this with
support to the Arab Spring and the failure to support the real
Democratic uprising within Iran.
Due to his massive failures, his name shall bear shame in history worse than Chamberlin.
As you may know Barry sees America as the cause of all the worlds
problems, hence the apology tour, the most sickening display of a
President I’ve ever seen. I believe Barry when he says he‘s going to
fundamentally transform America because he’s doing it. He’s determined
to lower our standard of living and our influence throughout the
world. In short he’s making us pay, literally trillions in dollars and our
civil liberties are further eroded with the Marxist heathen in charge.
PRO: Obama is just trying to fulfill the Dreams of His Father : “
social justice” / aka revenge for Western colonialism and capitalism !
There is an angry man hidden under those well-tailored outfits. ( I
have a photo from campaign 2008 of Michele doing the Black Power
Clenched fist raised in the air and a scowl on her face that would
strip paint from a wall ). Think that clenched fist represents Obama
and this New Far Left Democrat Party of radicals. They operate under a
new set of ” ruLes.” Pure Alisnky. Pure Marxist. Pure un-American.
NOBAMA 2012 NO DEMOCRATS 2012
We don’t have a congress – obama has showen us that– they are
spineless punks trying to keep their do nothing jobs- living off the tax
payers — One Term should be the standard and paid 100,000,00 a year
with no other bennies.
This transformation began when we thought we could “Nation Build”
our enemies homelands. Remove dictators and whoever is the #2 most
powerful influence in the country fills the vacuum. In this case it was
theocracies. Bad foreign policy under Bush and Obama. We hear the
shouts of “Obama will let Iran get a nuke!” Yes he will. Just as Bush
let North Korea build one while declaring he would not let it happen.
Different parties….same policies….wake up sheep.
“Nation Build” our enemies homelands
***
We did that after WW2 successfully. But after WW2 means AFTER the war.
We are trying or were trying to build during an active war in
Afghanistan. An enemy that has secure bases (with only occasional
pinpricks by drone) in the Swat Valley & northern.Southern
Waziristan is not AFTER the War.
Iraq was just about “after the War” & we almost succeeded, but Obama cut & ran like a yellow dog.
Now Iran owns 1/2 to 2/3rds of Iraq. It owns the core of Iraq which is enough for Iran to project some power.
WANKABOUT . . . “Iraq was just about “after the War” & we almost succeeded, but Obama cut & ran like a yellow dog.’
Sorry, but conservatives all said “Bush won the war.” So which is it?
I believe the yellow dog you’re looking for is Reagan, who cut and
ran like a yellow dog after 83 of our Marines were killed in Beirut.
Reagan is the reason Arab radicals are as bold and ruthless as they are
today. But gosh, he sure looked good in jodhpurs, didn’t he? Wow what a
guy!
WANGO. Actually it was more like 240 or more Marines if memory
serves me right, along with 50 some-odd French paratroopers. They should
have never been there in the first place… like sitting ducks, lightly
armed and not permitted to take the high ground. That was a major
mistake. Reagan certainly made a blunder there. Marines DO NOT cut and
run… neither does the rest of our Military.
No excuses for that blunder. It should have given us firmer resolve in the region as opposed to walking away…
WANGO. I’ll still take Reagan over any who have succeeded him as
POTUS. Let’s throw his immediate predecessor in that mix too just for
sh!ts and giggles eh?
The Marines were not allowed to have loaded weapons in a war zone
on Beirut. So was it a mistake to send them there or was it the lack of
sound tactics.
I remember the Lebanese Civil War. It started when the PL F______ O
started setting up checkpoints & selectively killing Christians.
they had set up in Lebanon after trying to take over Jordan (Black
September) & had been routed by the Jordanians.
We did win in Iraq. You can look at the casualty count it was way
down. We could have lost Germany after WW2 & we won that war.
New information reveals President Barack Obama conducted interviews
with entertainment magazines and posed for a photo spread last Friday as
American embassies burned and 21 countries erupted into ant-American
protests.
Instead of spending precious time dealing with the developing crisis
in the Mid East and with his foreign policy scheme in a total freefall,
on Friday morning, September 14, Obama was giving an interview to the
entertainment magazine "People en Español" and participating in a photo session with photographer Omar Cruz.
This interview was not on his public schedule and was hidden from the public.
The interview came to public attention when individuals who work for the magazine tweeted about their visit after the event was over.
Update 9/20/12:
"Unserious" in one sense, but not in
another. The man has goals and a strategy, and has relied on a heavily
doctored, largely unexamined, biographical narrative. Today the Washington Examiner published an important investigative report that begins to redress the myths perpetrated upon us: The Obama You Don't Know"
What's going on?!? (HT: Drudge) Read the article for yourself.
Following controversy over its purchase of around 1.2
billion bullets in the last six months alone, the Department of Homeland
Security has put out a new solicitation for over 200 million more
rounds of ammunition, some of which are designated to be used by
snipers.
While
the media would like to portray conservative politicians as obsessed
with abortion, the Democratic Convention last week told a different
story. President Obama had over two dozen prime time speakers, including
the heads of the largest pro-abortion organizations, praising
unrestricted abortions at taxpayer expense.
Abortion giant Planned Parenthood, which gets at least one million
dollars a day from taxpayers, is repaying the President's gratitude by launching a $3.2 million television ad buy in Ohio and Virginia
on Monday as part of its biggest-ever campaign effort. The newest ad,
called "Turn Back the Clock," is set to run on cable television in
Northern Virginia for the next five weeks. The ad highlights Mitt
Romney's opposition to the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision and
his opposition to federal funding for Planned Parenthood. There is a
reason that the President's abortion allies are attacking Governor
Romney.
Gov. Romney reiterated his desire to overturn the poorly decided decision, known as the Dred Scott decision of the 20th
century. He also said he would overturn President Obama's actions that
have resulted in taxpayers subsidizing and paying for abortions both
internationally and at home.
President Obama has done a fundraising video from the White House for
Planned Parenthood's PAC. According to their highly paid leader, who
tweeted her excitement,
President Obama called them yesterday to thank them for all their
support of taxpayer funding of unrestricted abortion. To see the
differences between the two party platforms on life and other issues

Getting into medical school may not be as difficult as it used to be! If the latest reports are any indication, America will be absolutely desperate for doctors by 2015, when it's expected that the country will have 62,900 fewer physicians that it needs. In a jaw-dropping story in today's New York Times, the Association of American Medical Colleges warns that ObamaCare is squeezing doctors out of practice--just in time for the swell in Baby Boomer patients. In 2025, the shortfall of doctors will balloon to more than 100,000 physicians--leaving many Americans without the care the President promised to deliver. And there seems to be little anyone, including the government, can do to remedy the situation.
Meanwhile, the doctors who do practice may have lesser equipment to work with. Thanks to ObamaCare's tax spike for medical device manufacturers, some companies--like Indiana's Cook Medical Inc.--are canceling plans to expand, because the 2.3% in new taxes will take a $20-30 million bite out of their bottom line. The House voted to repeal the tax last month, but like so many things, it died in the legislative abyss that is the U.S. Senate. If you like your health care, the President says you can keep it. Just don't expect any doctors to be around to deliver it!
Some time ago David Barton compiled a list of Obama's Biblically hostile statements and actions on his website, WallBuilders. (HT: Tom) The list of hostile actions is even longer now and needs updating, but as it stands it remains a MUST-READ reminder of the views of the man currently occupying the U.S. White House.
America’s Most Biblically-Hostile U. S. President
America’s four-century long religious conscience protection through his attempts to require Catholics to go against their own doctrines and beliefs, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Catholic. But that characterization would not be correct. Although he has recently singled out Catholics, he has equally targeted traditional Protestant beliefs over the past four years. So since he has attacked Catholics and Protestants, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Christian. But that, too, would be inaccurate. He has been equally disrespectful in his appalling treatment of religious Jews in general and Israel in particular. So perhaps the most accurate description of his antipathy toward Catholics, Protestants, religious Jews, and the Jewish nation would be to characterize him as anti-Biblical. And then when his hostility toward Biblical people of faith is contrasted with his preferential treatment of Muslims and Muslim nations, it further strengthens the accuracy of the anti-Biblical descriptor. In fact, there have been numerous clearly documented times when his pro-Islam positions have been the cause of his anti-Biblical actions.
Listed below in chronological order are (1) numerous records of his attacks on Biblical persons or organizations; (2) examples of the hostility toward Biblical faith that have become evident in the past three years in the Obama-led military; (3) a listing of his open attacks on Biblical values; and finally (4) a listing of numerous incidents of his preferential deference for Islam’s activities and positions, including letting his Islamic advisors guide and influence his hostility toward people of Biblical faith.
1. Acts of hostility toward people of Biblical faith:
April 2008 – Obama speaks disrespectfully of Christians, saying they “cling to guns or religion” and have an “antipathy to people who aren't like them.” 1
February 2009 – Obama announces plans to revoke conscience protection for health workers who refuse to participate in medical activities that go against their beliefs, and fully implements the plan in February 2011. 2
April 2009 – When speaking at Georgetown University, Obama orders that a monogram symbolizing Jesus' name be covered when he is making his speech. 3
May 2009 – Obama declines to host services for the National Prayer Day (a day established by federal law) at the White House. 4
April 2009 – In a deliberate act of disrespect, Obama nominated three pro-abortion ambassadors to the Vatican; of course, the pro-life Vatican rejected all three. 5
October 19, 2010 – Obama begins deliberately omitting the phrase about “the Creator” when quoting the Declaration of Independence – an omission he has made on no less than seven occasions. 6
The Right needs to stop kidding itself that last week’s epic Dolchstoss amounts to anything but a loss: a loss to the country, a loss to the court’s apolitical reputation, and a personal loss for the chief justice, whose legacy now seems permanently sullied.
Spare me the argument that Roberts, with the ghosts of 1937 tramping through his mind, was trying to “preserve the integrity” of the court. His jaw-dropping, intellectually inconsistent, Kafkaesque ruling in the Obamacare case is likely to live in infamy, much like such earlier Supreme turkeys as the Dred Scott decision and Plessy v. Ferguson. In both of those cases, as in this one, the Court took refuge in legal niceties and sophomoric hairsplitting, refusing to acknowledge the greater moral issue and the looming national catastrophe. . . .
Justice Roberts - "It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices."
Rush Limbaugh - "It's the biggest tax increase in the history of the world... The IRS has just become Barack Obama's domestic army."
(Original post): The FRC's response to the Supreme Court's ruling states the issue forcefully and dramatically: (my bolding)
Family Research Council Legal Counsel Ken Klukowski, J.D., made the following comments:
"The Supreme Court has today given the federal government unlimited authority to use its tax power to require Americans to engage in specific commercial activity. The obvious implication is chilling: Uncle Sam can make you buy anything, at any price, for any reason," said Klukowski. "That's why today, the American dream gave way to a real American nightmare. President Obama's vow about 'fundamentally transforming the United States of America ' was fulfilled. The Supreme Court essentially said it cannot articulate any limiting principle on the power of the federal government.
"By ruling that the law is constitutional, the Supreme Court gave the federal government the power to order private citizens to enter into contracts with private organizations and give those organizations their money. This ruling fundamentally transforms the federal government from one of limited and specified powers in the Constitution to an all-powerful central government with plenary power over every area and aspect of Americans' lives from cradle to grave."
Of the Supreme Court's decision, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins made the following comments:
"Today's Supreme Court decision will do serious harm to American families. Not only is the individual mandate a profound attack on our liberties, but it is only one section among hundreds of provisions in the law that will force taxpayers to fund abortions, violate their conscience rights, and impose a massive tax and debt burden on American families.
"The Obama administration has created, for the first time in American history, new federal regulations that toss aside the constitutional right to religious freedom by forcing religious institutions and employers to pay for abortion-causing drugs, contraceptives and sterilizations.
"It's now time to replace those leaders who disregarded the constitutional limitations of their authority and the deeply held religious beliefs of their constituents, voting for the government takeover of healthcare. We must repeal this abortion-funding health care law and restore the Constitution to its rightful place," concluded Perkins.
Me: The time has come for American citizens to rise up and reclaim their liberty.
I posted Krauthammer's comments on Obama's "Naked Lawlessness" and my comment on Obama assuming dictatorial powers earlier, but Rush's observations add pungency and clarity to the dire situation we face under this President.
RUSH: So, once again we see which side Obama comes down on in the question of whether this is a country of the rule of law or the rule of man. With Obama, it’s not the rule of law. He is implementing law that the Congress defeated, as in the legalization of the amnesty for 800,000 young illegals. Congress defeated that, the DREAM Act. He said, to hell with it, I’m gonna make it the law, just gonna do it. Obama wants the enforcement of every federal law to hinge upon whether he agrees with it or not. And if he doesn’t agree with the federal law, he’s not gonna enforce it, like the Defense of Marriage Act. It’s the law of the land. The regime announced within the past year that they were no longer going to enforce it. It’s a dictator’s wet dream to do what Obama is doing. If he doesn’t agree with the law, voila, it’s no longer enforced. It may as well not even exist. That’s who he is, folks…
…Yeah, there’s no way Obama would ever not enforce immigration law. There’s no way Obama would ignore the Constitution and just write a health care law that basically pees all over it. No way, Obama wouldn’t do any of that, Democrat Party, no, they respect the rule, they wouldn’t do anything like that. No, of course they wouldn’t. Why should civil rights laws be enforced? Once you start cherry-picking these things and once the laws you enforce or don’t enforce strictly because whether you like ‘em or not, what if we started obeying laws on that basis or not? If the president of the United States can choose to enforce or not enforce law because he likes them or doesn’t like them, what about us?
Krauthammer's astute observations can be found here.
My question: How can Congress and the courts allow Obama's actions to stand? The Constitution protects us against Dictatorship. If the Chief Executive is allowed to promulgate and execute laws on his own -- laws which Congress has refused to pass -- then this Republic has turned into a Dictatorship. Obama's action must be challenged. As Krauthammer explains:
Imagine: A Republican president submits to Congress a bill abolishing the capital gains tax. Congress rejects it. The president then orders the IRS to stop collecting capital gains taxes and declares that anyone refusing to pay them will suffer no fine, no penalty, no sanction whatsoever. . . . It would be a scandal, a constitutional crisis, a cause for impeachment. . . Capital gains is straightforward tax law. Just as Obama’s bombshell amnesty-by-fiat is a subversion of straightforward immigration law.
Sure it's smart politics. But smart politics does not justify assuming Dictatorial powers over the People. I agree with Krauthammer's further point:
The case for compassion and fairness is hardly as clear-cut as advertised. What about those who languish for years in godforsaken countries awaiting legal admission to America? Their scrupulousness about the law could easily cost their children the American future that illegal immigrants will have secured for theirs.
What about them indeed? Krauthammer again:
But whatever our honest and honorable disagreements about the policy, what holds us together is a shared allegiance to our constitutional order. That’s the fundamental issue here. As Obama himself argued in rejecting the executive action he has now undertaken, “America is a nation of laws, which means I, as the president, am obligated to enforce the law. I don’t have a choice about that.”
Except, apparently, when violating that solemn obligation serves his reelection needs.
The US Conference of Catholic Bishops launched their two-week Fortnight for Freedom program today, their latest salvo in the battle between the Catholic Church and the Obama administration over the HHS contraception mandate. . .
The bishops are hoping that a massive protest now will force the Obama administration to reverse the mandate (or expand the religious exemption to all religious organizations) before civil disobedience becomes necessary.
The most imminent threat to religious liberty—but not the only one—that the Catholic bishops have been protesting and seeking to draw public attention to is a regulation that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius issued under President Barack Obama’s health care law. The regulation will require virtually all health-care plans in the United States to cover, without any fees or co-pay, sterilizations, artificial contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs.
This month, the Catholic bishops are distributing an insert in church bulletins around the country pointing to the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s leadership of the Civil Rights Movement, and his defense of civil disobedience, noting that King, a Baptist minister, used the arguments of the Catholic Saints Augustine and Thomas Aquinas to justify peaceful resistance to unjust laws. In the bulletin insert, the bishops made clear that civil disobedience may be necessary when freedom of conscience is attacked.
“Some unjust laws impose such injustices on individuals and organizations that disobeying the laws may be justified,” says the bulletin insert.
“Every effort must be made to repeal them. When fundamental human goods, such as the right of conscience, are at stake, we may need to witness to the truth by resisting the law and incurring its penalties.”
Fox News produced the following accurate summation of Obama's grand promises and their sorry "fulfillment." I am amazed that such facts aren't constantly dwelling in American minds when thinking of Obama's promised "hope & change."
The Obama Administration's hostility to religion, and its determination to have the government be the be-all and end-all to individual citizens, must be resisted. The Bishops are suing the U.S. government, and therefore Mike Huckabee (a Baptist) rightly says, "We're all Catholics now."
[...]More is at stake here than the mission of all churches, including the Catholic Church, to provide social services like health care and education to everyone regardless of creed, and to do so without compromising their beliefs. At the deepest level, we are witnessing an attack on the institutions of civil society that are essential to limited government and are important buffers between the citizen and the all-powerful state.
If religious providers of education, health care and social services are closed down or forced to become tools of administration policy, the government consolidates a monopoly over those essential services. As Cardinal Timothy Dolan, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, put it, we are witnessing an effort to reduce religion to a private activity. "Never before," he said, "have we faced this kind of challenge to our ability to engage in the public square as people of faith."
With this week's lawsuits, the bishops join a growing army of other plaintiffs around the country, Catholic and non-Catholic, who are asking the courts to repel an unprecedented governmental assault on the ability of religious persons and groups to practice their religion without being forced to violate their deepest moral convictions.
Religious freedom is subject to necessary limitations in the interests of public health and safety. The HHS regulations do not fall into that category. The world has gotten along fine without this mandate—the services in question are widely and cheaply available, and most employers will provide coverage for them.
But if the regulations are not reversed, they threaten to demote religious liberty from its prominent place among this country's most cherished freedoms. That is why Cardinal Dolan told CBS's "Face the Nation" on April 8: "We didn't ask for this fight, but we won't back away from it."

The vicious, one-sideness of this Administration in its promotion of abortion got slapped down today by a U.S. district judge who called out the DOJ in no uncertain terms. J. Matt Barber reports (HT: Tina Korbe):
For several months now the Obama administration has been abusing our judicial system through a concerted political intimidation campaign via the federal courts. Obama has instructed the Justice Department to sue a number of pro-life counselors and volunteers for allegedly violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrance (FACE) Act.
You won’t hear it from the mainstream media, but the Justice Department has just faced an embarrassing smack down on the highest profile of these cases. It has dropped an appeal in Holder v. Pine against pro-life sidewalk counselor Mary “Susan” Pine, who is represented by the civil rights firm Liberty Counsel. The DOJ has agreed to pay $120,000 for this frivolous lawsuit which, as the evidence indicated, was intended to intimidate Ms. Pine and send a shot over the bow of pro-lifers around the country.
Mr. Holder unsuccessfully sought thousands of dollars in fines against Ms. Pine, as well as a permanent injunction banning her from counseling women on the public sidewalk outside the Presidential Women’s Center (PWC) abortion mill (or any other “reproductive services” clinic).
After 18 months of litigation, the DOJ’s case was thrown out of federal court, and the department was chastised in a scathing ruling by U.S. District Judge Kenneth Ryskamp for filing a case with no evidence.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has declared that there is no proof that in-person voter fraud is a problem. He's about to see proof that even he can't deny.
In a new video (below) provided to Breitbart.com, James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas demonstrates why Holder should stop attacking voter ID laws--by walking into Holder’s voting precinct and showing the world that anyone can obtain Eric Holder’s primary ballot. Literally. [more...]
Me: It wasn't so much "manufactured" as "revealed" and thereby made perfectly obvious for everyone to see. The Department of Justice has no interest in justice, nor has it a concern that voter fraud be eliminated. It sees itself as a tool of the Democrat party with the responsibility to insure Democrat candidates win. What does this mean? It means corruption at the highest levels of government, and the breeding of cynicism.
There is something surreal about the voter-ID issue. As James O’Keefe demonstrates, it is comically easy to commit voter fraud in person, and, unless someone confesses, it’s very difficult to ever detect. . .
Other than hypotheticals, there are very few cases of legitimate voters who were unable to have their vote counted because they lacked ID. People who show up without photo ID at the polls are allowed to cast a provisional ballot that is counted after proof of identity is offered.
“From voter fraud to election chicanery of all kinds, America teeters on the edge of scandal every November,” says Larry Sabato, the director of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia and author of a comprehensive survey of voter fraud called “Dirty Little Secrets.” The fact that so many people want to thwart legitimate and prudent efforts to improve ballot integrity has become a scandal in its own right. Attorney General Holder is unlikely to agree with that, but after what happened at his polling place last Tuesday, he should at least understand that voter fraud itself is a scandal worth investigating.
I'm grateful to a friend for passing along Vennari's important article. (HT: bs) I haven't read Saul D. Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals," but see the need to do so. If Alinsky advocated a radical relativism and amorality in furthering political goals as stated below, we have all the more reason to fear the current occupant of the White House since he is regarded as Alinsky's disciple. Vennari writes:
Obama was a student of the ruthless tactics of Saul Alinsky, the left-wing agitator whose landmark Rules for Radicals was dedicated to the devil.[9] Mike Kruglik, Obama’s Chicago instructor in Alinsky methods, said Obama was the best student of Alinsky tactics he ever had.[10]
David Alinsky, Saul Alinsky’s son, applauded Obama’s successful implementation of Alinsky methods. Immediately after Obama’s acceptance speech at the 2008 Democratic National Convention, David Alinsky wrote a letter to the Boston Globe in full praise of Obama as one who learned well his father’s methods.[11]
Even Obama zealot Chris Matthews, in a December 2010 broadcast of “Hardball”, referred to Obama as “the guy who comes from Saul Alinsky”.[12]
As is stated in his Rules for Radicals, Alinsky’s foundational principles are:
1) There is no such thing as dogma, all truth is relative: “For the organizer, everything is relative and changing,” said Alinsky. The organizer “does not have any fixed truth.” This places the organizer in a superior position, Alinsky insisted, because he is “free from the shackles of dogma.”[13]
2) There is no such thing as a fixed rule of ethics. For Alinksy, the end justifies the means, and all ethics are elastic according to the situation you are in or the strategy you need to employ. Alinsky taught, “Ethical standards must be elastic to stretch with the times.”[14] If you need to lie, you lie. If you need to make promises you know you won’t keep, you do it anyway.
3) Corruption in the leader is a kind of virtue: “To say that a corrupt means corrupts the ends is to believe in the Immaculate Conception of ends and principle”, Alinksy blasphemously asserted. “The real arena is corrupt and bloody. Life is a corrupting process. He who fears corruption, fears life.” Alinsky castigates the leader who places his personal conscience and personal salvation above the needs of the people, claiming that such a leader “does not care enough for the people to be corrupted for them”.[15]
This is the school in which Barack Obama was formed: no dogma; no objective truth; no fixed standards of ethics; the end justifies the means; and corruption in the leader is raised to the level of virtue.
How can anyone believe anything Obama says? There is no fixed standard of ethics preventing him from lying to achieve whatever aims he deems fit.
As a student of Alinksy (as is Hillary Clinton), [16] Obama will think nothing of stamping out those who stand in the way of his Party’s agenda. In his 1946 Reveille for Radicals: Alinsky wrote that if the radicals become stronger than the opposition, they must “crush the opposition”.[17]
Congressman Chris Smith and Tulsa’s Bishop Slattery appear aware of Obama’s aim to “crush the opposition”. As noted, Smith warned that Obama’s pro-abortion directives are designed so that “religious hospitals will be squeezed out.” Bishop Slattery observed the new mandate may end up “closing down every Catholic school, hospital and the other public ministries of the Church, which is perhaps their underlying intention.”
It is futile appealing the Constitution to Obama, since he publicly expresses support for its effective revision.
In a 2001 radio interview, Obama argued that the Warren Court, which started a long line of activist decisions in a number of areas, did not go far enough:
1) it failed to bring about “redistributive change” and a “redistribution of wealth”;
2) it failed to, in Obama’s words, “break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution”[18]
In his book, The Audacity of Hope, Obama had this to say:
“Ultimately, I have to side with Justice Breyer’s view of the Constitution – that it is not a static but rather a living document, and must be read in the context of the ever-changing world.”[19]
Obama belongs to the clique of doctrinal liberals whose basic tenet is, “the only law of the land should be what we say it is at the moment,” which is a formula for State Absolutism. . . .
Read the whole thing. These facts should raise the fear factor of every freedom-loving America.
Michael Gerson, former speechwriter for President Bush and a Washington Post columnist, penned a column back on January 30th that I missed -- "Obama plays his Catholic allies for fools." It's clear Gerson understood immediately the implications of Obama's "in your face" executive order putting a fist in the face of religious conscience. Gerson in my mind has always been a restrained person, something of a "moderate" Republican, and a self-identified Protestant. Yet he wrote:
Both radicalism and maliciousness are at work in Obama’s decision — an edict delivered with a sneer. It is the most transparently anti-Catholic maneuver by the federal government since the Blaine Amendment was proposed in 1875 — a measure designed to diminish public tolerance of Romanism, then regarded as foreign, authoritarian and illiberal. Modern liberalism has progressed to the point of adopting the attitudes and methods of 19th-century Republican nativists. . . .
And,
Obama is claiming the executive authority to determine which missions of believers are religious and which are not — and then to aggressively regulate institutions the government declares to be secular. It is a view of religious liberty so narrow and privatized that it barely covers the space between a believer’s ears.
Obama’s decision also reflects a certain view of liberalism. Classical liberalism was concerned with the freedom to hold and practice beliefs at odds with a public consensus. Modern liberalism uses the power of the state to impose liberal values on institutions it regards as backward. It is the difference between pluralism and anti-clericalism.
The administration’s ultimate motivation is uncertain. Has it adopted a radical secularism out of conviction, or is it cynically appealing to radical secularists? In either case, the war on religion is now formally declared. [emphases mine]
Me: We are confronted with a serious and dangerous threat from our own President and his supporters. Freedom in the United States is now under seige from a militant executive branch and its Democrat congressional allies intent on "reforming" (read: "deforming and obliterating") basic freedoms we have taken for granted all our lives. These are serious developments indeed.
People say the president is a nice guy. I'm not so sure. His actions are those of a nasty man, especially nasty towards anyone who resists his pro-abortion, Planned Parenthood coddling. Run afoul, and Obama cuts off money. Consider this report from the Family Research Center: (my bolding)
Last Friday, the Obama administration proved that it's more than capable of cutting funds--in retaliation. As payback for Texas severing ties with Planned Parenthood, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius promised to take out her anger on the state's low-income women. Starting this May, the government will phase out more than $30 million in health coverage for the most underprivileged people in the state--all because Texas wanted its citizens to have the benefit of unbiased care. The Obama administration decided to kill the funding for cancer, STD, and breast screenings because Gov. Rick Perry (R) dared to look beyond Planned Parenthood to providers who aren't under congressional investigation.
The far Left continues to believe American voters are not smart enough to grasp the diversionary tactics it employs to distract us from the issues our President just doesn’t want to talk about – issues that affect us all every day and must be addressed.
Exhibit A in these diversionary tactics is an absurd new attack ad President Obama has released taking my comments out of context. I’m not running for any office, but I’m more than happy to accept the dubious honor of being Barack Obama’s “enemy of the week” if that includes the opportunity to debate him on the issues Americans are actually concerned about. (Remember when I said you don’t need a title to make a difference?)
The following paragraph is particularly excellent:
Just off the top of my head, a few of these concerning issues include: a debt crisis that has us hurtling towards a Greek-style collapse, entitlement programs going bankrupt, a credit downgrade for the first time in our history, a government takeover of the health care industry that makes care more expensive and puts a rationing panel of faceless bureaucrats between you and your doctor (aka a “death panel”), $4 and $5 gas at the pump exacerbated by an anti-drilling agenda that rejects good paying energy sector jobs and makes us more dependent on dangerous foreign regimes, a war in Afghanistan that seems unfocused and unending, a global presidential apology tour that’s made us look feeble and ridiculous, a housing market in the tank, the longest streak of high unemployment since World War II, private-sector job creators and industry strangled by burdensome regulations and an out-of-control Obama EPA, an attack on the Constitutional protection of religious liberty, an attack on private industry in right-to-work states, crony capitalism run amok in an administration in bed with their favored cronies to the detriment of genuine free market capitalism, green energy pay-to-play kickbacks to Obama campaign donors, and a Justice Department still stonewalling on a bungled operation that armed violent Mexican drug lords and led to the deaths of hundreds of innocent people.
Last night, as expected, the Academy Award went to The Artist, a modern silent film that had gotten plenty of Oscar buzz from the moment it hit the screens. Raising Red, a conservative group, showed great prescience and demonstrates an acerbic wit in their parody The Con Artist, which features the broken promises of a political leading man who broke hearts around the country when he failed to deliver:
Read it here. I hope to get back to the article to put up excerpts, but meanwhile, read it for yourself. It's that important. It's truly unbelievable what is happening to this nation; how so many swallow the flimsiest of justifications. We are a nation devoid of clarity and logic. Time to look up from our diversionary technological devices and begin THINKING.
Consider the constitutional wreckage left by Obamacare:
First, the assault on the free exercise of religion. Only churches themselves are left alone. Beyond the churchyard gate, religious autonomy disappears. Every other religious institution must bow to the state because, by this administration’s regulatory definition, church schools, hospitals and charities are not “religious” and thus have no right to the free exercise of religion — no protection from being forced into doctrinal violations commanded by the state.
Second, the assault on free enterprise. To solve his own political problem, the president presumes to order a private company to enter into a contract for the provision of certain services — all of which must be without charge. And yet, this breathtaking arrogation of power is simply the logical extension of Washington’s takeover of the private system of medical care — a system Obama farcically pretends to be maintaining. …
Third, the assault on individual autonomy. Every citizen without insurance is ordered to buy it, again under penalty of law. This so-called individual mandate is now before the Supreme Court — because never before has the already hypertrophied Commerce Clause been used to compel a citizen to enter into a private contract with a private company by mere fact of his existence.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 1:33pmYou are correct, it’s all part of the master plan to bring the US down “equal” to the rest of the world. As he weakens the US he stands by or even encourages the coming caliphate into this new 21st century group of superpower nations. You cannot have an islamic caliphate with the kind of power and influence they are seeking with a superpower based on freedom standing in the way like the US.
You see kids that’s why the Emperor is disarming us, taking our nuclear arsenal down to 1500 (with hopes to get even lower to 3-500) while our enemies are building weapons, and bankrupting this nation. We are too well armed and too rich compared to other nations! Once we are broke and defenseless this Ottoman Empire will roll in because there will be no one left to stand in the way!

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 1:40pmAnd then there is the matter of Armageddon in the book, Revelation of John. I was near that battle-zone in 1986 and it is a tankers nightmare with 200 foot high hills on either side of a river valley that goes from the Sea of Galilee to the Mediterranean Sea. If Hezbollah comes down from the north with Syrian tanks they will hit a choke point and be decimated. But then when God enters the fight it will not matter what your fighting in he can destroy what ever he wants since the Weapons of God are not of this world.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 4:17pmWhat did we expect electing a Muslim named Barack Hussein Obama? If his name isn’t a dead giveaway, I don’t know what is. His name sounds like he is the the leader of Kenya or Somalia. America be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. And in this case we wished for a politically correct Muslim sympathizer and that’s exactly what we got. If the US reelects him for a 2nd term, then this country will get whatever it deserves.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:28pmYou are correct. With all due respect the Congressman is incorrect though. I doubt seriously that a caliphate will actually take place. During the Psalm 83 war, Israel will destroy all its enemies in close proximity. Which are the current countries of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and fantastically the West Bank is specifically mentioned. I say that for those unfamiliar with the Bible. If you are a Christian, Biblical prophecy is not fantastic. It just is. WWIII is described in Ezekiel chapters 30 and 38. Most theologians who have researched eschatology are confident that both wars are prior to the rapture and the tribulation described in the Book of Revelation. Islam will not look like it does today in the future. I don’t know exactly into what it will mutate. Many believe it will fuse with apostates of Christianity and Judaism. Some believe it will fuse with Roman Catholicism after the current Pope is gone. It may revert to its actual pagan origins.
Many are indecisive as to the exact countries involved in WWIII since present day country borders are a manufacture of man and not the areas God established or recognized. Some countries most everyone agrees on are Russia, Germany, Turkey, Ethiopia, Sudan, Iran. Some that may or may not be involved are China, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and many countries in Indo-China.
One thing is for sure. Neither, Mr. Obama or Mr. Morsi, or any other human for that matter, is in charge of any of this.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 11:10amWhen we read Obama’s executive order 13603 (section 801 PVIII) in conjuction with HLS purchasing billions of rounds of ammo & distributing them to governmental departments (fish and game, forestry dept, etc), you know that something isn’t right with Obama and this administration. Here, we have a president who has appointed Islamic Brotherhood to his administration & saying that the 9/11 attack was over a Youtube video? (that was released in June) Now we‘re hearing it could’ve be an “inside job” of the security team from Wales? While all of this is going on, Obama is sleeping soundly in Las Vegas & states that there wasn’t any indication that something like this was going to happen? Obama couldn’t tell the truth if his life depended on it. Gohmert is right…and it‘s about time some more representatives start talking openly about Obama’s ideologies, which are NOT in the best interest for our nation.

“The Obama doctrine,.. is one of orchestrated deconstruction of countries getting in the way of the reconstruction of the Islamic Caliphate. Once established, the Islamic Caliphate will usher in a repressive global religion complimentary to the larger globalist agenda. Accordingly, Syria cannot be allowed to exist in its current form, nor can Israel, but for different reasons…
The Obama doctrine of foreign policy is the globalist doctrine, except .. employs the effective use of the MB to advance the globalist agenda.

Its the other way around. Every Christian I know just wants to go about their business

of any other belief system.
Peace accords, peace treaties, peace agreements, etc – they’re all a FARCE because
these people dont want peace. American leadership has always made the mistake of
attempting to apply a western mindset to the Arab world, and the fact is, they dont think

The Muslims attacked Israel, you know the place that Christians have pilgramed to for centuries because CHRIST was born and killed in that region. the Muslims killed 3,000 christians. Nope, I sure don’t. But, since they were there already with a goal in mind, perhaps we should have stayed until it was done. I think that is what Gohmert was saying. Also, that with the exploding growth of a new Ottoman Empire we might have been able to keep Iraq from being influenced more by Iran.
I pretty sure that was his point. Saving any Country from being a part of a new Ottoman Empire especially after spending so much money and losing so much blood on said Country.
What do you think? (Besides that we should have never been in Iraq in the first place)

Exactly what is the goal in Afghanistan and what was the goal in Iraq? It seems to me that we achieved the goal within the first couple months in both countries.
What i thought was based on what i was told by the repubilcans – which was that Iraq was a direct threat to our existence and had to be removed in order to establish a middle east democracy. That turned out to be a lie and misguided policy. You are asking what i would do right now? I would remove our troops from the line of fire and remove all embassies from islamic countries. People talk about creating the environment of freedom over there, but that is exactly what lead to the muslim brotherhood has gaining control in egypt, libya, and iraq – and at the same time, the republicans are blaming it all on Obama….Which tells me that nothing has changed in America

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:07pmHi Soybom315,
If you knew the history of the relationship between Iraq and the Brits (Westerners and main alleys of the US) you would know why Iraq was considered a threat. Here’s a quickie lesson for you;
After WWI the Brits wanted to go into Turkey and didn’t have the man power. Since they controlled Iraq (just like India) they asked Iraq to help. Iraq said no; the Turks were their friends. In 1920 the King of Iraq and the Brits reached a deal. Iraq would help the Brits conquer Turkey and if successful, Iraq would win it’s freedom. Well, they won and the Brits reneged on the deal. For 17 years they continued control of Iraq. Then in 1937, with Hitler doing his thing, the Brits granted Iraq it’s freedom. BUT, the Brits would keep the port city (Kuwait) cutting Iraq off from the Persian Sea. They pleaded and the Brits agreed to leave a space open on the East side of the Country and put the King’s brother (or son, I forget) in charge of Kuwait. 50 years later, after struggling to get Iraq going, they asked the US for permission the take Kuwait back through Madeleine Albright. All are weapons storage was full and military contractors were having massive layoffs. So the US agreed and Iraq went in. Then we said, “what do you guys think you’re doing” and rained down 40 days and nights of hell, emptying our warehouses and keeping jobs. Iraq vowed revenge and started a WMD program. Any scientist who failed was shot.
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:08pmAny scientist who failed was shot. So, they told Hussein the nuke program was working to keep from being shot by Hussein. One of the scientists escaped and even did a 60 Minutes show on it. I even remember the Sec of Labor at the time, Robert Reich, being grilled hard about why we were in Iraq. Everyone was saying it was for oil and the Government didn’t want that said. So, during this “grilling” Reich said, “You want to know why we’re there? You really want to know why we’re there? Jobs. That’s why US jobs.” I watched it and remember it well.
You see, the intel coming right from Hussein’s scientists was that the nuke program was working. And if you figure in what the Brits (our friends) did to them up until 1937, the struggles to make a Gov, them being told it’s OK to take Kuwait back the all hell for 40 days and night WITHOUT taking Hussein out. Well, that’s why we went back in the second time. We and the Brits both, owe Iraq some rebuilding and safety from Iran. Or don’t try teach real history at Dr. Paul camps? The US AG back then was Ramsey Clark who happened to be a friend of mine. So I got my history lessons about what we did from him and about the Brits did from a friend of Gandhi and Nehru who witnessed it in person. Now think about all this please.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:13pmI forgot to add…..
Now you know why the Turks and Kurds hate Iraq so much.
Starting to make some sense now?
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 3:18pmOne more thing……
Ramsey Clark was the first US person to enter Iraq after the 40 days and nights of hell. It was just 1 week after the bombing and was did it illegally. The US Gov denied anyone to visit but he went anyways. We talked for hours about what he saw. THIS is what drove my friend Ramsey crazy and literally hate the US Gov.

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 4:11pmNow consider this:
Do you remember the Iraq soldiers surrendering to reporters as they were leaving Kuwait? Do you remember them setting fire to oil rigs? Ever wonder why?
Iraq gave up and asked for permission the leave Kuwait. We said OK and gave them 48 hours (the time might be off but that’s what I remember) to leave. When crossing the desert, we were there with bulldozers and Blackhawk helicopters. We dug trenches in the sand, forced them into them (soldiers, wounded and medics) with the helio’s than buried them alive. They set fires in retaliation for us not keeping our word on free and safe passage back to Iraq. Those who found reporters with cameras (on the roads) surrendered to them because we were after them.
As for Afghanistan, I don’t know too much about that. But, India, Iraq and some other regions; Oh, yeah!

Please ask again. : )
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:06pmHi Soybom315,
OK…. Part 1
“Exactly what is the goal in Afghanistan and what was the goal in Iraq?”
The goal of going into Iraq the first time was J O B S. It’s that simple. We had made so many weapons we didn’t have any place to store the next-gen weapons. Massive layoffs in 3rd party contractors were happening. Then, Iraq asked us if they could go into Kuwait and take it back (It was part of Iraq in the past). We saw an opportunity to clear up some space and hatched a plan. We told them yes and then acted like it was an invasion (remember the Hussein trials? He keep saying Kuwait was part of Iraq). Hence the 40 days and nights of 2,000 sorties a day. Cleaned up the storage issue and the 3rd party contractors could go back to work, more layoffs were prevented and people were rehired. And Bush 1 left Hussein in charge. And he vowed REVENGE against the USA!!! And he went to work on a nuke program. He would ask his scientists how things were going. When the lead scientist said, “not so well”, Hussein would pull out his pistol, shoot him right there in front of the other scientists and put the #2 guy in charge. After a few times of this happening they started to lie to Hussein. “Oh, Mr. Hussein, the nuke program is going splendidly!” This started the false intel of the weapons program and the reason the Brits, Russians and US ALL were fooled into believing it. Even the intel coming from Israel was wrong.
The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:32pmPart 2
Bush 2 is in office now and Daddy (Bush 1) likes Jeb (Son 2) more than George (Son 1). A bit of family feuding going on. At this time all this intel is coming in about Iraq and it’s nuke program. Everyone, and I mean everyone; Russia, Britain, Israel and the USA are getting the same reports. Hussein is working on a nuke program and it’s “going along splendidly”. Bush 2 wants to impress Daddy and decides to go in and get Hussein. Something Daddy couldn’t even do. Besides, the USA and Britain know what happened in Desert Storm and that Hussein is seeking revenge. The IAEA can’t even get in to verify anything. The UN approves a US invasion.
(Starting to sound a bit like Iran but without Bush 2?)
So we go in and find no nukes. But the scientists are alive because they lied to save their lives. We figure it out and decide to finally do something nice and help them out with security, power and water and with a new Gov since Hussein is dead. You see; we know what we did in Desert Storm and are trying to make amends with the people. Bush 2 is happy because he finished the job his father started and now we try to be the “good guys”. That’s why we were still in Iraq. Obama doesn’t know any of this and is just trying to get votes. He really doesn’t care about Iraq or if our troops are there. Remember, he did send more troops in too.
Part 3 is next…..

The-Monk
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 6:59pmPart 3 (and final)
Hussein was part of the Ba’ath Party and ruled with an iron fist because all the different sects were always fighting for power. With Hussein gone the other sects came in, while we were trying to finally do something good, they started causing trouble. We started fighting them and chased them into Afghanistan. Al-Qaeda got involved with the Taliban and we are still there for some stupid reason; trying to stabilize an un-stabilizing situation. As I said before, I don’t know much of the history of Afghanistan.
Ask Dr. Paul about all of this. He’s been a Washington politician for some time and should be able to verify all of this for you. I hope this answers your questions. As you can see, I didn’t white-wash any Republican actions or motives. I didn’t bash the Democrats, Independents or even Ron Paul. I hope you appreciate that and have your answers. Please feel to ask anything else.
Also:
We do have a mad man in Iran that wants the return of the Mahdi (the 12th Imam) and the Caliphate. We also have Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood who want a Caliphate and Sharia Law. The World is real screwed up and if Obama stays in power it will only get worse because he hates America and likes Muslims more than us. He will bring the US to its knees; and we might never be able to stand again.
soybomb315_II
Posted on September 23, 2012 at 8:19pmMonk it is really hard to follow your connections. You say we went into Iraq in 2003 to stop their nuclear program? How come we found zero evidence of it (and Bush was looking for it, for political reasons) and honest minds like Colin Powell saw that we were duped and quit in disgust?
Nevertheless, if you say the goal of Iraq was to get rid of their nuclear weapons program – then we no longer should be there. mission complete, case closed. Afganistan tried to get nuclear weapons and Al Qaeda has moved into other countries – why are we still in Afganistan – what is the goal?
We cannot prevent the spread of an idea in the middle east – especially using our heavy footprint.

We did that after WW2 successfully. But after WW2 means AFTER the war.
We are trying or were trying to build during an active war in Afghanistan. An enemy that has secure bases (with only occasional pinpricks by drone) in the Swat Valley & northern.Southern Waziristan is not AFTER the War.
Iraq was just about “after the War” & we almost succeeded, but Obama cut & ran like a yellow dog.
Now Iran owns 1/2 to 2/3rds of Iraq. It owns the core of Iraq which is enough for Iran to project some power.

Sorry, but conservatives all said “Bush won the war.” So which is it?
I believe the yellow dog you’re looking for is Reagan, who cut and ran like a yellow dog after 83 of our Marines were killed in Beirut. Reagan is the reason Arab radicals are as bold and ruthless as they are today. But gosh, he sure looked good in jodhpurs, didn’t he? Wow what a guy!

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 12:13pmWANGO. Actually it was more like 240 or more Marines if memory serves me right, along with 50 some-odd French paratroopers. They should have never been there in the first place… like sitting ducks, lightly armed and not permitted to take the high ground. That was a major mistake. Reagan certainly made a blunder there. Marines DO NOT cut and run… neither does the rest of our Military.
No excuses for that blunder. It should have given us firmer resolve in the region as opposed to walking away…

Posted on September 23, 2012 at 4:00pmThe Marines were not allowed to have loaded weapons in a war zone on Beirut. So was it a mistake to send them there or was it the lack of sound tactics.
I remember the Lebanese Civil War. It started when the PL F______ O started setting up checkpoints & selectively killing Christians. they had set up in Lebanon after trying to take over Jordan (Black September) & had been routed by the Jordanians.
We did win in Iraq. You can look at the casualty count it was way down. We could have lost Germany after WW2 & we won that war.
